@Returnbywaifu

I agree that people can't use the same argument to justify all of Subaru's actions. But in this case, I don't think it has anything to do with his mental state: I think he didn't tell Beatrice that he was, "that person," because 1) Beatrice already seemed to come to that conclusion, and 2) Subaru wants Beatrice to be saved without some book that predetermines her fate. At first, I wondered why, if it was so easy to kill Beatrice via stabbing, why she didn't just ask someone to kill her. But I think the subtext may be that Beatrice doesn't completely want to die.

Still didn't ask Beatrice to ask the question did ya? Unless I misinterpreted and the "will you kill me?" is the question. I guess "are you that person" could work too

That scene with Roswaal at the end gave me big Subaru's dad vibes. I don't know why but his eyes and his eyebrows reminded me of his dad, and then that line "...so you can become like me." It reminded me of how Subaru wanted to become like his dad until his first trial.

I dont really get something about witch cult - they worship only Satella, right? But use the powers of sloth/greed/gluttony because they are also her powers, since Satella killed all other witches. Or am I wrong and there are cults for every witch?

Also we already saw greed bishop in the first episode, right? Can there be two of them? Cause my theory is that Roswaal is some sort of Echidna's archbishop/fan/lover trying to avenge or bring back his waifu. At this point its obvious that he is deelpy connected with her, having 2 true books that show future, and her library and guardian spirit in mansion, etc.
The opinions of people with shit taste, such as yourself, may differ of course.

Anime skipped this but during one of the previous conversations with Roswaal, Subaru asks if Beatrice has contract with him.
Here it is how it was in the LN:
Subaru asks: "What exactly is the contract between you two?"
Roswaal answers: "That's not like that Subaru. We are not bound by any contract"
Seeing that Subaru is confused by the answer, he adds: "There is noting in particular between me and Beatrice. She lives in the mansion because it suits her. And me too. The contract that binds her to the Forbidden Library she's made with someone else"

Another thing that anime skipped. Subaru knows that Puck can make the snow fall, but since Emilia is not dead he knows it's not him. He discussed this with Garfiel and they've concluded that another powerful mage, like Roswaal, could do that.

This episode is trending everywhere and I know that was expected because...

THIS EPISODE WAS TOTALLY INTENSE WOW
WOW WOW WOW WOW
A million feelings in 26minutes, despair and a lot of surprising plot twist. All time I was posting in whatsapp stories some reactions and things like "NO NO NO NO NO this can't be happening". The total of post was almost 20 post for biggest reactions and some theorys.

The Beako part really broke me, since the first time she appeared I liked her, in the last episodes I was afraid that she could do selfish things because of the book, but now... WOW
I then I was
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO...

The direction in this episode was perfect! The way they move the camera in the and was really great and this scene... WOW

And I thought that Roswaal told Subaru about the thing before, how did Subaru didn't knew???
Thinking on his obsession with Emilia and what he did in this episode, to make her be lonely and desparate, I guess he is tryng to make Emilia be emotionally weak to one of the witches take her body or something like this. I think that he wants to meet Satella.

That was a lot to unpack in one episode.

First, we got Beatrice saving Subaru like a G.

Then we get Emilia I believe at first I thought she was possessed by Satella I believe now she just went insane. Why that is IDK yet.

https://i.imgur.com/uZ5vkfr.jpg

Im with you here. I think the 1st time we see her she's possessed by Satalla. Which is why the I love you doesnt work and the kiss is wrong. Its also why Subaru reacts the way he does and leaves Emilia inside and goes outside. Then once Subaru returns to Emilia the second time she's mentally damaged from it all.

My head is still swirling from all that happened. I'm going to have to wait till i get off work at 3am to watch it again.

I have 1 big question that has bothered me this whole season since leaving the capital.. Where The F*** IS PUCK!

I felt sorry for Beatrice. She's been waiting for 400 years for her salvation all alone. I definitely thought Emilia was possessed by the witch but it seems she's just lost her mind.

Is Roswaal a spirit created by Echidna as well??? But he was bleeding at the end though.

This has to be the most traumatizing episode for Subaru.
Hearing those words from Beatrice and then seeing her die.
After hearing about the massacre in the village, the realization comes that he has to restart again - even though things seemed to be going smoothly this time...
Seeing the person you love in a terrible state when she's basically a husk of her former self, turned into a sad, insane creature.
Finally getting a kiss of your dreams, from the girl you value more than your life - but she's no longer Emilia you knew...

I can't imagine how Subaru's mind won't break at this point. This was 100x worse than seeing Emilia/Ram getting killed - he saw her mentally degenerated - at her lowest point perhaps. Too many emotional moments with Bettie, truths, horrors, sadness, hopelessness... God, i hope they'll not end this season on a MASSIVE cliffhanger...
RiP Subaru...

This was said: "To maintain and curate this library's knowledge is what my contract demands, I suppose." (Beatrice). "Library of knowledge?" (Subaru). "She enjoyed storing up knowledge more than anything else." (Beatrice) right before Subaru asked if she was contracted to Echidna. Since Subaru knows that Echidna is the Witch of Greed that wants all knowledge, he put 2 and 2 together.

He knew that the snow wasn't there in previous loops and there are only a couple beings that could have caused it. Puck being one of them, but he isn't around and Emilia is still alive so he didn't go berserk causing it to snow like in the 1st season when Emilia died. So next in line would be Roswaal.

Well I am out of words, and can't say anything new...
This might be the most emotionally disturbing episode I have ever seen in the pathetic amount of anime I have watched.
There are so many unknown info (tho some are acquired slowly) for Subaru. Every scenario is a smirking checkmate - be it the Sanctuary or the Mansion or even the village itself. There are still chances of Subaru taking the trials, committing suicide, and then after people of the Sanctuary gets freed, go back to the mansion with an army . Then maybe free Beako to fight Elsa together; leave the mabeasts to Garfiel, Freddie and loli army. This is the only solution that comes to mind. But before that we need ANSWERS.

"All truth is meaningless. In the end, 'meaning' comes from the mind of each individual human. Even when there is a single truth, it can mean different things to different individuals. The truth has no meaning in itself!" - Erika Furudo

Next week and next amazing episode

I'm sure they improved back on the quality as especially in first half you could spot much better and smooth animations

But still, It's first time episode didn't give us any new info, just confirmed some speculations about Echidna being Beatrice's mother, Roswaal knowing that Subaru can do RbD but has no clue how exactly it works etc. I'm only suprised by all this time Subaru didn't reset.

Something that was interesting is that Beatrice like Subaru can use dark magic, like Shamac etc, and i wonder if he will ask her to teach him something in the future.
(PS. fight was epic and episode was 10/10 just because we could see Beatrice in epic action)

Elsa... someone has any clue what happend there? Magic? Some trick? How she survived that?

Well... not a lot to talk about after this one... well we just got even bigger reason to hate Roswaal, but i have to say last scene with him teaching Subaru he has to have a point to be able to win or he will lose himself was nice. I guess he will have some 'deep secret' we will learn what made him do it and wanting to kill the dragon (like standard story: 'he killed my family and i promise im going to kill him' or smth)

And with every it makes me think more that Elsa and Meili work for Roswaal. As only he and Beatrice has book of wisdom because of which it would be possible (and he confirmed it again in this loop). That would mean he sent them to kill off everything that could make Subaru disperse his foucus from Emilia. That would also mean sending her in first season was to find someone who can support her by finding the inignia

What a dilemma with Roswaal and Beako. Both have lived long enough being manipulated by the fate of the book. One wishes to be freed from life of eternity, while the other grasps on every kind of opportunity, be it from the darkest side; to make things right.
Subaru has a long way to go to reach Roswaal to understand his true goal.
This episode was so hard to watch with all those deaths. Beako wishing to be loved, Garf who died for his love, Rem who lost on her utmost loyalty and Emilia who lost her sanity (for a sec I thought it was Sattella, and then when I realized; it was much sad).

Also what kind of abomination is Elsa. She keeps on getting back like a nut case every season. She's far scarier than the Archbishops.
When someone asks me why I like anime, I'd say Just Because.

the only thing that comes to my mind is that he knows about Rabbits and to buy them time or exactly to buy time Subaru, he went off so to not lure them.
He knows way more than we i'm sure though

But it looks like the movie is strongly connected so we might learn he went to fight (/get something) with one of the monster/spirits from the movie
The biggest clue is the mabeast we saw in the mansion few episodes back

Where did it confirm Echidna being Beatrice's mother? I know that it was said Beatrice was contracted to Echidna, but that isn't the same. Also, Beatrice is a spirit, while Echidna is a witch, kind of strange for a spirit to be the daughter of a witch.

looks like endeed emilia is satella.
probably her future self of a failed future world.

So to save satella is to actually save emillia into becoming her.

He beats Subaru to force him to change the past. That's why he asks if he's already changed it.

Context clues for the first one, based on his convos with her, Roswaal and Echidna. Many fans have been theorizing this for a while now. Notice the butterfly bow she has & the butterfly motif in her eye, along with the tea set next to her seat. Sound familiar? (spoiler alert: tea and butterflies are Echidna's main thing)

For the second one, only Roswaal and true form Puck are powerful enough to cause snowstorms, with Roswaal being introduced as the No.1 mage in the country. What other person could've caused it? They didn't show his thought process but that was pretty much the logical conclusion he came to there.

They also showed us what happend every time that Subaru went away and left Emilia there, she went completely nuts, she must've suffered through so much to get to that point, and that has happend quite a lot by now, poor Emilia.
By the way, that last scene was kinda spooky and left us in a perfect cliffhanger.

ryuzu has all the villagers around her, has house of her own and has duties for the community as the village Elder....and she has Garf who is family to her she has people who cares about her
but Betty has none of that! she's living with Mathers family for 400 years who don't really care about her, so it's not like it's her own house it's only because the Mathers have connections to Echidna and have also contracts and duties to uphold, so betty was really lonely unlike ryuzu
also betty is bound to a ROOM, ryuzu is bound to a village it's totally not the same thing!

This is pretty damn crazy, great episode though.

Curious how this situation is gonna change. The mansion is almost a lost cause and if Subaru goes to the mansion he risks losing Emilia.

Betty pouring her heart out. :(
I take it, the first time Subaru got teleported into the snow, it was because of Betty as well?

The Emilia scene was just brutal, felt really sad for her. So she ended up that way everytime Subaru went to the mansion instead? Is Satella possessing her or is that really her just breaking completely? :(

Roswaal, like damn.

The Kiss of Death was just painful.

I think I need to rewatch some this season again to pick up on more stuff.

Her cloak protects her from magic, as seen in episode 2 or 3 of the first season, I forget which one exactly, but Emilia attacked her and she blocked it with her cloak and it faded away, and Elsa commented that it came in handy - so it's a one time use (notice that her cloak is gone when she stabs Beatrice)

So... so much death....

I mean like, talk about being caught in a deadlock. How the hell is he exactly supposed to do this?
Cause he can't go back to the mansion cause what happened in this episode would just happen again, and we've seen him go back there like three times now.
Maybe he has to send a message to Frederica to warn her shomehow, while staying inside of the sanctuary with Emilia to deal with the trial. Idk man.

Ya know what, it kinda makes sense how Beatrice has a contract with Echidna. Would've never have guessed it though.
Man I really don't want Beatrice to die. I actually don't want anyone to die as a matter of fact.
Also how the hell did she not get Elsa there? Although, no one actually ever dies when they're shot at by a barrage of projectiles anyways right?

And don't even get me started on Roswaal. Like damn, the dude really killed Ram just to kill Garfiel. Really need to know more about him either in the next 2 episodes or in part 2.

Fantastic episode nevertheless, but god do I hope things go better for Subaru next episode...

Beatrice has been stuck with her contract to guard the library and wait for "that person" for over 400 years but "that person" never showed up. so she's so sick of it all she just wants to be freed from her restraint and die (and since spirits can't kill themselves they need someone else to do it for them).
If you piece everything together, you'll see that Emilia lost her mind due to whatever happened in the trial (maybe she passed it at the cost of losing her mind, i dunno)

Roswaal called me out and maybe most viewers while i was in brief shock and disgust at his actions i didn't grief but hes becoming even more interesting with how untrust worthy and suspect he is

didn't realize snow could cause Emillia to get so unstable that went over my head so the whole time it wasn't that a lot of time had passed when Subaru got teleported just simply Roswaal causing it calling all the rabbits with the high amount of magic

to add to this i really thought it was someone else to think she'd actually go full yandere reminds me of a certain someone

Also how did he escape them to die in Emilia's lap?
He used Ryuzu clones to get there.

I see, thanks! That was left out of the anime.
I think I don't know wtf I'm doing. Maybe. Probably.

It wasn't the snow that caused Emilia to be unstable. She didn't go yandere either; yanderes are violent.

Oh man Betty.....

I have some theories and guesses...

At first I thought Roswaal could have Return-to-death too but he says he cannot start over,
I am guessing that the "That person" is a person who has return-to-death and Im also guessing that Echidna told this to Roswaal and Betty? Garfield's death was really shocking.

My theory is that Emilia has a dual personality and here we saw Satella (maybe), is that why she could not face her past because she saw her self as Satella?

Man this is one Big-brain show, damn...
