I stuck it out for 13 episodes, if there's a season 2 I won't be bothering to watch it weekly, I'll wait until its finished airing, check the reviews and them maybe watch it.

5/10 - almost as bad as Yesterday wo Uttate.

Yeah the director fucked up with a lot of dialogue and even cut a lot of character development and important information. Also in the webtoon nobody cried :/ sad that they even had to change that

I played with my phone during that monologue or whatever it was that Rachel was doing. Didn't like her since I know how much more she'll do in the webtoon. Too bad, anime will drag it out and I will have to endure Rachel for a long, long time.

At first I was like 'She is a believable character, blah, emotions every human posseses, blah...' You know going for the more sophisticated approach of interpreting her actions.

But nah, burn her! What a...! I understand the anti-Rahel notion of everybody else now. There was nothing to it, she was not the member of an organisation, controlled, had a secret plan, motive, or sth. It was all 'F*** Bam because he has it all'.

I loved this anime. Sure, it gave off vibes of just being the buildup to the REAL story right from the beginning. But it was entertaining for the most part and got me so curious that I cannot wait for a season 2.

I am giving this a 7/10. The directing was very bad at times and I had to force myself to continue to watch this, especially up to episode 6. But when things got established and some groundwork got done, this show really accelerated and won me over. Bam was a weak, but likeable MC and the rest of the cast left a positive impression. The way information was dropped was however odd and even the bits we got were too ambigious to achieve some solid world building. Yes, it got you invested enough but they could have achieved much more if there had been more solid facts regarding this world. The unusual art style was quite refreshing and some backgrounds were stunningly beautiful. Sadly, music was used only in big moments to achieve some effect. Calmer moments went by mostly in silence.

But what will miss hearing the OP and ED every week. K-Pop was never my kinda thing but these tracks were lit.

Yeah haha, i admit i was a big dummy there, but it doesn't really spoil something big like Rachel's betrayal.
When i first read the webtoon, people on the top comment were always says bad things to Rachel like calling her bitch, liar, and traitor. In the end i got spoiled about what Rachel do to Bam, and then when i read the actual chapter i didn't feel anything. And i just don't want anime only people experience the same thing as i do.

Mostly because they left out important references

Yeah it feels like there are somethings missing, but it doesn't matter to me ig, i quite enjoy this anime.

Not "some things". The world building is almost entirely gone, and some characters are inconsistent. Look at Anaak, one of the coldest characters, crying when Baam died. It is way out of character. The same goes for Baam wanting to kill Hwaryun. Also, the most intelligent parts of the hide and seek were completely butchered. It is an okayish anime, but a bad adaptation. It's true they were short on episodes, but they included a lot of unimportant scenes while omitting extremely important ones. It's sad that anime watchers still don't know anything about shinsu except it's name, for example.

WOW. I'm so disappointed in this final episode. It's cool learning the background of Rachel's motives and all but it's so weak and pathetic. On top of, Bam barely has any character development and still has a weak motive for climbing the tower in the end. It's whatever.

As a standalone anime, it was enjoyable but as an adaptation and knowing what will happen in season two, this first season of TOG was disappointing.

The part that irritates me the the most was how the director handled Endorsi...I had a feeling it wasn't going to turn out well when Bam delivered food to Endorsi together with Hatsu but I still hoped the other scenes would be kept but in the end we just have some typical nakama trope.

Seems to me like the director working on this only read through season 1 and decided to cut and add new parts based on that without knowing the consequences these random changes will have if there are future seasons.

I laughed when Anak was crying for Bam, such a stupid addition. Maybe Bam x Anak will be a thing.

The first episode was so good that it made me read the entire webtoon within 2 weeks. But After I finished the webtoon,I just couldn't enjoy the anime anymore. They changed little things here and there which weren't as funny or impactful as they were in the webtoon and took away the momentum the first episode created.

I really believe this would've been way better if it followed the source material page by page and panel by panel like Fruit Basket 2019.

I wonder how the staff would direct it and i wonder what music would Kevin Penkin use for that very feels scene!

because on the Manhwa, when i read it twice, i still cried! that was the most unforgettable highlights on this ToG series!

I would recommend to start from ch 1 . Believe me you won't be disappointed. If you start reading from s2 then You will keep getting confused on various occasion due to info cut in anime and how tower works.there were also few changes which contradict story.

add from the anime. They tried to make all the character more friendly toward eachother. because nearly all the group dynamic scene were cut or reduced to the strict minimum.

Well, we're witnessing Rachel's POV for the finale.
Yeah, she isn't a good person, but since the begining I found her truly interesting, so I liked the focus we had this episode, her motives and behavior throughout the series now make much more sense. She managed to enter the tower, but the one who opened it was Bam, after his test, Headon gives her the option to kill Bam if she wanna climb the tower, and she accepts; that was a good plot twist, like at the end it was her, and only her decision, but her actions still were motivated by others who pushed her to do some of things she did, and the fact that what moves her forward in this assassination plot are two emotions, envy and ambition, is an interesting one, like she feels bad for some of the things she do, but she still does it, she's not a cold-hearted monster, but she'll do whatever she needs to continue anyway, a cruel but captivating selfishness we witness from her. As of now, with those moments we saw in earlier episodes, and the deeper exploration we had on her this episode, she's really the most developed character of the series so far.
I'm not gonna lie, something that bugged me in this episode were some of the other factors involved in Bam's assassination plot, more specifically, some of the characters involved, like Yu Hangsung who was always talking about how the tests must eliminate all thread for the tower hierarchy, but at the end he's aware of Bam being alive and... okay with that? The same with Hwaryun, who is shown helping Rachel to get Bam closer and finally kill him, but rescues him after the betrayal and motivates him to continue climbing, or how if Bam wouldn't have survived the bull attack, it would have been Ren who killed him; all that is confusing, but I guess we'll get to see the whole picture later in the story, I hope we will, because it's implied that there's much more underground than what we see at first sight, but it's still confusing.
This was a very Rachel-centric episode, so the others didn't have much spotlight this time, though Khun at the end with that mean attitude toward Rachel was impressive, it's surely due to his distrustful nature, but it was satisfying anyway; there were also some good moments like Lero Ro confronting Hangsung (like for 4th time), Androssi telling Paracule off with her glance, and Rak proposing to help Rachel climb the tower in order to honor Bam.

In the technical side, though it's pretty clear why, it felt strange how this episode was kind of a recap, despite doing a great job in showing us Rachel's side of the story, that fact was a bit distracting; props to Saori Hayami, and yes, this isn't even near to her greatest works, but she delivered really well her role this episode, the range of emotions Rachel showed this episode were excellently conveyed by her, everyone does a goofd job here (hearing to Kenjirou Tsuda is an eargasm lol) but this was definitely her time to shine. Also, Kevin papu Penkin nailed it this episode, it doesn't have that bombastic sound, but the tracks presented had a great eerie feel to it, specially the strings and syntetizer, very accurate to the content of this episode, and yet we got that beautiful guitar melody and the glorious main theme at the end; his work was definitely the best part of the series, a bit more experimental than some of his other works, but really outstanding. I hope it won't take too long for the album release. (I'm literally counting the days for it well, actually not, xD)

And well, it's over. It was a fast ride, definitely felt rushed at some points, but it delivered well, a lot of its weight fell in the mystery elements, so it was expected to have unanswered questions at the end, though they may be a bit too much, not that it bothers me but I get why that could bother some people. Story-wise, despite the fast pacing, it was a good journey, the plot twists were good and the buildup was enough for them to make sense; in the other hand, the characters are pretty interesting and they have a fair amount of development, but they aren't too fleshed out, most lack dept because of how little they were explored, here's where the series would have seen a benefit of a slower pacing, with time to breath we could get to know them better, and make a stronger connection with them, a shame we lost that oportunity; what we got is good, but could have been better. It began pretty strong, the crown game proved to be a really good arc, but it lost some momentum within its run, it recovered some of it with last week's episode, which stands as the best one (IMO), but it's visible that it didn't reach it's full potential.
We've all heard about how this was a problematic adaptation, but it could stand in it's own pretty well, at least for me; I hope this doesn't finish being a expensive publicity and some day we get to see a S2. Guess now it's time to read the manhwa.
9/10 for this episode.
8/10 for the series.

Edit: At the end, that last shot, OMG, we got it, we got to see

I binged this series in one night and thought, while imperfect, this was a praiseworthy and good start to what I think/hope will be a lengthy run of a franchise/series.

I say that because I appreciate that the team seems to be largely looking at the long-term play. Ignoring the source material which I haven't looked at, I thought it did good enough of a job with exposition. Yes, it was a bit rushed and some things were not explained well or at all, but I think it managed to maintain a good balance between pushing the plot forward while not losing the audience too much. I don't have much on Rak, but I thought Khun and Yoru's relationship developed nicely, and same with the core cast, even if some friendships are less plausible/natural than others. I thought the world-building was a little lacking and foggy, but at least by the end I felt like things were cleared up enough to lend some concrete form to Yoru's goal.

And what an ending that was. I admit I was a little skeptical of Lahel (I feel like any character voiced by Hayami Saori by this point deserves some scrutiny on whether they have any hidden crazy--it's becoming too much of a pattern), but by the conclusion of the exam where Yuri's bodyguard destroyed No. 67 I thought it would proceed to a good ending for now. Then the push. Then the walkthrough of the entire season through her perspective. It was a masterful touch, in my opinion.

All this sets up for a second season I would love, love to see. The series has already done a pretty decent coming-of-age setup for Yoru, but his growth should be hyper-accelerated at this point. Now that his crew has become Lahel's, I wonder how he'll plot his climb and how much he'll grow from here. Ah man I'm going to die of anticipation.

While this is actually a good episode, we see the perspective of Rachel (probably the best episode) but this series is kinda meh overall, i seriously see no appeal... both world building and characters with standard animation even looks awkward in fight scenes. This looks like they'll continue for next part but with this quality & pace idk if it's worth to follow the next one.

I haven’t read the webtoon but I think that Rachel actual test is maybe to try and learn how to actually become a star by watching Bam shine right in front of her and how to be pure rather than just being jealous of others,or to simply accept The fact that she’s not qualified to to climb the tower so rather than killing bam she should’ve chosen to climb the tower with him.

Rachel best girl. Also why are the guys that got eaten by the Bull still alive? 4/10 as a final rating because of how inconsistent it was and how Bam got everything by doing nothing and not making any effort. That's why Rachel was correct in her judgement, I would also want to kill that piece of white toast. Rachel alone made me rate it 4/10 instead of 2/10.

Got major Ghost in the Shell: SAC vibes from the music this episode, I look forward to hearing more music from Kevin Penkin and for season 2 of this show (I might pick up the webtoon too). I wasn't crazy about the way they did Rachel's thoughts since it felt a little like a recap, but it made sense why they did so I can't complain too much. It was a good start to what is shaping up to be a a great story with intriguing characters that have a lot of room for development and growth, 8/10

Anime? ..strangely it all felt more like a cartoon show to me.

Watching this it felt like there where at least 1 season i've yet to watch and started blank on season two, thus not really understanding much of what was going on, overall just much confused to be had and thinking 'what is this bs?' over and over again, + not caring for the characters at all made it for a boring watch in my book. 4/10
