Narrative writing can be better than that and criticizing the work for being cliched is a fair criticism. The visuals were really amazing. As expected from ufotable. The story was okay, however. Alisha looked pretty, however. |

Excellent art & animation. Great job Ufotable. That little fight with that assassin was great. Princess Alisha can really hold her own. That mist was dangerous as hell. It's like the apocalypse has started. Those other two fighting was cool. Even the little girl got taken. Thats just sad. Only a prologue. Well I look forward to the actual first episode & a good OP song in the end. |

Wow, that felt like a nightmare. And when that dragon burst from the flames - just wow. I love the characters so far, although the female knights all died. They were all strong fighters. The princess is really skilled with a spear! And because I notice, no fanservice either despite the setting~ Plus smooth animation and good music. That was awesome. |

Ufotable animation glorious as ever, since I enjoyed the game a lot this series won't be different I don't understand why velvelt was in the opening since berseria wasn't even launched yet, but somehow zestiria is conected to berseria so is just wait to see the relation |

Haven't played the game but this episode may have just convinced me to buy it since Steam has it on sale for $20 right now. The game is definitely worth the $20, although it is probably one of the weaker titles in terms of Tales games. Not sure if you've played any of them, but they are all relatively fun for the most part. I didn't find the story to be that great though, but hopefully people enjoy the anime. That was great! Even more so because they focused on Alisha (for some reason I feel as if the game is treating her more cruelly compared to the other main casts). What's Velvet doing in the OP? |

That was quite the setup with quite a few threads with which they can weave the coming story. Good establishment of the looming situation, the primary (presumable driving) legend, and the political situation. Of the Princess' friends we confirm Tao is dead as we saw his body. I assume the others died as well but this being anime at least one might show up again at a later date. I was beginning to like Ganette, darn it. The fighting was very good. I definitely appreciated the lack of fanservice. And for what we saw of it I thought the dragon was very well rendered. Absolutely looking forward to more of this anime! |

Fai said: Musically this had nothing too interesting going for it too. Most of OST was basically typical Gothic chorus. I guess it is serviceable for the scenes presented but I hope this has more than just typical "singing of doom". I guess it might sound all the same. As someone who's played and beat the game though, it was more enjoyable for me. I heard one of the boss themes, as well as a bit of Artorius' Throne in there. The tracks weren't ripped directly from the game, I heard a lot of extra instruments. During the big tornado scene, all these tracks were strewn together in a way that was appreciable for me. ----------------------------- Was that area Glaivend Basin? Because that looks huuuuge. ----------------------------- Also, how in the world could Alisha see Lunarre like that? Last time I checked, regular humans can't see Hellions in their true form. Can't point it at Alisa's resonance either, as Clemm could apparently see stuff too, and so could that professor. I'm assuming the tornado was a human's interpretation of the dragon, as I don't remember the soldiers being able to recognize the dragon at Glaivend Basin in the game. But then why did a dragon burst out of the tornado in Alisha's eyes? This was something that I was confused with throughout: what characters could and could not see. It's not so clear here. |

Definitely going on my to watch list. Yeah it's the same people who animated the fate series actually. Ufotable is great. Everything is smooth and crisp with their animes. Playing the game, the story is pretty damn confusing. As someone said above, the story from the anime is supposed to deviate from the video game, which is a good thing considering how uninteresting the story was in the game. Hopefully they make the necessary changes to make it more enjoyable than the game's story. |

I think that is indeed Glaivend Basin. Also, at some point in the game, didn't Lailah/Edna say that regular humans can see hellion when the corruption has reached the 'Dragon Stage'? About Lunarre, I've always thought he was somewhat special, since he was hired to assassinate Alisha |

Love how it feels like I'm watching a movie cutscene from the game as ufotable also did the games anime cutscenes. And my god that op song at the end. Showed the MC from Berseria. Loved it. Really hyped for this because Tales anime are quite good for anime game adaptions and ufotable doing it. Should really go finish the game though. |

We can argue about Rose because Dezel's with her. But the other guy was aware of Lunarre's presence. |

But from this scene in the game: It establishes that normal humans see Hellions in their original forms. So yes, people can see Lunarre, but only as his old human self. Some members of the Scattered Bones witnessed a fight with Lunarre in Pendrago, yet it didn't seem like they knew that Lunarre was a Hellion. Alisha reacting seems out of the ordinary. Even Rose reacted when Lunarre transformed, which means that Alisha shouldn't be able to see that. |

Narrative writing can be better than that and criticizing the work for being cliched is a fair criticism. Especially when the show also happens to have problems with technical aspects like directing, pacing, poor cgi use, etc.. I read your explanation.... no I don't think you understand it is a setup. If you did you wouldn't be levying criticisms at it that only make sense if it was a full show. Saying "a child dying is a cliché and therefore bad writing" is just straight retardation. Can kids not die now, should we not feel sad for them unless we know their life story? Yes, the kid was there to show "hey look, shit's bad" without having to develop her, because it is a prologue with limited time constraints. Clichés are often used for a reason, because they work. This is a prologue, we don't have time to develop everyone in it, it is merely to show the viewer the situation that spawned the rest of the show. Then you're comparing its CGI to Berserk, which....... the fact that you would even begin to do so is laughable. The CGI in this show is immensely better. You probably just don't realize how much of it is actually CGI because it isn't shit. Yeah, there is the obvious stuff like the cityscape and rocks which were a bit uncanny, but you probably don't even realize the fight scene was heavily CGI'd. Which, considering your love for RWBY, is also hilarious. Then you criticize the story for being Zestiria without even realizing that the anime is going to be heavily original, so that argument doesn't even apply. Until you see the full show, or at least a significant chunk of it, where do you can off complaining about the story? Your only valid criticisms are music, which is heavily subjective, and directing, which, considering your other criticisms, I assume you know nothing about. And now that I have addressed your damn original bait post, shame on me, I shall bid you adieu. |

As someone who played through the first five hours or so of the game, I was actually really confused why I didn't have a clue who half of the characters were, or why stuff was so different from the game. But it makes sense now that I know it was a prologue. I feel like the first half was a little rushed, but the second half was amazing. The first half did have its moments as well, especially the shots of Ladylake. Ufotable was definitely the right choice for this series, because I doubt that other studios would be able to make it look as gorgeous. Interested to see how the story will progress compared to the game, and who knows, maybe it'll encourage me to actually finish playing it. |

Leave it to @Fai, to not diappoint when it comes to series such as this lol Anyway, the production value for this is godlike and I dunno what Fai was watching but what little CG that we got in this was nowhere near the quality of Berserk's This was the first part of the prologue so I'll save my judgement on the events of this episode until next week but so far I'm quite intrigued by what happened and the lore |

zestiria is a mess of a game but this might be able to salvage it somewhat is what i want to say but this episode opened up a new realm of possible shitstorms this could cause, with the emphasis on velvet in the opening and with that dragon that wasnt in the game being introduced this episode i think its fully possible this isnt an actualy adaption of zestiria but rather a retarded fanfic tier crossover that winds up completely spoiling the new tales game tales of berseria, a game that looks like an outright apology for how shitty zestiria was. I'm almost expecting that dragon in this episode to wind up being velvet as for the ep itself, it was meh, the directing is pretty poor and jumps around too halphhazardly i swear that better be all its there for, just a few flashbacks to sell the game and maybe tie some things into the lore but im really expecting the absolute worst case scenario here, zestiria is not a foe to take lightly, this game while not the abomination some people make it out to be has a tendency to suck up anything good and spew out mediocrity, it honestly should be a fair warning to any anime only viewers that like it to let their expectations down unless this is an entirely new story or really reworked plot from the game cause it does not go in a good direction. |

Sad taste you have there kid you came up to me in the first place making you look more like a kid who got slapped without me even knowing it and start crying about it to me |
