I'd read that Thunderbolt was fine to watch standalone without having watched Gundam before, and I think that's true, but I still don't feel I fully understood the setting or context of the show's story. But the characters were interesting, the music was good, and the fights were satisfyingly brutal if a little heartbreaking at some points. My only complaint is that, even recognizing my lack of Gundam knowledge, it felt like the show was holding back on exposition for its specific setting and characters. I didn't feel like I really cared about most of the characters' relationships with each other, but it's also a 4 episode ONA so maybe I'm asking too much. Overall, I enjoyed it, and this has probably pushed me closer to diving into the rest of the Gundam franchise. Challenge Post |

The longer it goes on, the more frustrating it becomes. The first short episode was quite amusing. The second one was funny apart from the last segment. The third made me sigh. The character designs and OP haven't changed from the prequel so there's not much to comment about that. Inu x Boku has a promising concept but falls flat on its face with its execution. |
