| I'd say give it a try and see for yourself how you like it. What lured me to SAO is the gaming concept and users getting stuck there. Everything else - plot, characters, romance, animation etc then only kept me there and made me like it ;) Haven't read the novels (thou I really want to) so any discrepancies from original didn't bother me since I wasn't aware of them |

| Go for it. It won't hurt to try it. People give SAO a hard time because it's pretty cliche with plot holes thrown around. If you don't mind that than you'll probably enjoy it. SAO also tends to be a good introductory anime for people starting out. Also like others have stated with what you have watched so far you'll probably like it. |

I've seen over 1500 anime and I don't even need two hands to count the amount of shounen i rate ahead of SAO. Introductory anime my ass. It's one of the best examples of a battle shounen I've ever seen - and ever will see. |
