PARIS — French officials say marines patrolling the English Channel area have intercepted a cargo ship sailing under the Russian flag and escorted it to the port of Boulogne-Sur-Mer for an investigation. The interception of the ship, carrying cars, early Saturday was triggered by financial sanctions levied days ago against Russia for its invasion of the Ukraine. Maritime spokesperson Veronique Magnin said it appeared to be the first such action in the English Channel. The approximately 130-meter-(427-foot) ship was headed from Rouen, in Normandy, to Saint Petersburg, and was stopped near Honfleur, Magnin said. Customs officials carrying out the investigation were verifying if the vessel is indeed linked to Russian financial interests, the spokesperson said. The process could take up to 48 hours. The French government has given maritime officials the power to intercept vessels suspected of contravening the sanctions, she said. https://www.wral.com/live-updates-kyiv-residents-urged-to-shelter-amid-fighting/20159796/ |

War profit begins! Elon Musk says SpaceX’s Starlink satellites now active over Ukraine Elon Musk said Saturday SpaceX's Starlink satellites had been activated in Ukraine, with more terminals en route. Driving the news: Ukrainian officials requested Musk's help with his company's commercial internet network after Russia's unprovoked military invasion left parts of the country offline. Ukrainian First Vice Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov tweeted to Musk Saturday, " while you try to colonize Mars — Russia try to occupy Ukraine! While your rockets successfully land from space — Russian rockets attack Ukrainian civil people! We ask you to provide Ukraine with Starlink stations and to address sane Russians to stand." Musk responded to Federov, who's also digital transformation minister, "Starlink service is now active in Ukraine. More terminals en route." What to watch: Users on the ground in Ukraine won't be able to access Starlink's signal without their own special receivers — the "terminals" Musk referred to in his tweet. Key questions are how many of those Starlink can make available and whether the company can deliver them where they're needed. https://www.axios.com/elon-musk-spacex-starlink-satellites-active-ukraine-dd6c0a4c-a832-415b-96a0-91a323392927.html |

Quick summary. This is the fourth day of the Russian operation. Western media reports significantly underestimate Russian penetration and the speed of its advance, preferring to focus on the "Ukrainian resistance" which is actually proving unable to halt the strategic success of the Russian advance. The main facts of the day: Russian troops are firmly established in the northern suburbs of Kiev The southern Ukrainian front is collapsing, the Russian army should soon control the entire Ukrainian sea front. The Russian army broke through to the east from Sumy towards Kiev to link up with the Russian offensive axis coming from the north and already present on the outskirts of Kiev. It appears that the Ukrainian units made the mistake of trying to hold the major cities (Chernihiv / Sumy / Kharkov / Kherson), leaving the Russian armoured units to continue their advance towards their first strategic objectives: Kiev - Odessa - Mariupol. According to the information available, Russia has only committed half of its available troops to the offensive at this stage. MAP ON FRIDAY MAP NOW The Russian offensive forms a large pincer and follows four axes. Northern axis (Kiev - Cherkihiv) Street fighting in Kiev is concentrated in the northern suburbs of the capital, as here in Bucha. https://files.catbox.moe/sq805u.mp4 In the south of the capital, Russian actions are still targeting Vasylkiv airport. https://files.catbox.moe/90ujkt.mp4 Much further south of the capital, in Vinitsa, in central Ukraine, forward Russian units, potentially paratroopers, are already conducting offensive operations. https://files.catbox.moe/ju1bw1.mp4 Eastern axis (Sumy - Kharkov) Significantly on the fourth day, the offensive axis from Sumy / Kharkov in the east made a lightning breakthrough towards the Dnieper and Kiev, threatening to encircle all Zelensky's units to the north in a gigantic pincer. The 47th Guards Tank Regiment of the 1st Guards Tank Army was in charge of this manoeuvre. https://files.catbox.moe/n9wbac.mp4 Kharkov seems to be a secondary scene where the Russian army is trying to fix as many Ukrainian units as possible in order to destroy them gradually. However, it seems that the Russian army is now entering massively in the city, which has a population of 1.5 million. https://files.catbox.moe/444wx1.mp4 Southern axis (Kherson / Odessa - Mariupol) The offensive is divided into two movements: The first one, towards Odessa, in the west, to lock the whole Ukrainian sea front and cut Kiev off from any US support by sea The second, towards Mariupol and the Donbass, to join the republics of Loukansk and Donetsk and lock the Sea of Azov On the fourth day, the southern Ukrainian front has almost collapsed. The Russian army has already reached the Dnieper, cutting off Kiev's river traffic with the Black Sea. It is halfway to Odessa and rapidly approaching Mariupol. Movement towards Odessa The Russian army is completing the encirclement of Kherson, while continuing to advance towards Odessa. It is currently trying to break through at Mykolaiev. https://files.catbox.moe/19ivku.mp4 Movement towards Mariupol / Donbass Russian troops have reached Chernihivka. https://files.catbox.moe/wtgbxy.mp4 The port of Berdiansk has already been overtaken by the Russian armoured vanguard, which is moving towards Mariupol. At the current rate, the Russian army will have conquered the entire southern coast of Ukraine in just over a week, leaving Kiev temporarily with only a land corridor with Poland for any material support. |

Unless, by the same logic, WW2 was also a lie since you can see all these civilians walking, working, and smiling. Video footage can be deceptive. |

I'm not pointing whether what the people (or you in particular) is thinking about the two countries. What I'm highlighting here is how the mass media reports. When US do war crimes, please point out the amount of mass media that report the thing. Probably can be counted by hand. Now? The mass media making this as big as something that has never happened before. Which is bullcrap. Where is #IStandWithSyria, #IStandWithIraq, or #IStandWithAfghanistan? But when a western country being attacked, the media making this a big thing. Just look at this. Sums up with how racist the media is. |

Kharkiv is being cleansed the same armored line shown in the earlier videos is now completely destroyed and its soldiers either retreated, dead, or surrendered. traed said: These claims are crazy, it's a war one of the most violent in recent history if you count the number of armored vehicles destroyed and casualties in just 4 days, civilians trying to cope with daily life and get supplies/ check on relatives has always been a thing. Are you trying to validate Putin's ''Military Operation" narrative? Ofc he is not blowing Ukraine to the ground (yet) since he expected to make the Ukrainian civilians turn against its own government and march into Kiyv within 48 hours but so far he has been unsuccessful. Now it's plan B, suffocate the civilian population by bombing gas pipelines and other essential infrastructure and see if they crack down psychologically. You can literally just watch webcams that happen to be in Ukraine if you want unfiltered. I do not like this conflict as it poses a great waste of time and resources that are much better invested in preserving the nature on Earth and dealing with resource scarcity As I've mentioned in the now deleted thread on CD, I'm neutral about this conflict. I'm not fully buying into either side: with the Ukraine and the West claiming that it was a Russian aggression, targeted at bringing back the old Soviet Empire and making the Ukraine a satellite country once again. Nor do I believe fully that the discrimination of the Russian minority and the potential bio weapon laboratories with Ukrainians allegedly burning secret papers were the only reasons for the attack I'm mostly disappointed in the stances of the German-speaking countries. Would have hoped for a bit more neutrality, particularly with the country that is supposed to be "eternally neutral", which was the condition for being actually independent One way out of the conflict that I could imagine would be: 1) the Russians go out of Ukraine, including the people's republics in the east 2) the Americans greatly reduce their presence in Europe or go completely out 3) the EU and especially: the Federal Republic of Germany take up the military defense of Europe themselves 4) the Ukraine gets to be in the EFTA or the EU, but not in the NATO, just like Switzerland or Austria 5) Russia will also come to be in the EFTA or the EU or at least some from of closer economic and cultural ties 6) There will be another referendum for the state of the Crimea at a given date in the future. Both Russian and Ukrainian shall be official languages and treated the same way 7) a world-wide ban on gain-of-function research 8) better minority rights in general in the Ukraine, also in regards to other minorities such as Hungarians 9) a world-wide ban on bio weapons, which include both American ones in Europe, but also Russian and Chinese ones |

Russian columns of tanks are pouring into Kharkov as we speak (in eastern Ukraine - it's the second largest city of Ukraine). Here's hoping Russia can conclude this campaign victoriously, swiftly, and without too much more destruction than is required in order to minimize the reconstruction costs due to the toll on infrastructure and also shorten the window of this new Cuban Missile Crisis, nuclear brinkmanship moment. Russia also, after Putin's meeting with Defense Minister Shoigu, just ordered Russian standoff nuclear forces on the highest possible alert level ready to respond immediately and at a moment's notice to any foreign attack. |

@149597871 @Fate_Saber88 I'd call it military strikes or armed conflict for now. It is a war in that sense just not a war in the sense that there is continuous violence in the cities where most people feel the need to get out or at least take cover some place safer from a strike. I know there is likely other things going on outside of cities but i was specifically talking about the major cities not Ukraine as a whole. I never called it fake just pointing out the interesting way things can go in these situations where people seem to maintain a certain level of normalcy. I don't take sides here. |

Putin has now moved to nuclear blackmail over sanctions. "Dear colleagues, as you see, Western countries are not only taking hostile actions toward our country in the economic sphere—I am talking about the illegitimate sanctions everybody knows about," Putin said in a statement translated to English. That is why I order the Minister of Defense and the Chief of the General Staff to put the deterrent forces of the Russian army in a special regime of duty," he added. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/putin-puts-russia-s-nuclear-deterrent-forces-on-high-alert-in-response-to-illegitimate-western-sanctions/ar-AAUn7Ji?ocid=msedgntp Which is completely expected if the war is not going in his favor. WatchTillTandava said: I did not catch it, (elaborate more about the blitzkrieg and this invasion please... ) what does the blitzkrieg have anything to do with Kiyv being very close to the nearest Russian base? Also, the type of warfare back then was much less complex than nowadays, to put it simply it was way easier to replace a tank, plane, and whatever equipment you lose in battle, you cannot afford to lose hundreds of equipment on the first days of operation nowadays. Why is the blitzkrieg so relevant here? I just can't get it, Poland is a neighboring country, the blitzkrieg can't be compared to Iraq and this war by any means, The Ukrainian army had very few options on an aerial counter-attack and this is the only reason why they advance in certain regions, they just positioned a shitload of troops near Kyiv and that's it, no big deal considering their superiority, if anything just a major fluke. Ukraine is not going to win anyway but the amount of damage is far higher than any major military power could ever accept to take over a much less equipped force right over its doorstep. @WatchTillTandava Because it actually isn't going his way? I have no doubt he will win conventually, eventually. Those are his own words. In response to illegitimate sanctions, in which, he himself didn't even bother with the pretense of the UN and 'weapons of mass destruction' pretense. Pretended the months long buildup was a military exercise and then promptly invaded. Then himself and several key officials throw out threats and put Russia on nuclear alert. Also, Bush told Saddam he was coming for that ass the whole time. During the US build up. |

Well, not to you perhaps, but there's always copium for that. What does 80 years passing or technology changing have anything to do with it in this context? Was Ukraine stuck in a time vortex and only Russia is in 2022? Ukraine and the rest of the world are in the same year and present time and the technology advanced for everyone. Russia is attacking from three directions, but hasn't even used the bulk of its forces. And no "copium" is required on my part - I've seen conflicts like this play out for years in Syria and the insane level of propaganda that is ratcheted up to try to present a fallacious picture to the world. In 2011 it is "Assad will fall in days!!!" then weeks, months...years...eventually!" and that they weren't going to take back Aleppo with Russian help as NATO and Turkey would stop it, etc. On and on. These propaganda blitzes occur every single time there is a war and the fanaticism, loudness, and hysterical nature of it is directly proportional to the geopolitical importance of the conflict and how much they don't want to lose. They can't send U.S., British, French, etc. soldiers in to stop Russia militarily so they try to substitute with the false narrative and disinformation campaigns. You may need the helping of copium when Zelensky is dead, put in a Siberian camp by Spetsnaz operatives, or fled to Poland or Hungary. And when Kiev falls which even U.S. intelligence reports say could be days away. This coup d'etat installed-regime in Kiev is going to be physically dismantled brick by brick and I await the shocked dismay expressed just as with after Crimea, after they didn't win in Syria, etc. Fate_Saber88 said: I did not catch it, (elaborate more about the blitzkrieg and this invasion please... ) what does the blitzkrieg have anything to do with Kiyv being very close to the nearest Russian base? Russia has at least over 4,000 tanks and armor on standby. There is so much in reserves from the old Soviet era with like the world's largest tank fleet. Many people keep referring to how "close" Kiev is, but that doesn't mean you can just walk in unopposed to a major urban centre with defenders with anti-armor weaponry and equipment, a population of three million people (even if most are uninvolved in fighting, it creates a murky situation where civilian casualties can be increased exponentially and forces can blend in with the civilian populace, etc.) and where you haven't even used sustained heavy artillery and strategic bombers yet in any force. Russia has launched Kalibr cruise missiles from the Russian Black Sea Fleet to Kiev, Poltava, Mariupol, etc., and other cities and targets. I suspect what you will see next if Zelensky's representatives don't offer capitulation in name or in essence in the meeting at the Ukrainian-Belarusian border is the beginning of a siege imposed on Kiev. |

https://twitter.com/flightradar24/status/1497953549900447750 Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs confirming the news the world’s largest cargo aircraft, the Antonov #AN225, has been destroyed at Hostomel Airport outside Kyiv. @Soverign Russia and Iran have the same problem. They are funding so much money into their goons overseas that sooner or later the population is gonna have a fissy-fit because all that money isn't gonna be coming to them. Russia has been pouring money into the breakaway regions of Ukraine for like 8 years now and the population is now having runs on the banks. |

"Truth is the first casualty of war", so let's be clear - all sides spread propaganda in wartime and it's been the same throughout every war in human history (but obviously much more effectively on a mass scale with the advent of mass communication in the form of radio, television, and internet, mass mobilization of armies, etc.) I don't speak Russian so when I hear translated Russian statements from the Russian MoD which I consider false and dumb I just ignore and dismiss them out of hand. If I mainly criticize pro-NATO/U.S./anti-Russian propaganda it is because that propaganda is in English, the language I speak, targeted toward other English speakers and people of my own country and I can tell how many naively lap it up. I have a number of things I dislike or would criticize about Russia's domestic and foreign policy, as I do for any other country on the planet to the extent I've looked into it and care enough about it. But Russia's victory in Ukraine will be a great day for the world, for certain. |

Shocking. I'm sure that's news to most people. The latter claim is interesting, because you called Zelensky's democratically elected government an "installed regime" even though I'm sure you don't have proof for that, have been defending this invasion in every way possible and showing SIMPathy for Putin from the very beginning, and even go as far as to use the Soviet/Russian spelling of Kyiv. (Nice touch there, I admit.) You seem totally like just any other concerned Western citizen, and not someone who is arguing in bad faith or have OD-ed on RT. I have a number of things I dislike or would criticize about Russia's domestic and foreign policy, as I do for any other country on the planet to the extent I've looked into it and care enough about it. Oh, so there is something about Russia you don't like. Another shocking statement. I'm pretty sure 99.9999% of the Russian citizens, including the ones that work for the government, and possibly Putin himself can say the same thing, but it has been an eye-opening. For the record, I also have a few things I don't like about every single country around the world to the extent I've looked into it and care enough about it. |

I can't believe the AN225 has gone, there was only one, it was literally unique. End of an era. Photos don't actually do justice as to how large it is. |

WatchTillTandava said: What are you talking about? Russian troops had no foothold in any highly populated area in Kiyv so far, if anything they send small commando troops that hold for a few hours maximum before retreating, there where no high concentration of Ukrainian troops within the border or near it, and most of the land is an exclusion zone and populated by small villages until they get to kiev, so far their only foothold is on the outskirts on north at Antonov airport which is not able to land any aircraft there anymore. Holding the northern outskirts was expected they still need more numbers to achieve anything inside the city and they have amassed troops only 70 miles from it...149597871 said: It couldn't be the difference in power or the fact that 80+ years have passed since then and technology has changed, or the fact that Russia is attacking from everywhere but West with help from Belarus and the situations you are describing are not even remotely comparable. At least this war shatters all the myths about the Russian army being the most badass and well-trained or that Putin is some sort of a strategic genius. I suspect what you will see next if Zelensky's representatives don't offer capitulation in name or in essence in the meeting at the Ukrainian-Belarusian border is the beginning of a siege imposed on Kiev. All troops that advanced deep into residential Kiev were repulsed promptly, and Russian tactics simply resumes in sending personnel up front to the meat grinder. It would be dumb for the Ukrainians to fight the Russians outside the city on the open area. It doesn't matter if they have 4,000 and a shitty soviet reserve that needs some time to reactivate it, all lost equipment cost way too much for the Russian economy, also when they lose these armored vehicles they lose personnel, and pressure comes back home, Putin expected do capitulate in 48 hours and thought it would be a walk in the park. Which is not being and it's far from the ideal military operation, anyway I'm not responding to this topic anymore, it's clear you are emotional about it, and I'm done with your usual ''It's all disinformation warfare" straw man, there are many sources out there, many veteran YouTubers with combat experience taking on this live, it's not like there is a massive conspiration to hide everything and every single press and YouTuber on this planet is linked to it. There is disinformation on all sides but it's much more universal on the Russian state-controlled side I guarantee. |
