I'll start by saying I don't hate or think it's bad at all. However I do find myself bored with this anime and I can't put my finger on why. But I did enjoy the end of this episode.

This was terrible. Sorry not sorry, but everything is just awful. The MC is a foolish powerless brat, All Might and his design is just a joke, Fire Kid apparantly can't do jack-squat, heroes having to wait for a better hero, like come on?! What was I supposed to enjoy?? The fact that the MC is probably going to be a sort of order-giving team leader to make up for his teammates weaknesses against every particular enemy? 2/10 (+2 for the OP) Dropped.

I don't mind people having criticism for the series... as long as it's actually valid. Some complaints are based on blind predictions... and some could be solved by actually reading the subtitles. The cringe is strong here.

This is what I read "It sucks because character is powerless"

dafuk is that kind of reasoning. I mean, that's actually the whole point of this series...

I can't really deny that from people because I understand that others genuinely want the MC to be awesome from the get-go. My Hero Academia is definitely not that. I mean, we are 86 chapters into the manga, and he is still an underdog. As you said, the whole point is that we are seeing the growth of this young boy who once had no power, yet held the heart of a hero.

Although I'll never understand the criticism that it 'wasn't what I expected', or 'I came for One Punch Man and I got this', which I have seen quite a lot of. It's not really fair to judge a series just because it didn't turn out to be what you expected it to be. There's no secret about it. It's a shonen battle manga through and through. A very well executed one... but one nonetheless.

while it was spoiled in the preview I am looking forward to the bitching (and maybe shonen jump editor bashing) after next weeks episode. Glad that Horikoshi has made it to the big leagues no matter what anyone says about his work.

First 3 pages are nothing more than people talking about the adaption how it was either perfect or not.
About the pacing and stuff. The kid is nothing more than a big crybaby for both episodes. His actions amounted to nothing except giving another courage to actually fight.

So much hate there, I do hate those kind of viewers, I don't imagine them watching cinema, their reviews would be just plain stupid, as that one. Old Raven's review lacks form all sense of art, and fairness, the review is just based on subjective arguments, and that not consider the actual plot, he just attacks the series without reason, if you don't like shounen, then, don't watch shounen, as simple as that.

Absolute Bloom, don't loose your time quoting people like him, It is just a waste of time, a lot of us are actually enjoying the series a lot, maybe more than we did with the manga.

His actions amounted to Kaachan being saved. And his actions is the reason he has an actual chance at becoming a hero even though he has no power. If he didn't display his insane amount of courage All Might wouldn't have taken notice of him or desired to turn his heroic spirit to something more.

Yeah ''nothing'' indeed.

Really like the series this far, though it is too soon to judge it, I hope MC doesn't find the 'hidden power inside him that was there all along' like many other shounen anime out there. I prefer him as 'human' as possible throughout the series.

Better than I expected. I was afraid the mc would get powers/quirks out of nowhere in the middle of the fight and save the day. Would be very cliche. But this wasnt the case and im glad. The ending conversation between mc and All Might guy was really powerful.
Anyway, im still wondering how will our mc get his powers?

Bullying was a bit too much but otherwise the show is pretty fun. The slow pace isn't a big issue atm, but with 13 episodes I'm not sure where this will be going. Will probably read the manga next time I get into a manga mood.

Watched this episode and the first a good handful of times now. I love everything about it. I especially enjoy the opening theme.
Glad they kept All Mights design the same. Was curious if they'd "neaten" him up a little. The VA for Izuku is also pretty good. Along with the designs I already feel overly connected to the characters. I'm happy someone finally told him he could be a hero. Proper feels there!

Even better than the first episode. I give this episode a 5/5.

That last monologue by Deku ignited hope that he won't just be a character whose existence feeds the pride of other characters. There's nothing wrong with being a cheerleader but I truly hope he becomes something much more even without a quirk.

Yeah, Izuku. Show dat tsunchan who's the boss. Now he owes him a favor, good. Damn him.

And the MC is fine, way better than someone like, say, Issei or Kirito. At least he has a personality.

"You can become a hero." Nicely said. Instead of giving blind hope, he actually said it after he saw something in him. I like that.

Very nice episode.

WOOT, awesome Intro episodes.

Now the real School Life is about to begin. (well... Deku still have to go through "certain" events before that, lol)

BTW, Deku doesn't really cry that much after this episode, because this episode was where his Heroism overpowered his Fear and uses his knowledge to help him despite for not having any superpowers.

Ep 3 is when he finally starts to train to be a Hero under All Might.

Also, Deku is actually very determined, he's been bullies over and over, yet in the end, he still believes in being a hero, and now he can. Deku doesn't give up that easily.

It's because of the timeslot they chose. The timeslot they have right now is the Nichigo slot. And it is the slot you want for high ratings. And for manga adaptations (like MHA) it's the slot you want for explosive manga sales. And currently the timeslot is kind of messed up right now and MHA was only able to get 13 episodes in.

Well, the direction for the next episode or even the one after that will probably decide whether you will like this one or not since it's basically the foundation for the series.
