Score Explanation:
1: A reminder that I am slowly dying, that every cell in my body is burning, and that chances are there's nothing past this life, an utterly miserable experience that I can't even begin to understand why someone would enjoy.
Best Example: Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny
2: Irredeemably poorly made on all fronts, not even funny in it's sheer incompetence, yet I claw at any mild thing the possibly enjoy, failing at nearly every point.
Best Example: Mobile Suit Gundam Seed
3: Something I can't stand, but can see the light of what could've been and of what one might see.
Best Example: Sword Art Online
4: A piece where the aesthetic, story, or emotional content manged to grasp at something within me, only to not follow through, and leave me with nothing but mild disdain.
Best Example: Cannon Busters
5: Something in which there was just nothing that managed to captivate me to keep it in my mental space beyond it's runtime, but inoffensive, truly nothing to remember.
Best Example: Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack
6: Just dumb fun done well, nothing to particularly think about, nothing particularly emotionally resonant, nor any particularly amazing technical aspects but actively enjoyable for it's runtime or it fits perfectly within my aesthetic alley.
Best Examples: Gun X Sword/Black Lagoon
7: Something that I find interesting in one way or another whether it be it's technical aspects, it's themes, or in being emotionally resonant, but doesn't quite manage to fill my mind with an amazing amount of possible avenues of thought, but one that still left me ruminating on it for a while. Generally recommended.
Best Example: Space Runaway Ideon
8: At this point you've created a work that will continue to consistently occupy my mind with it's various interesting concepts or phenomenal execution, but still I see fairly obvious shortcomings in certain aspects. Generally recommended.
Best Examples: High Score Girl/Overman King Gainer
9: You've hit all the bases, you did it, you made a piece of art that, for as far as I care, is perfect, one that I start to compare any of it's kin to. Highly recommended.
Best Example: Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu
10: Something I can point at and say that it's deeply affected me in some way, whether it has inspired entire ideals I hold, gotten me out of a terrible state of mind, or is the origin of many of what I'd consider my favorite parts of media, this is effectively a part of my world view at all times.
Best Examples: Samurai Champloo/Daicon Opening IV/Mobile Fighter G Gundam
??: Mainly an area where the short, episodic, and hard to fully comprehend are left until I decide to cross paths with it again and form a concrete opinion on it.
Best Examples: Ani*kuri 15/Mobile Suit Gundam G40/Brain Powerd/Ponyo
When I drop a show it's typically due to me just plain old getting bored by it, I couldn't really quite get down with it for one reason or another, with very very few being ones that in some way made me actively angry, it's rarely being used as a marker of a show's quality. Also, there are times when I will go through it and rewatch a few episodes of certain shows just to be absolutely sure it wasn't just because of the mood I'd found myself in.
Best Example of a show dropped due to boredom: .Hack//Sign
Best Example of a show I just couldn't resonate with for one reason or another: Wandering Son
Best Example of a show that was dropped due to anger: Reideen (2007)
