Is that so ? Well for me i was confused and then I looked at chapter discussions to confirm whether it was him or not . I got really hyped when I found it was him .

I read the entire Marley arc in one go cuz I had only started after Season 3 part 1, so I guess I was lucky xd

This is the best episode so far
Those first five minutes were beautiful and they handled the pacing well too but I still hate those overly blurred backgrounds

Overall great episode, although I feel like we're losing that original season one AoT energy... it's a bit more.. heavy and tired in comparison to the usual angst and screaming...it's been a long time since someone's been eaten LOL.

Sidenote, I definitely spent a good ten minutes googling the VA of Eren because it sounded like Eren until they showed his face. Wow... I guess time is real. (But also where's Mikasa and the others?)

So Reiner is having major PTSD/regret to sending his friends off to go die, but to be fair -- even though they were together since they were young -- Friend is a bit of an overstatement. If anything, he was closer to those in the wall vs those he traveled with. He's starting to remind me of a more washed out Erwin in his latter days of regret.

Ironic jaws got eaten by a pair of jaws.

I liked the episode a lot, but I wish they high lighted a little bit more the suicide panel. I totally understand why they didn´t though, lol.

Laina is cool, but now that Kruger appeared it´s time for things to start go crazy.

So with this we should have a very solid idea of the pacing. Each episode may vary a little and there may be some rearrangements, but we are solidly in 2 chapters per episode territory. So we can assume:
Episode 4 - Chapters 97 and 98,

Episode 5 - Chapters 99 and 100,

Episode 6, 7, 8 -

Gonna be wack to see Willy for only two episodes but I guess Mappa will make every minute count. The real question is how anime-onlies will react to everything, if it will have the desired impact on them.

Damn, I just realised a thing during rewatch. Bertold says that he doesn't understand why the guy they met told them his story before hanging himself. And that's exactly what Reiner does in this episode, he recollects his memories, his biggest griefs, before shooting himself in the head. Just daaamn

he stopped at the last second, but that was what he was trying to do. So I guess that's why mappa kept the moment with a farmer in the anime.

But I'm bummed out they left out the end of Reiner speech where he addresses Eren directly: "Eren, we were just kids, we didn't know anything", this line wrecked me in manga, and it's so short they could've easily kept it. Also then

Loved the episode. Felt a little fast-paced, but it mostly works since we already know a lot of what the flashback was going over. Also that's definitely Eren right? Kinda wish I came in 100% blind so I wouldn't be able to tell right away.

It's pacing was a little fast imo.
And they didn't show Marcel getting eaten. Guess that they are reducing the gore.
But, overall great episode. [4.5/5] for me.

Anime only here:
Been seeing a lot about fast pacing and putting a few chapters in this one episode but to me, it just seemed like another great, well-written, well-paced episode and Eren’s dagger eyes were EPIC, had to pop off after that, but this episode has really made Reiner and Colt warm on me, I’m now very curious to see what their fates will be by the end

Isayama, that guy has little faith in his own works, sad!

Dude, seriously!??? They will not adapt the entire series in 16 episodes! The director alredy said this. Yeah, they cut things in this episode but nothing important.
umm, did I say entire series? 32 chapters include 91-122, not the entirety.

Just chill bro :)
It's only my opinion. I was telling this bcoz, also in the 1st episode they hid the severed face of a titan with smoke. But, the titan's face was shown in the manga.

I read your comment above.
It's true that they should have extended the Wall Maria Infiltrating scene a little more.

btw, what's your opinion on how many chapters are more in the manga?

I pity Reiner coz he was raised by a mother like Karina, who despised her own roots and think too highly of Marleyans who are treating them as disposables. The Armored Titan was even awarded to him just because Marcel is kind older brother. He's probably regretting everything that he did for him to resort to suicide, but he failed.

Welp, they were all tricked and raised to believe that killing their own kind is the only way there is. They're obviously forced to do something they don't wanna do, especially Annie. It's very apparent from the previous seasons as well that Annie doesn't want what she does but she doesn't have any choice, for her father I guess.

The transitions are so cool, even the mugshots while introducing the new inheritors of the Titan Powers!

Mr. Kruger or Eren kinda showed sympathy for Falco, even wished him to live a longer life, because he's a good kid. So far, Falco and Colt are the only Eldians in Marley that I like, aside from Reiner and Annie. In spite of that, Eren is dead set to keep moving forward.

I'm not really liking the quality of Mappa, there were a few times while watching this episode my mind starting saying "why does it look so bad right now, is it mappa or my monitor?"

I'm just hoping they're saving their budget for the later episodes. Every season I've rated 10, but this is the first time I'm rating it lower than 10 because of the low quality, maybe covid-19 is affecting their ability to produce high quality anime.

Fantastic episode, though some scenes could have transitioned better and some cutting of not really necessary panels but, other than that another 5/5 episode.

Damn, that showcase of the titans were fucking awesome. And Reiner's backstory always hits different, one of the best characters of the series. Also good to see Annie.

More world building but in this case it was really nice even though I'm a guy who wants action every second.

Flashback to the past, what they went through and Reiner being sad that he was wrong and lost a good friend(at least that's what I thought) is beautiful. Great episode even for it's lack of action for me.

Every time I see people whining about new episode of AoT, I want to throw my phone. When the manga chapters came out I swear most of the readers were like, "Ugh, another Reiner flashback, it's too long, show us our main cast, bla bla". But of course as time grew they understood why the build-up needed that much time. And now when they know everything they are expecting every panel to get animated? Of course no vital information would be cut off. May be wait for more episodes? Wit did the same thing. May be the anime will add vital information when they are relevant to the context. The whole time skip and new characters are already causing much confusion and you expect a random information about *-----* would be easier to handle for the anime watchers? When the chapters came out, even we manga readers were confused. Because it's a monthly manga, we could take our time to analyze, to sympathize with Reiner and other characters. But even so, I swear, I have seen people in MAL and Reddit forums whining why the flashbacks are taking too long, why we aren't getting back to the main story and stuff like that. Yes, the Reiner moments could've been longer in the anime. But it's not like this episode is ruined. You feel it rushed only because it took months for us to get to this point with all those Reiner flashback panels. Even though we are getting info dump in every episode, there are still people who keep saying, "Uh nothing extraordinary happened in this episode, it's just them speaking, it's boring bla bla". Although it's only a handful amount of people, but, the anime watchers who are actually into the plot and characters, are loving the pacing and the direction. Tbh anime watchers are posing to be more insightful in their reactions and reviews than average manga readers, which is a shame. The manga readers just keep whining in each episode, why this why not this bla bla. Keep crying you guys.

Oh, also when the anime watchers are just happy about an episode, and happy about theorizing by their own, you manga readers just love to ruin the episode for them. For your constant nitpickings and whining, the anime watchers are questioning themselves and that is such a big turn off. They are actually thinking the adaptation is bad, which in NO WAY is. No wonder people say this fandom is toxic.

Sure these comment can be annoying sometimes but still, people should be able no form their own opinion.

The adaptions has been great so far. I have few complaints here and there but for the most part I'm really thankful for all the effort MAPPA has put into the final season. AND it does show on screen. it's just that some people will not be satisfied if 1% of the episode is not PERFECT.

WTF Mappa!!!! What kind of pacing is that, looks like I'm watching Batman v Superman all over again. The cut too much content, I don't feel the Reiner's mental battle of be a soldier or a warrior, with is one of the best part of the manga. I feel nothing about Reiner's father call him a devil. The scene with Reiner create a new persona after Marcel dies lost all of the meaning and the weight. The scenes with Ysaiama creates parallels between Reiner, Beth, and Annie and Eren, Armin and Mikasa pass so fast that i blink my eye and it is over. And Mappa don't explain what Annie is follow Kenny and What they don't steal the Founder Titan. What to expect of the same studio behind the God of high school (Sorry for my sketchy English, English is not my first or second language)

It's... very hard for me to blame those guys for doing what they did... they were just products of their environment/circumstances like everyone else over there. The best time to mold someone's views, beliefs, etc. is when they are children, as that is the period they are most pliable in. Forcing your religious, political, etc. views on your child will make them blindly mirror you in belief those views are correct.. it happens all the time, inevitably. This episode was very tragic..
