It was very predictable. I didn't cry at all. The ending was f___ing cliché.

But it was interesting, very well made, very original for an anime. I really I can't stop thinking this is a smarter version of "2012", though.

I also loved Yuuki's death, it's a perfect example of posttraumatic stress. Predictable and unnecessary, but realistic.

I loved the disaster theme and how the anime focuses on a certain character, Mirai, and

how the character develops and changes throughout the series. Although I wished that

Mirai would have died instead of Yuuki, but post-traumatic stress wouldn't have been as

great as it was for Mirai, since she was at the age where one changes a lot. It was a

great 11 episode series!

Wow, i just cried this last episode away! I must say throughout the series i didnt really like yuuki or anything, he was okay, all the characters i didnt specifically like em, they were were all just fine and nice and okay, but that end was very very sad. kept me in tears like a baby! overall 8,5 so still have to decide if its going up or down.

Normally I get really sad by these kinds of things, but it didn't really do it for me this time. Fairly decent otherwise. Nice twist on things, however animation and character detail was lacking for the most part.

8/10 for me. Probably closer to a 8.5, but it got a bit too boring in the middle for me to give it a 9...

Last episode really upped the score, ending was really touching; but just for me, the second half of the series got really repetitive and just lost the flare and excitement of the first few episodes.

That made me absolutely bawl. I have absolutely no idea what I'm going to do when I lose the first person that's very important to me, and I'm absolutely terrified of it. Life is so very unfair.
I have to say, though, I was very weirded out how the parents seemed to totally accept that her brother's spirit was there with Mirai or whatever. I definitely prefer to think of Yuuki as a hallucination rather than an actual supernatural occurrence.

This is officially the first anime that made me cry for an entire episode. The characterization and writing was top notch, especially in this grand finale. I never thought it got too slow. A solid 10/10 for me.

a well drafted story. made me cry. Very timely considering the events in Port Au Prince, Haiti. Many are suffering this very same tragedy and thinking about that made me cry even more. The fact this can really happen made it even more powerful. Yuuki's death caught me flatfooted. I didn't see it coming. I was so sure that Mari daughter was dead or Mirai's mom and dad. but Yuuki? OMG! a definite buy if it becomes licensed.

I didn't expect so much from this anime, because the topic seems to be rather tight, so I thought it will be just boring. Lunily, it wasn't.

It's awesome show, ending is really suprising, I didn't suspect even once, that Yuuki is died. It was really dramatic, and really unique one.

To start with, I didn't cry when i was watching the last episode. I found nothing soo special about this anime, but it has some fine points too.

If everybody were to be alive at the end, it would not fit. It never fits. There is no "...and they lived happily after..." endings in animes you know. Mirai had a 180, so its natural to keep her alive. Therefore Yuuki was an annoying brat and yeah, i wont cry for him. This is the best possible ending I guess.

Character designs are like animated out of a scrapbook, but at some points it was beautiful.

OK. Enough complaining. On the other hand, its really unlikely to have a scenario like this, original from all ends. I never watched a disaster arc like this. I give credit for it. Maybe I can advice my psychology teacher this anime to show at school for severe halucinations or whatever you call it.

6\10. Worthed my time.

I bawled, hard. My face hurts from scrunching up and crying like that. ;__;

Maybe it hits home because I have a little brother that would've been around the same age had I been Mirai's age. He annoys me sometimes, but like Yuuki, he really is just trying his best to get along with everyone.

this anime is really great!! it shows how ppl will react during times of crisis just like selfish ppl caring only for themselves. this anime also shows quite alot of reality things that happens in the real world like how ppl react when their love ones died. the last 15min really made me cry alot as yuuki use his death to bring his family closer. its really sad n touching episode!!! BONES did a great job, so does the seiyuus. 9/10 becuz its not as great as clannad after all...

Oh god, that scene where they were all bawling, I almost lost it. Shivers running up my spine. I've still got my emotionless bastard credentials though, even this didn't make me cry :) The corners of my eyes are a bit moist though, I was 99% ready to cry.

And that last line, lol, it's like "I've got to keep going" Yeah that's the spirit girl! "...because Yuuki is watching me" fffuuuuuu!!!!

I mean, really, can't they let her be even stronger and stand on her own, an inspirational ending, without falling back on religious crutches? I'll forgive those last 5 words though, it was a great episode and a great series.

I have never cried this hard over any form of entertainment in my life. My face was sopping wet and I was barely able to breathe through the sobs. Really anyone that had seen me would have thought that someone in my family had just died not a freaking anime character! lol. Really I have NEVER cried like that before.

I thought this series was amazing, but because of the ending I don't think I could ever bear to watch it again. It's just too sad. :'(

I finished this anime well over a few months ago. It is one of the few that I really wish I could put my rating to "11". I have never felt such an emotional connection to any anime before. It brought back feelings of being in desperate situations, sadness, joy, everything. I, too (even though I may try to hide it), was fighting back tears/emotions throughout this series. The ending/opening songs were great and the animation top-notch. I can't wait to re-visit this at a later time.

What a beautiful anime.

I don't know if I would watch it again but the experience of watching it the first time is well-worth the lack of rewatch value (I hardly rewatch shows anyway). I've never been so emotionally involved in an anime. I teared during almost every episode, and if I wasn't tearing it means I was crying.

It's odd because nothing about Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 jumps out at you, but even then I felt so attached to the characters that I couldn't help but feel as if they were real people struggling. I only found that Yuki was dead when I saw him wear the backpack in episode 10 (even though Mira had it). Everything seems so real. Even during the more uneventful episodes I was still sad, because I related to the characters so easily.

One of my favorite anime series of all time, no question.

How better to open up a thread reviewing a series finale than with some flame bait? Tasty.

if evangelion taught me anything, it's that emo never dies.

4/10 for first five five episodes or so (can't recall when mirai magically turned nice)

6/10 for rest (mirai's realization was too long)

overall 5.5/10
That's right, mourning the death of a family member is definitely being emo. By the way, 4 and 6 (divided by 20) makes 5, not 5.5; lern2math.

That aside, I enjoyed it; while the pacing slowed down in the middle, it finished strong. 9/10 from me.

Poor Yuuki I feel sorry for him for ending up having such a sister, because she was acting like a freaking brat that the boy to cheer her up went to Odaiba with her making them being at the wrong in the wrong time. The poor boy dying is totally her fault.

The very first series that actually made me cry. There were some visual novels with as strong emotional impact as this anime (Clannad AS, Narcissu or True Remembrance)... but really - I'm surprised. To me it feels like this series is of those few which have been fairly underrated - it easily gets my 9/10, and the achievement "made me cry".
God, we need more shows like this, not those stupid moe blobs and romcoms.

this anime is underrated because it is a realistic representation of what can happen in a distaster scenario.

All that aside, I did see the ending coming and I still was upset by it. Good anime and it got a 9/10 from me.

Although the series was only really awesome in the first 4 episodes, I liked the fact that there was some tragedy in it (Yuuki's death). Could've been more tragic though, which would be more realistic. At one point, I actually thought about Mirai's family dying and then Mirai had to be adopted by Mari.

Good ending...and a great series overall....It didn't made me cry...but the part where Mirai's mom found her in her wrecked home. is a little bit emotional....but not close to making me cry....It's a perfect ending for the whole series...
although It was a little bit predictable but at least Mirai's family and Mari ended up being happy despite Yuuki's death
8/10 for me....this anime deserves a higher rating

This was an amazing show, I finished it in one day and cried nearly constantly after episode 7... It was kind of obvious (to me) that he was dead after the doctor had no words, Mari collapsed, they showed a covered body and a death certificate... but... I love how they did it. After nearly losing your brother like 5 times in such a disaster.. only to have him die in the middle, finally, no one could wrap their minds around that, especially at that age and with all the other death and tragedies you saw... I miss Yuuki, though.
