Looking at it just from anime watcher perspective, it was a needed episode to explain what was happening, so 4/5 despite half of it being flashbacks. From a manhwa reader perspective, I'm not sure how I feel about making Rachel less of a bitch. Also, making her "not feel any shinsu" etc. is going too far. They should not make her seem retarded to make sense she envies Baam, just pointing how talented he is compared to to everyone should be enough. Also, not saying that everyone passed because Baam asked for that in the case of his death was extremely disappointing. Generally, throughout the season, Baam was just a source of cliche lines, it really isn't the case in the manhwa. So I guess I'm fine with the way they wrapped up, but it's a baf adaptation that doesn't get remotely close to the original. Also, Khun's reaction to Baam's death and his general behavior at the end were the biggest disappointment of the ep for me.

30k members already finished to watch and even so the score is still 8.00?

Not bad.

The second season will be okay, but the material for a third or forth season will be a total disgrace.

Surprisely the current arc is becoming really enjoyable, but the previous ones are so, but sooo bad that crunchyroll will give up.

Nice Rachel, nice! This shit really great to give a fuck on my mind, so hard like crazy. So thats why that big creature called Hell Guardian not appeared again after team test. Otherwise, its not satisfying me enough. Its even make this episode ,sounds like an intro to another session if i may guess. Was i happy? Not much. Because, ofc shit must come like that and its understandable in my some other brain-storming session. I mean, nice Rachel, you finally showed up your true intentions. Thats my girls. But, damn, its really, dark. To be honest, Yoru reserved shit. But, heck, even ToG need em so badly that he can't die yet. To hell when Yoru had a chance to live long after, because he was a fuckin MC. To the glory, Rachel, to the glory! So, thats it, then!

Since this show never missed its chance to eating my mind with nonsense, and tryhard saving the punchline in the end. But, it only digged up something useless, i give this show a one or two salutes. The scores never grow up on me. This is surely an average shounen show with same tactics over and over again afterall. A bit ashamed, but i find it as an understandable reason. With that i think Its enough. My judgement finally grow one more point after hard brain-storming session to put up some sections. A fine show with satisfying ended with Rachel began the real MC? I absolutely aggree with that rather than lamed Yoru characterization. Great. From the average to fine. Thats good actually, rather come up as a bad show. If only the show had a chance to improved the journey of Yoru in nice pacing more than this, i might be changed some opinion here and before. Thats it all. To hell with the others blabbing. I had my other resolution about this lame show. So thats it then!

There is no way that this ended like that! C'mon!!! At least confirm a 2s, it can't end like this.
I'm shocked, almost the whole episode was Rachel's perspective and her thoughts in certain moments, where it's more than obvious that her dream doesn't include Bam...

Damn, it still pisses me off that she did that, she will never reach the tower alone, and she had the perfect opportunity but she has to be the start...even though she's powerless, she couldn't even enter the 1st test... And now they want to carry her lmao She's the biggest b** of this anime.

After Bam's death, it's obvious that Khun doubts her, for obvious reasons, she wanted this whole time to kill Bam, she's crazy.

The test administrator did all of this on purpose so that Bam could climb the tower on his own and become stronger because he knew that if he stayed with them he would never reach his true power and that ending 100% tells that!

Still can't believe that was Bam, he looks so OP! I can't wait to see that moment when this new OP and ALIVE Bam will meet them... can't wait to see Rachel's face...
The whole of Rachel's dialogue was really well done, especially that ending scene...they will die and meet again. And that ED at the end!

I just can't really wait for the next season!

Please webtoon 2 seasooooooooon plssssss!
9/10 and i can't even imagine how good must be the 2nd season! If the first was already like this.

EDIT: So that guy at the end isn't Bam, tought it was a time skip xD

Get yourself a friend like Rak. He was in the most pain at the news :(

Kk so with the prologue out of the way, still interested to uncover exactly what the tower is about. Without that aspect it's kind of a generic shounen, but there could be some really sick stuff going on regarding exactly what the tower is and what's going on with all these tests.

There is plenty of sick stuff going on. The WEBTOON is completely free and I suggest to start reading it now because it is still ongoing and very lengthy. I started reading it when the first episode of this anime came out because it interested me so much. And here I am at chapter 159 and I’m only a quarter of the way into the story and so much has happened.

If they plan on adapting the entire story (and even if they go at this break neck pace like they did with the first season) there are HUNDREDS of episodes to be created.

I think I'm going to have to! Definitely don't want to wait around forever to find out what's going on. The webtoon itself is still ongoing too though right? Hopefully there's an end in sight.

“I wish I met Bam before you” damn, my boy Khun’s gotta be torn up on the inside. Poor thing.

Rare to see Lero Ro so upset as well considering his calm nature.

Great conclusion and set up for season 2. Man I’m gonna miss this on Wednesdays. So far, my anime of the year.
Very well said, definitely the series was rushed but we can understand the reason behind it. Overall it was good and I, for one, enjoyed it.

I would guess at least a year til a season two comes out so reading it may be your best option right now. I haven’t looked anything up because I didn’t want to be spoiled; but from what I heard there is not an end in sight. Chapter 484 was just released on June 21st in English. For perspective season 1 was chapter 1-79 but they skipped a lot of details and dialogue.

After 13 episodes, Tower of God comes to an end. We finally get context for Rachel's actions throughout the series and, surprisingly, the show doesn't build up any sympathy for her or her betrayal against Bam. You'd think this episode would attempt to get viewers to understand why she did what she did, I mean, even if we don't agree with her actions, we can at least sympathize with her motivations, right? Nope. In the end, Rachel's first and foremost concern was always herself, and she didn't care that she had to betray the one man who loved her if that meant attaining glory all for herself.

Unfortunately for Rachel, her victory might prove to be brief. Khun will be keeping a close eye on her from now on, Lero Ro plans to investigate the corruption in the Tower's leadership and Bam himself miraculously survived and has renewed his determination to climb the tower. Rachel's obsession with climbing the tower has only made things worse for her in the long run and it's only till the very end that she has come to realize that.

I will miss Tower of God. This show was fantastic and we rarely get shows of this caliber nowadays. I'm not sure if we'll get a second season, but I sure hope so. There are plenty of plotlines to ensure a second season and the show's positive reception is something that should be considered. This was the MVP of the season and, hopefully, we'll get more shows like this in the future.

WHY WAS IT ONLY 13 EPISODES?????I can't wait for season 2,It's probably not even made as I write this(the night the episode aired). I for sure have to pick up the source material. Being one who has never dabbled in the world of Manhwa, I am just so happy to be introduced to it this way I was missing out on alot. Tower of God is hands down the best anime airing this season(and I'm watching almost all of them). I've enjoyed the entire season but wow. My Jaw is on the floor...

Same bro, same. We have same rants since they confirmed season 1 would only have 13 eps. Better try reading it on webtoons. You'll be surprised how much they changed and how big content they skipped.

And so, I'll say it again, SEASON 1 IS JUST A PROLOGUE and prologue ended on ep 13. Real deal will begin on Season 2. The knd of mc y'all wanted from the very beginning is finally here.

Hope you enjoy your reading.

No confirmation yet as of this moment. But yeah, there'll be a HUGE change in season 2 and that's where the hype originally come from. Readers are so excited for the new characters in S2 because 90% of it will be fighting/actions scenes. Less world building and dialogue compare to season 1.

Am I the only one who doesn't hate Rachel.
Rachel betrayal was according to me, done pretty well in this adaptation, and me somehow sympathize with her. I don't know about others but if someone told me that I couldn't do it or if I was not capable enough that would piss me off and the same was done with Rachel. Although her betrayal was sort of a bad decision the motives behind the same were sort of justified.
How would you feel if your subordinates were promoted or if you were sidelined with the fact that you weren't capable enough, surely most of you will be pissed. the same happened with Rachel, as she felt the same. "why I wasn't the one?" , "why was bam 'the chosen one'?" "what does Bam have, that I don't have?". This emotion is pretty common with us in our lives, every one of us would have felt this at some point in their life and the same happened with Rachel.
I do not support her and her actions but I do feel sympathetic towards her.

So far it just borderline interesting, nothing much nothing more. can feel how lacking the adaption is and sooo mediocre the characters are. Sorry Rachel, your motivation kind of underwhelming for an antagonist. Can't wait to see how you gt screwed later on. 6/10 the scores. Got it's up and down and tbh i felt like i'll enjoyed this more if the fandom doesn't hype this shit up like it's the second coming of Masterpiece or what.

Okay, so Rachel is basically a bitch who used Bam throughout the whole series but seriously, I don't really understand all the hate towards her... because I'm now quite invested in her character as well as her mindset and it all only took 15 minutes of time. Now this is how you use time to deliver decent characterization and not whatever they have been doing with Bam's passive persona.
And by the way, the kid kinda deserved to be used, being honest. Because you can't be this naive in a this "kill or be killed" kind of world but whatever.

Kinda decent finale overall. Half of it being dedicated to Rachel's character introspection and though it was a weird moment to start exploring the background of a character, I highly appreciate all the insight she received. Her being jealous of Bam for being your typical all mighty shounen MC isn't that original but considering how little I care for the kid, I kinda empathize with her goals now. I mean, the plot and story progression have been extremely boring so far, so seeing a main character showing this new questionable behaviour sure is a breath of fresh air.

All in all, Tower of God ended up being a rather disappointing experience to me. It's a pretty standard "battle/adventure" shounen anime but unlike other shows with simple premises yet admirable execution, this series failed completely at improving its generic elements and the studio sure failed as well at exploiting said elements.
The development of the story is rather predictable, cast is mostly uninteresting, art and animation were mediocre and the addition of comedy during serious moments was a total mistake in my opinion. In that regard, there was also no sense of real tension and whenever the situation got intense, the studio failed, once again, at handling the atmosphere.

Now regarding cast, Khun had some redeemable aspects but the rest was quite forgettable. Bam was simply pathetic as MC, Rak being used as comic relief after his imposing introduction was a waste of potential and all the supporting cast wasn't any special either since they were too stereotypical (and one-dimensional in some cases) for me to care.
At this point, I'm starting to wonder why I'm giving this show a 4/10 if the only aspect I truly enjoyed was Kevin Penkin's OST, which was in my opinion, the only strong point in this sea of average-ness but well, I guess that in the end, a 3/10 would be kinda unfair considering I never felt truly annoyed nor frustrated while watching as with other battle shounen. Not that this change in score would make a huge difference tho.

4/10 - I personally don't care if this gets a sequel or not but if it does, I only hope to see more of Rachel being a bitch because now, she seems to be the only person who can give this story some sense of entertainment.

Well, the final episode was better than I expected since we get some Rachel's perspective. Though I don't care much about any of the characters, I can see why people hate her but she is the only thing making this interesting now. Otherwise, Khun was the only enjoyable character. Bam was just too bland and Rak was just used for annoying comic-relief. Most of the episodes had pacing issues and bad directing. The comedic segments were mostly terrible, there was no worldbuilding or development, art and animation was mediocre and the whole nakama bit seemed like a bunch of bs. While the story itself isn't that intriguing, I think it the suffers the most in having an indecent execution. Still, it managed to hold my interest enough to see it every week. I will be interested in seeing a second season if ever there is one and hope that the story and characters will get better development.

It was a good watch. Though manhwa is more detailed (I've only read up to chap 7 so far), I enjoy this first season. This last ep makes me want to know what would happen next. My heart is beating so fast lol I think a lot of exciting things are going to happen so I'm continuing this in manhwa.
Before, I was worried I'll waste time watching this. But nah. I'm glad some negative comments did not stop me.

And Rachel, you jealous btch.

And IT WAS BAM, THE ONE AT THE END RIGHT??? WOOOOAH LONG HAIR!!! Someone told me about the Chad Bam. I'm so excited!!!

Well.
I have mixed feelings about this.
Went webtoon after ep12 since everything was spoiled at that point anyway.
What can I say?
Original has a lot of problems. All coming from "I have good idea but have no skills". Drawing, world building, pacing — all bad. Test rules are mostly nonsense.
But story and concept just make it all non-important. And things kinda improve later on but anyway.

Thus adaptation suffers from two things: original problems and efforts to fix those. Some of fixes are fine. Others just piss off manhwa fans.
E.g. this episode Rachel can be understood. Can be forgiven. She kinda cares. She is rational. She is easier to accept and believe.
But manhwa Rachel is really small person. Jelly and cold and narrow-minded.
And that gap between Rachel in Bam's eyes and real one gives more realism and depth than convenient rationalization. Kinda.

But I would not really fight over such differences. Anime is more smooth and fluffy, manhwa is darkish and raw, both are not perfect.

I agree that anime could be better, but that would require really experienced/expensive studio and staff. Like really.

If i were to judge the last episode as an anime-only it would be 8/10 but as a webtoon reader it was 6,5/10 - mostly because of how "creative" the director went with the source material.

The biggest problem with the whole anime is that it's condensed to 13 episodes and by doing so some part had to be cut. Sure, i'd have no problem with this if they decided to cut things that are not that important or speeding things up but the problem is they not only cut a lot of important stuff but also added quite a few things that didn't bring anything to the table and in some situations they straight up contradicted characters personalities or how they should act. By doing so season 1 introduced quite a few plotholes to the story, so if they adapt season 2-3 they would need to either rewrite some things or just get rid of some characters/interactions entirely.

When it comes to characters the biggest hit from the adaptation suffered Bam and Androssi. Basically every interaction they had in season 1 was axed. Also, Androssi proclaiming she'd gladly be a traitor, big LOL. Bam was relegated to basically a doll during this season (he isn't the most enjoyable MC during season 1 in the manhwa either but at least he was better developed there). Anak crying after Bam was maybe the biggest "WTF?" moment for me in this episode, just like her outburst about being friends in the last one. She is a character that rarely shows emotions and doesn't care much for anyone else, especially in season 1. The whole "freindship rant" was such a japanese anime cliche that it made me sick. Also, Rachel. Sure, she was manipulated by Headon and Hansung Yu but it's not like she was on the fence when it comes to betraying/hurting Bam. She just can't be because of what we learn in season 2. It would've been more clear if they didn't shorten her dialogue with Headon. The only characters who received some love from the studio were Shibisu and Serena.

When it comes to world-building the anime showed like 30% of what was introduced in season 1 of the webtoon. While some of it isn't that important especially for now and could be added in the later seasons, most of what they omitted was and they even introduced a few glaring plot holes. I'm not talking about changing Black March to be a sword instead of a needle for no apparent reason, that's minor. I'm talking about omitting whole fighting system using shinsu. Because of this we had most of the fights changed a lot (final scene in the crown game, Androssi+Bam vs Quant, Bam vs Bull, Yuri+Kurudan vs Ren). From the world-building perspective the last fight mentioned was especially dumb. The whole point of the fight was to kill Ren without looking like Yuri sides with Anaak, so that she can avoid being labeled as a traitor (especially since Ren survives). Kurudan was supposed to kill him from afar. The way they did it in the anime, Yuri might've just as well killed him.

Not to whine any more and to sum it up, they severly dumbed down the whole story and character development, introduced plotholes to the story that will come back to bite them in the future, cut the world-building in half and make character say stupid 1d shonen cliches instead of actual dialogue (i'm sad that from 78 chapters they only included 2 pretty good lines when there were tones of them).

The whole as a adaptation was 6/10 for me at most.

If you do not care then 79.

Thanks for the help :")

I would recommend to start from ch 1 . As many details are cut and changed so you will feel confusion at some points in s2.

I screamed so hard when I see Jue Viole Grace!!! And BTW please webtoon reader, don't spoil this anime too much, I heard that people complaints about the fucking spoiler that webtoon reader always bragging out.

You literally spoiled in your first sentence dude. Idiot...

Yeah haha, i admit i was a big dummy there, but it doesn't really spoil something big like Rachel's betrayal.
When i first read the webtoon, people on the top comment were always says bad things to Rachel like calling her bitch, liar, and traitor. In the end i got spoiled about what Rachel do to Bam, and then when i read the actual chapter i didn't feel anything. And i just don't want anime only people experience the same thing as i do.

Why webtoon readers so salty about the changes?

Mostly because they left out important references

Yeah it feels like there are somethings missing, but it doesn't matter to me ig, i quite enjoy this anime.

5/10 Overall I think this show has potential but this adaptation didn't deliver well for non manhwa readers like me it was mediocre at best, most of the time I didn't even care for characters in the show which are really important aspect of anime and I think they didn't direct this show good alot of times episode ends in weird point. I am gonna read the manhwa now and I think I will like it more because this show has good premise but it just didn't execute it well

Also from the very beginning people were bitching about Rachel and I was like maybe she has done something really bad and guess what after watching this episode I was like where is the bad character?? I don't see anything which makes me hate her tbh in fact I understand her character more this ep

This anime seems to have a lot of potential, but the story telling was poorly executed imo. I don't even understand the world that they live in. IDK. The last couple of episodes have given me enough hope to watch the 2nd season, but this season gets a solid 6/10 for me.

one thing this anime glossed over at the end was when hansung was saying goodbye he gave them rings in the webtoon these are important for later on and i would assume you guys all know the name of the red haired girl since it was in the cast list shes a navigator evan is as well they can see into the future evan sees paths in front of him while shes sees a lot more as well as irregulars are summonded when the tower feels like it needs change also \navigators can not see the set future for an irrgular as there choices are not fated like other btw racheal got in only because the tower made a mistake because she was under bam this is why she pathetically weak and the guy that helps her all we know is that he was assigned to her and thats all nothing else

Man, can you try using punctuation? Geez.

Ok, I will think about it. I just don't have enough time to reread the whole thing which is why I asked. Thx for letting me know anyways.

They should skip some of the arcs when they do parts of season 2 of the webtoon, it drags way too much and it doesnt have staying power of an anime like one piece to warrant viewers to watch that

Season 3 of the manhwa if adapted would be bonkers

That plot armor really thicc on Bam.

I think overall its decent nothing spectacular about it especially the MC and the antagonist/s,their motivation were so weak compared to other shounen anime. Also a LOT of need for improvement like the narrative, pacing and execution of the story etc.

Still gonna give this a
8/10

Wow! This series got really spicy at the final episode after Rachel's betrayal. This, definitely, needs a second season because it does feel like things about to start.

Seems many of them are doubting Rachel!

Season 2! Season 2! Season 2! Season 2! Season 2! Season 2!

I wonder how long we will have to wait for a second season, Im personally going to read the webtoon and hope it doesnt get too obnoxious.

There is something about this story which simply makes me wary of committing to really liking it, I just highly doubt it will be a good story if it doesnt improve along the way.
The mysterious tension is okay in the beginning, but they will have to answer some questions along the way or it will be just hollow teasing. And doing so would become boring as well.
It also seems like the biggest drive for the MCs character motivation was already revealed this early on which makes me wonder if they can stay interesting enough till the end.
Its close to being really good, but since this story isnt done after 13 episodes it will likely end up beeing dragged on and watered down.

So I will rate it a 7.

I think the 15 mins of Rachel's inner monologue justifying why shes a bitch was unnecessary, we got that last week when she threw Bam out the sphere thing. Latter half of eps back on track at least. Better be more seasons else I'm gonna go full Rachel and start destroying things!

...women, amirite?

If it ends with this and never gets another season it would be an incredible dick move. I mean, we can always read the comic, but... you know.

lol why the hell was anaak crying?
she literally was ready to kill bam if he didnt hand over the black march to her

and not really much happened between them after that that justifies her grieving for his death like this

this show is soo bad with character portrayal its almost funny

So in the first place, Bam was really the chosen one or something???
And now that bitch Rachel seeing him laugh makes me disgust him more.
Can't wait for 2nd season!
