OH right and that reminds me, I thought at the end, truck kun was gonna hit her lolz.

Right???? I was expecting the truck when she turned at the end XD.
It was a lost opportunity for golden ending and plot twist, and a good Anime Original ending lolz.

My exact thought, it would have turned the anime to gold, with a final image of Miyamura's face splattered and then credits, without explanations, just a mindblow and wtf face for everyone.

Loved this ;__; <3 Why everyone hated the last episode?
I think the end conclusion was rly good.. I mean, well, satisfying.
Was it bc of the skipping of some chapters of the manga (or so I've heard.. -haven't read the manga yet-)?

Perfect. I'm gonna miss this anime. Turning my pc on and waiting for the next episode to load was nice. Unfortunately, from what I heard, there won't be a second season. But Horimiya was surely one of the best animes of 2021, and my favourite of the season. Hori and Miyamura had some funny moments on this episode, and Sengoku's speech was one of the best moments.

About the animation of the anime, I liked the shadow effects and the characters expressions. The background is also very vivid, and the illumination is well done. The soundtrack is great; OP is catchy, and got stuck in my mind since day one; Ending is memorable and beautiful.

Overally, I'm gonna miss this anime. 10/10

It ended, huh...
I want another season!

That middle "what if" part got me confused at first. After Sengoku commented about Remi cutting her hair, i thought "WTF?! Timeskip? When did they break up?", lol

I guess skipping a bunch of chapters/arcs to adapt the ending is the new trend now. Is there a good point i could jump into manga to read the skipped stuff or did they skip a bunch of earlier chapters too?

I rushed this anime. I was a nice surprise to see a Slice of life so good in this season (I'm a shounen-fan).

The first half of the show was my favorite. A lot of "Horimiya" development. I loved the pace of their relationship, it made the anime more real, considering they spent a lot of time alone on Hori's house.

I also enjoyed the second half, the rest of the cast is charming and they have well defined personalities. Everybody had their spotlight, but once Horimiya are the MCs, I missed them.

There were things that really bothered me by the last few episodes. Like Miyamura's posture. He was so cool!!! Had this sex appeal; looked so different from any other MC. Other thing was the MC couple loosing all their depth, Hori as an angry mom and Miya turned into her menial (we know that's not how they are together, but they appeared only like that when with little screen time). Miyamura insistence on calling Hori by her last name was terrible too. Even more because he called her dad by the first name. But the worst was the attempt of making humor with Hori-san's fetish of being subdued by her partner's violence.

The last episode saved it a little for me because it explained a why Miyamura changed so much. It hurts a lot not being accepted. So, he changed himself starting from inside, by loving Hori and making friends, to the outside, changing his looks (even if it means becoming a less original character).

Well, considering it, for me the anime could have been better with little modifications, but I have to blame the Mangaka for that. The anime had nice aesthetic, nice characters designs, good opening and ending. I am going to recommend it.

I can appreciate an anime that doesn't overstay its welcome. First few episodes made me feel like it would be the feel-good pill of the season, but it got boring at times during the later half, so it was probably good to speedrun the finale.

Personally, the best part of the anime for me was the lil girl with a crush on hori, but she barely showed up after her introduction chapter.

Ending was superb but the adaption was terrible for a slice of life chill anime it skipped almost all of the good sol moments and stuff (152 chapters in 13 eps),overall its like 7.5/10 only because the animation, soundtracks and overall vibe of the anime was so good and even if it skipped tons of chapter, the ones that were adapted were awesome.

They probably skipped a lot of stuff though just to animate 152 chapters into 13 episodes this would've worked better as a 24 episode anime to really delve into the characters and have better pacing of material instead of what we got.

I didn't read the manga, but even still I give it an 8/10 cause I liked what I saw.

"If that tiny happenstance where Hori saw how hot I was underneath my glasses had never happened, I woulda been so screwed" - Miyamura this whole episode.

IDK the whole "I had fun thanks to you" by Sakura wasn't backed up by too many moments in the series. Definitely parts of the manga were skipped.

Lowkey thought he was gonna say " a kick in the head" at the end there when he was like "I know what you like better" lol. 6/10 anime for me. Toru was the only character I liked throughout the series.

Finally.... it ended... the beautiful journey of HoriMiya.. Right about almost the same time as the Manga ended....

Few days before graduation, Everybody tidied up and bring back home their belongings in the class.. almost everybody still had a lot of leftover belongins except Hori that already moved her belonging earlier. Looking at her "free space" of hands and thinking of how strong she is everybody asking her to bring some of their belongings XD..... that kinda pissed her off haha... looking by her sour face. It turns out Iura also almost has no belongings left...until everybody realizes they got his belongins like his lended CD,DVD, and books and now his hands also full XD. His carefreeness just put Hori even pissed off after also asking Hori to hold some of his belongins because he think she is powerful woman hahaha.......

Meanwhile in the student council room... Remi cheerly asking for a trip to a zoo together by after Kakeru and Akane kinda supporting the idea since Akane also getting driver license soon... but that idea straightly rejected by Sakura since that idea kinda hard to execute as a high schooler (She behave like a mother in here XD). Unsatisfied Remi then trying to get out when Sakura realizes that Remi hasn't finished everything she want to say and stopped her following with an adorable forcing pinch attack into her cheeks XD... Well she actually feared that everyone will forget each other in the future after graduation, so that the reason she wants to go to a trip together. And in the end they all agreed to go to the beach sometimes in the future after Akane got his License.

In Hori's household, Izumi and Kyouko enjoying their moments together in Kotatsu while Kyouko taking a nap and snuggling on Izumi's lap. In that silent noon Somehow Izumi's wondering and imagining an "IF" case of Him didn't meet Kyouko(from Souta cases) and how his life gonna be that's happen. there's a lot of quite dull things like how almost all of them didn't recognize each other.. (OFC everybody also didn't Miyamura), Sengoku and Remi didn't date, everybody had their own circle of friends(Tooru & Shu, Hori & Yuki, Remi & Sakura), and several different appearances like Yuki with long hair and Remi with short hair. in the end of reminiscing his "IF" cases of life Izumi come to accepting his gloomy dull past self and embracing it together with his current present self now with Kyouko and everyone beside him and supporting him while both of them enjoying their sweet moments in Kotatsu together :3.

Moving on to graduation day.....
Miyamura sneezes when Sengoku was started to read his speech embarassing entire hall and Sengoku himself XD ( just like Hori's dad and Sengoku's dad
in the past, only in manga tho they didn't adapted that :|). Once again Miyamura remiscing how he becoming now while embracing his inner gloomy shadow and accepting that it was part of him too. There were some graduation moments like photos and so on. Sakura giving her regards to Tooru and Yuki(Especially Tooru, for letting her to loved him OFC) and saying she like them both as Yuki overheard them and thinking of how Sakura leaving her "feelings" in this school forever. She met Akane afterwards and talking about the trip that Akane mentioning earlier with student council gang. Hori's dad coming to the graduation and asking to photo together with Miyamura while everybody enticed by how young is he and he pretending to be Miyamura's dad XD.. until Hori spot him and unleash her rages at him hahaha..it was hilarious XD. Iura being easygoing as ever in front of his friends until suddenly his lil sis, Motoko fetch him up and surprised with that easygoing act of him XD, even questioning is he really her brother or not XD....
and... its ended with both of HoriMiya going home together and holding hand together enjoying their graduation while some monologue from Izumi how grateful he is meeting and being together with Kyouko rn, and how he could see how both strong and weak she is and because of that now he can enjoy what bright day together. He also really grateful that She also breaking his "dark reality" of thinking that he always alone and even wanting to had a future together with him. and... with sweet spring wind blowing this beautiful story end....

Glad they showed some panels from Manga chapters that they skipped like their first school trip together, Jealous Miyamura, School festival, Miyamura figh with Hori and a lot more :3( still wishing they got adapted thoooo :((( ).

Beautiful OP and ED, and the sequence kinda change too as the story progress especially after Miyamura and Hori's dating, there are bit of OP sequence frame that changing from dark into cheery/light.

Yeapp they jumped over to 3 final chapters(121,122, and 123) and fully adapted them(although kinda missing few panels like sengoku's dad in the graduation day and so on..)

Man.. it's really over both the source and adaptation... they really clamped and adapted whole 120-ish manga chapter into 13 episode anime. Well..... they kept some Vital chapter and adapted it beautifully... Still.. i wish it was longer maybe 24/26 at least since there is a lot more great and awesome chapter that could be adapted. Yeah but still i'm really satisfied and really happy with this... 9 years or almost 10 years since this was first published and even more longer if we talking about the web version(Hori-san to Miyamura-Kun) that came in on 2007 IIRC and...i've been reading their wonderful story since then...(that version also got adapted in an OVA too tho for 4 episodes and'll be getting 2 more in near future). I hope they made another OVA about their future plus (SoutaYuna + KyosukeYuriko from Omake). and even better another Omake + OVA about HoriMiya in their adult days :D.

Well, I'm really grateful and thanks a lot for HERO-Sensei for starting with WM of Hori-san to Miyamura-kun and continuing with HoriMiya version together with Hagiwara-Sensei. this just become first and one of my Top+Favorites Romcom since my younger days :D. Thanks to cloverworks too for adapting it beautifully and gracely despite skipping chapters and so on, I still really enjoying and loving it :).. i meant after all these years tho 9-10 years... can't wait for any OVA or omakes and OFC 2 OVA's from WM version too later.. ah and LA too..., i haven't watched it yet.

I might kinda really being overly subjective, but since i really loved the series as a whole (WM, Manga, adaptation, LA) beautiful 10/10 for me.... thank's HoriMiya for brighten my day :DD.

This show is simply mediocre at best.

The name of this anime should be changed from Horimiya to Horimiya+Others. While it's all nice to get some background on the other characters, in the second half it felt like the two main characters switched their roles into the supporting characters instead. I was really disappointed in this.

Hori Kyoko's behavior around episodes 6-8 really made me feel disgusted. Forcing her boyfriend to act 'rough' because she thought it was 'hot' was very baffling and annoying. And the fact that her boyfriend went along with it even though he hated the idea of hitting her was just a big NO for me. I'd get it if this was meant to be a one time thing for comedic relief, but it went on for around three episodes. And let's not forget how horrible she treats him despite how he always listens to her requests. She's like the possessive, violent stalker you want to keep your distance from.

Then there is Miyamura Izumi. The story's plot and the somber background music at times made it as if it was setting up for something "tragic" to occur or as though it would reveal his tragic past. While bullying is not good, I thought it was just too...anticlimactic. It felt like there was something more to his past. I kept waiting for more about his past to be revealed, thinking there was something else that made Izumi start piercing his ears in middle school and getting a tattoo, but nothing happened. What frustrated me even more is how he stopped wearing his earrings after he started dating Hori. Rather than saying he changed after getting a girlfriend and making friends, it's better to say that he forced himself to change for their sake.

Well, I haven't read the manga but I did hear that they skipped a lot to stuff in the series in 13 eps. I pretty much regret watching this before reading the manga. I might have liked this better if I read it first. In the end, I think the "13 episodes" restricted the story, and made the creators screw up with the pacing. It felt like they were going for "serious romance" due to Miyamura's past and how Hori has to take care of everything at home due to her parents barely being there at the start, only to switch to "comedy romance" in the second half.

I'd recommend giving the manga a try before watching this anime. Just think of the anime as an appetizer that uses music and visuals to tempt people into reading the manga or as a supplement for current fans. Edit: Well, if Hori's personality is the same in the manga, I'll probably not read it.

What a waste....4/10 for me.

A decade of stories has come to an end. This series will go down in history as a timeless classic for sure. One of the best romance slice of life out there.
HoriXMiyamura will forever be an iconic couple. Gonna miss em now that the journey's ended.

Damn I really need a family in law like the Horis. A father-in-law like Kyousuke who treats you like his own kid, a mother-in-law like Yuriko-san who cheers you on, a kid brother like Souta who adores you and a partner like Kyouko who will love you till the ends of time.
When someone asks me why I like anime, I'd say Just Because.

I think you should start from chapter 1. Horimiya's pretty fun so it's not gonna be boring reading through chapters they already covered in the anime and besides they skipped a lot of chapters here and there and went to the ending. so there really isn't any good point to jump into the series haha.

I'm glad that the anime ending decided to match the manga ending. But, that means that we most likely won't get another season of adaptation :(. Nevertheless, so grateful that one of my favourites manga got properly adapted after almost 9 years since it's published.

They really made Sakura talk to Tooru like that... I started hitting myself because I couldn't stand it. Of what would've been a perfect pair for me.

I am too old to be getting sentimental with a high school show, but Sakura deserved more. She deserved more...

I am not too fond of the two main characters, because the whole roster of high schoolers are better than them. But they still made me laugh from time to time. A very simple show, straight to the point. Some characters were left out and some others had their screentime.

Remi and Sakura were my favorites. This time, supporting characters were the stars of the show. And the music, can't wait for the soundtrack.

7/10

Towards the later episodes, I was starting to feel a lot more rushing and skipping. Satisfied with the finale, but just wished they adapted more of the manga that I assume they missed a lot of.

9/10, but really tempted to drop it lower if I ever get around to read the manga.

13 episodes is not enough at all. We’ve been waiting for a horimiya anime for years, me included. It’s so sad to see it start and end in just one season. I enjoyed anime overall, it’s a solid show, but to think that it’s already ended is really frustrating

I liked this series, but I have to admit that II was disappointed in the romance aspect. I mean there seemed to be more focus on other characters from episodes 6-12, and I wasn’t a huge fan of all of them. I did like this finale episode, but I feel like it was missing something. I guess I bought into the hype and expected more of a focused romance on the mcs. And it definitely seemed a bit rushed. Oh well, it’s a 7.5/10 for me.

Really nice ending episode. However, I can't help but feel that the last few episodes have been rushed through overall, considering the final volume of Horimiya which ends on the graduation came out only just recently. Did they seriously not have enough confidence in the material the finish this season at a halfway point and then have a second season which finishes on the graduation?

It's weird, because I enjoyed this series a lot, especially getting to see into the lives of so many characters. But even though it felt satisactory as story overall, finishing so soon after the source material ends up leaving that feeling that there is so much that we've not been able to see :(

Like many others, can't help but feel like I missed a lot as an anime-only. It seems like each side character was given about an episode of development and not much more. And there wasn't much more explored once the main couple got together. I guess CloverWorks played it safe because if they set this up for second season, perhaps they might mess it up like a certain other series.

But it was pretty wholesome throughout and I did enjoy what we got.

This anime had many issues. Many characters’ introductions were very random and the next 2 minutes they act like they have been friends for months. Then said characters disappear for half season. Drama moments were a mess and cringe most of the time. The overall directing was a mess tbh.

I really can’t see this one higher than a 4 or 5 if I had to give it a serious and honest score, but although it dropped the ball hard after the first episodes, I’ll still give it a 7 because of enjoyment

To be honest even if 80% of the characters were utterly trash, development was trash as well, the romantic aspect expect few exceptions trash, development/dialogues was poor i enjoyed this show and i really liked the last episode felt almost emotional, loved that Miyamura confrontation with his hypothetical himself if he didn’t opened up. I get why lot of people trash this show but in the end i enjoyed this looking at it for a romantic comedy standard, it’s a solid 6/7 for me, sadly they haven’t focused on the social adaptation theme that would’ve been interesting

Tbh it felt really fast this last episode, it was way too fast. Like how can it end like this?
I honestly thought this was the perfect romance anime since it had everything i wanted, but i realized one thing was missing, their life after school and we had none of that. We also didn't get to see their marriage, Yuki x Tooru and a lot more stuff, so yeah for sure not only 1 but as far as the romance story goes it was almost perfect, almost since no marriage

They could have at least announced a few ova's but i guess it is what it is.
I am still not quite sure but 8-9/10.

Ngl I enjoyed this anime A LOT, one of my favorites this season, but... I thought this was just season 1?... And now I'm reading that that was the end of the manga and they skipped a lot of chapters. So this changes things.
I found this a very good show, I actually was interested in all (or at least most) characters and their relationships and I thought we were gonna get some development for them... But that was it :P
I'm sad that this was the end of the series, to be honest.

Really loved this series. It's the first show where I was fully satisfied after each episode. It wasn't too quick (like 24 minutes feeling like 5), or too slow/dragging on. For me it somehow really hit the sweet spot. I don't know why or how, maybe the pacing, but it was really unique in this regard for me.

Such a good final episode! It made me really emotional. Overall I think it was a very good romance/SoL anime, one of the best of this season. Main couple was good and their relationship seemed believable, side characters were also pretty interesting. I saw a lot of people unhappy about how anime skipped many chapters, but I am actually don't really mind it. It was obvious from the beginning that CloverWorks didn't want to do season 2, so they put everything in 1 season and it worked out pretty well. It is definitely not a worst adaptation of the season(promised neverland).
5/5 for the final episode.

What a show. I really enjoyed seeing these characters interact and grow, not just with love interests, but with all sorts of relationships.

Of course, there were episodes that dragged a bit, and going through a breakup around episode 6 did cloud my enjoyment, but still, I can acknowledge that there is something beautiful here.

I had hope Miyamura would get back his long hair til the very end and they shattered it! Why is it hard to have a protagonist with long silky hair? Why do they have to chop it off all the time? Inuyasha's hair is not as smooth as Sesshomaru's so he doesn't count.

This episode was actually nice. All that imagination of "what if?" was really nice. Glad everything turned out greatly.

Loved how that final scene was built. The animation, the OST, everything... amazing.

So this was the final MANGA chapter? Well, that´s surprising. I understand all that hate then

Well its over.. loved the comedy but wasn't a big fan of the drama.
Also wayyy too many characters this show expects you to care about.
Overall a 6/10, first half was amazing and second half was eh.

Ngl kinda mad that they skipped right to the end of the manga, since I buy english volumes they spoiled the ending for me haha, but they also skipped so much stuff there will still be enough new material in the last volume for me I bet... but the episode itself was really good imo, I just wish that the anime would have focused more on the slice of life aspect of the manga and ended the anime with ep 12 ending

you finished the anime and didn't expect it to.. be the same as the manga?
