I dont really see sisti as a tsundere like how everyone depicted her. Sure she shows some tsun but it REALLY really mild. All the harsh word she said to glenn in the first episode is just a normal behavior when someone is reprimanding someone else of their bad behavior. The manga also barely show her to be a tsundere character. So I don't really understand why some can hate her because she is a "tsundere". |

So eager to see Glenn's past, why he begun to hate magic, cause I got already spoiled about it, I got really interested. Pretty interesting explanation of some rules of magic on this series. Glenn still though hilarious on this episode while discussing. Glad to know some Rumia backstory. Lmao that fool card xD |

Well, best way of symboling his power. Tarot card, Arcana!? Nullify all power in a certain range!? Well, that's OP af... against Magician. Great, now we have 21 more enemy to show their appearance (Tarot have a total of 22 cards) except Glenn owned not just Arcana... which makes him pretty much more OP... |

Because unlike guns, magic can actually defend. With guns you can only defend yourself by attacking but with magic one's entire body can be shielded, for example. The powerful spell the blonde woman has cast could've been dodged with some teleportation or movement-enhancing magic. Or something similar to what Archer used to defend against Lancer. WOW. WHAT A WAY TO START THE EPISODE. Lots of feels and back story being thrown around this episode as well as some really dark moments towards the end there, and it turns out the teacher is not actually trash at all, he just sucks as a person to some extent but is actually a pretty awesome dude at the same time. Probably due to some tragic backstory we don't know yet that will be explained in a future episode. We already have some hints towards that. Anyway, this was pretty good. MC is shaping up to be a favorite from this season. |

Now that was a solid episode. Glenn made magic a lot more intriguing this episode. Characters had more chemistry this time around too. Hell, this entire episode made this series a lot more intriguing. That one girl being a princess that everyone think is dead was a cool twist, she sound pretty badass actually. I ship Glenn and Celica hard. Speaking of, Glenn is really entertaining; he's basically the reason I'm still here. And that ending gag was great. "That was a kick!" "That's what makes it magical." |

So Glenn can stop the others from using magic with that card but he can't use it too. That magic punch (kick) was funny but still didn't make me like the anime. And when Rapy guy said to Sistine that she's not as strong as Rumia that means Rumia was RAPED The story is still too fuzzy . if 1st ep was 2/5 this second is 4/5 !! |

So he's a CQC specialist with the invincible skill of nullifying magic abilities eh? So what happens if someone drops a few dozen boulders from the sky to squash him? I doubt magic will help save him at that point.... That aside, his lessons about thinking outside the constrictive and tradition-imposed box was fun to watch, and I bet his students were all enlightened by it. Oh, and those ex-military thugs really suck so bad. How is it possible that they even got into the military if they're so lost without magic? Are the soldiers in this world so reliant on magic for everything that they cannot even deal with physical punches and kicks? I love these magical high school setting stories, but seriously some of these things just need explaining. |

shameless copy paste here The adaptation of Akashic Records airing this season is the latest case in a very long line of garbage, also known as light novels, using rape as means to make the sleazy protagonist seem heroic. The first episode is spent on him being a pervert teacher with his own students, while the second episode redeems him by having him protecting the students from a one-dimensional rapist criminal. The reasoning behind this is presenting the protagonist as the lesser of two evils. On one hand he is flawed, on the other hand he is not as bad as the villains. It is meant to make him more likable by not being a Gary Stu, but also someone who at the end of the day protects the students and teaches them valuable life lessons. This works fine if you accept it at face value but not when you look at the way it was presented. There was absolutely no build up for the introduction of the evil rapist. He just conveniently appeared and did his best to be as evil as possible, until the teacher conveniently appears and stops him in a way that makes him a badass. So the issue is obvious when you analyze the script instead of the moral message. It was too staged. So conveniently presented that you can’t take it seriously, and even have the exact opposite reaction from the one the author anticipated. What makes things even worse is how the author pointed out this flaw when he explained the magic system in the series being based on basically fooling people into accepting the effects of magic through fancy words. What you say and what you intend to do have nothing to do with each other; you’re just tricking people into accepting whatever you want. When you subvert traditional rules of magic like that, you condition the audience to expect more unconventional events to follow. Yet the very next scene is a one-dimensional rapist that came out of nowhere, and got stopped by the teacher who also came out of nowhere and did it in a cheesy way. The author pointed out the flaws of his own writing by not following his own advises. The morals of the story are, if you are using the lesser of two evils trope, you don’t justify your flawed character by throwing in one-dimensional bad guys who are incarnations of pure evil. Also, if you so much want to have a flawed character to begin with, you don’t make him an overpowered hax who can do anything he likes with his powers, since that nullifies whatever flaws he’s supposed to have. And, needless to say, light novels are all about jesus-kuns and rapists, so they are garbage. |

Much better than the first episode, since it didn't focus on worst girl Sisti. The attempted rape scene was really terrible though. It's obviously for fanservice instead of any good story reason, and it's increadibly uncmofortable. :/ Rumia definitely best girl though, and i hope this series continues to get better and moves away from the cringe-fest that was episode 1. |

I don't think I've ever had lower expectations for a show that ended up being as entertaining as this one is right now. Thought the first episode was hilarious, then this one managed to work in some serious elements (which is always shaky for comedy stuff) without losing any steam. Suddenly I like Glenn a lot. Hilarious teasing shironeko, while he teaches magic theory as grammar, hypnosis etc. Pretty much Rumia changed him with her motive, a leader of folks to use magic for good. Sorta confirms his ep1 suspicion, as he probably saved her before. Seems related to mystery backstory as former princess banished & hunted. Sisti's motive is to reach the sky castle for grandpa's dream. Glenn has Touma the fool tarot card lol, and martial arts. |

yhunata said: It's barely an improvement, but an improvement nonetheless. Still can't see how this has such a high rating though. I think so too. I especially hate the rape scene and the foreshadowing of Rumia to Glenn. The rape shows poor writing, not acquired at all, and lessens the meaning of rape. As for the foreshadowing, I don't think that was necessary in only the second episode, because it made Glenn too OP, and we can expect that he used to be he's now the great (insert title here) who did (insert achievement here). Suddenly we expect him to be everywhere, he's established as THE protagonist and that's not fun because now there's no thrill in expecting a development or great backstory. That's cliche as fuck and it's not even making fun of the trope. Why not reserve it for the next few episodes? However, I quite enjoyed his teaching, it was well-presented and ok-written. I like it when he called Sistine shironeko just for the sake of example. Just... why now? What is his turning point for teaching? His conversation with Rumia????? Give me a break, as if that's enough for an adult to change his ways. The conversation are not even made to be touching or motivational. It was just "Magic is my inspiration, magic is part of Sistine's family legacy" and bam. He is now a popular teacher. And, if him teaching such basic premise of rune words having different effects for a SINGLE spell = interesting, I wonder how terrible the curriculum must be. Lol. genesic123 said: GangsterCat said: shameless copy paste here The adaptation of Akashic Records airing this season is the latest case in a very long line of garbage, also known as light novels, using rape as means to make the sleazy protagonist seem heroic. Rape scenes, when done right, should be able to move the viewers so we can feel the pain and horror of it. Only then, when the savior enters, it WILL then make him look badass. Making the rape short is a joke. About the lesser evil, do you honestly think his goofy personality now balances his ability? He's not dead set to be a horrible teacher anymore. However good his character progression may be in the light novels (I'm not sure he is), this is a terrible way to start a series. The first episodes should be made to be hooking. What we get is in-the-face predictable cliches which feels like a fanfiction. |

GangsterCat said: shameless copy paste here The adaptation of Akashic Records airing this season is the latest case in a very long line of garbage, also known as light novels, using rape as means to make the sleazy protagonist seem heroic. Too early. If you want to make relevant analyses you need to have the whole context, something you don't have only after 2 episodes, which means, this criticism could be justified if it comes a lot later on. For instance, the "coming out of nowhere one dimensional vilain" might be a casual thing in a world and a story full of villains. So nothing extraordinary and it could be that the violence of episode 2 is only a little bit of what is supposed to come later. Next question is whether the story will only present "weak women" as victims of this violence. If this is the case, that's a shit sexist trope indeed, if not, that's fair, but again we are only at episode 2, we don't know yet. |

This show is so cringey and dumb, but I'm still watching it for some reason. Is this going to be the next show I end up hating, but still somehow finish from this year? |

NanoRin said: Glenn is really carrying this show for me, he's a fantastic character. Could have done without that one Sisti scene but I guess the payoff of having Glenn kick that guy's a$$ was worth it. The other characters aren't really doing too much for me right now but I'm interested in the world building and their portrayal of magic. So far one of my favorite shows this season for sure. i like kinda like how they introduced a serious scene. Makes it better in my opinion, not all just fun and cheery. But yeah, i agree that the characters aren't the best, except glenn. I feel like he is the one who understands magic the best and i can't wait to see what else he knows. |

Heading straight to the rape, eh? This is the most Cross Ange show since Cross Ange. The only decent thing about this show is the comedy. Everything else, everything, is garbage. The drama is trash. The magic is trash. The plot so far is trash. If it had just been a silly comedy about an apathetic teacher (a premise which has worked really well for some other shows) plus a bit of fanservice, it could have been alright. But nah, that wasn't enough. It had to utterly suck instead, because it's apparently law that light novels have to suck. I am in despair! |

Holy shit the whole episode had a totally different atmosphere from the last one and it went super dark real quick. Volbla said: Heading straight to the rape, eh? This is the most Cross Ange show since Cross Ange. I second this. |
