Really? A cliffhanger like that? The first interesting thing happening in the episode and they end it halfway through. Really would have liked to see Shimomura revive in front of the police guards. Their faces would have been priceless.

But what are those two guys planning on doing with Kei's sister? Taking her hostage doesn't really make sense. They would be unable to contact him anyway. Or was Shimomura the actual target and the timing was just coincidence?

edit: After reading a few posts I'm kinda wondering. Was I the only one that heard Tosaki say "We are not human" in the previous episode and making the connection? Obviously he and his assistant are Ajin, too. Or at least it is very likely. Especially after she was asking Kei's sister for a black ghost. That pretty much confirmed it. On top of that she tried to grab the ghost while it was holding her up (and the episode preview kinda slaps it into the face of people that still couldn't connect the dots)

My eyes are twitching all the time when watching it but its still worth my 20 minutes. The manga art is clean surprisingly, since the guy drew hentai before Ajin's serialization lol

The CGI is harmful in some ways...

Yup I think its nice to watch something new after you've seen the source material so I guess it's interesting. CGI seems really...slow to me like it needs way more FPS.

Lol at the hentai thing, wonder if its horror as well...

Ajin... I'm so depressed, the show isn't bad but it's not as good as it should have deserved, and i waited for this episode ( the hospital bloodbath scene ) to be sure.

CGI could have been a good choice, a better dynamic, fluidity during complicated fights ( as you will see during episode 10 or 11 probably ), and the feeling of "realism" creating a better feeling of fear when you face the bloody black ghosts.

It's not a big studio, wasn't expecting madhouse to adapt it but it would have been a dream rated 10/10 everywhere.

Instead we get Polygon, and what we already saw with Berserk or Knight of Sidonia, amazing mangas getting bittersweet adaptations.

Also the 13+ is one hell of a bad choice, even if they're still keeping much freedom, feels like Gate all over again, the material is bloody gore without focusing on it too much but damn, it's necessary to the story...

OP BGMs as usual, am I the only one feeling that the pacing is a bit slow?
The KeiXKai escape kind of bored me already, I just wish to see all dem battles coming fast.
And the smoothness of the animation is still way worse than Sidonia, hope they'll do stg with it in the coming episodes.

On the side notes, 3D CGI grills are good moe grills :D
You will soon learn that a heart that choose to exist, even in a life filled with pain, will one day allow us to meet again.
With the world's blessings, we will meet again and again, forever returning to the homeworld we've yet to see.
Many, many times.

I was wondering why Kei's legs didn't heal; I was thinking back to when he got mowed down the first time and managed to get back up almost instantly. It makes sense, though, if they have to be mortally wounded before their healing process can begin.

Not sure what to think about the guy with the hat though. The detectives instantly locking onto the guy with a hat and making him a prime suspect feels like a giant asspull. "He has a hat, he must be an Ajin or related to them!!" Not feeling that.

Otherwise a great episode. That ending scene was rather unexpected.
It's an entirely different kind of flying, altogether!

shocking how Izumi died, that was intense. Looked like that one guy was controlling the black ghost, looks like an extension of the Ajin or maybe something that links them to another world, which would how Ajin gets their "immortality".

Kei slitting his throat to heal himself was pretty extreme, smart though.

the thrills are real!

Ajins' abilities are insane, though. You have to kill yourself to completely heal yourself-- pretty ironic. Unfortunately, he's on "human" state when he's just injured.

That's kinda brutal end.. I didn't really think that secretary(?) will die so fast. That Tosaki guy is all like Arima kishou.. In looks and in role.

Being an Ajin should be really psychologically hard.. You are being hunted by whole world.. And you don't even have an escape - death.. And if they get caught.. They feel that pain and they can't stop it.. :l

So far I'm really liking these series

Someone mentioned about Kei not covering his face. For me not changing his shirt was more stupid. Kai took a huge bag from home. I can't believe there was no clothes there.
If I seen someone in bloody, damaged shirt I would take a long, close look("OMG, what happened to that boy?"), therefore I would recognize his face. If he wore normal clothes they wouldn't initially get so much of attention - "Two teenagers going on a trip". He doesn't look that special.
Of course, given the situation he would be recognizable anyway but the white, bloody shirt screamed "Ajin!" from far away and checking the face was just confirmation of it.

Yeah, I also wonder about that.

But perhaps he just said so to in order to remind her not go get emotional and just follow orders because she is an "official", not human (meaning "civil") right now, without implying they are really not human. But I personally doubt that.

BTW. I wasn't surprised when Kei killed himself. It was the right thing to do. He knew he will revive - he died twice already - and short pain of death is nothing compared to the prelonged pain of broken legs. I would do the same thing. Kai reaction was what surprised me. What was he thinking?
I guess I am able to get into Ajin mindset too easily but fail to get into human emotional state... Maybe I am an Ajin too and have no idea about that? Yeah, right. :D

So Kei is starting to think like an ajin instead of a human. He has come to acknowledge the fact that he is an ajin now and there's nothing he can do about it. After falling down and breaking his legs he killed himself and he's good as new. Yikes. Kai didn't exactly like this action of his. Kei is considering parting ways with Kai since it would only put him in danger, but he should realize that Kai is in no mood of leaving his friend. Kei also came face to face with his monster or ghost or whatever it is and it probably got the wrong idea that Kei wants to get rid of Kai.

The guy with the cap wants to recruit Kei and wants to use him and that ajin he freed for something, probably against the ajin monitoring dudes. The new ajin dude stabbed that woman with his monster, but since she could see his monster's claws piercing her and she's also alive in the next episode preview, it's safe to assume that she's an ajin too. And this shows that the government has ajins on their side too and they're not just capturing ajins and turning them into lab rats. That woman looked cute when she got a bit excited and then realized that she said too much.

Things are getting interesting. The guy with the cap looks like he'll be on Kei's side, but it could be that he'll only use Kei for his own gains.

It is more spot on due to CGI animation style. CGI is the future!
"I'm just your typical human being who commit sins just like you. But the difference is that I never lied and tell anyone that what I did was right. I regret and ask for forgiveness from Him."

Why is my signature not anime-related? It's because who gives a fuck? Anyway I'd like to advertise to you this:

SHINGEKI NO KYOJIN IS FOLLOWING A SIMPLE FLOW OF THE STORYLINE. AND IT GETS REPETETIVE IF YOU VIEW IT ON ITS BIGGER PICTURE. WITH A LITTLE PLOT TWIST AND NEW IDEAS, YOU FORGOT THAT IT HAD ALREADY HAPPENED BEFORE.

These episodes go by so fast (not a good thing in this case).

First 3:30 just being recap and the OP which I skip and then 2 mins for the ED and preview of next episode at the end which I also skip.In total 19 mins and 30 seconds of new material each episode, yet can't seem to get invested in this at all, stuff happens and that's it,don't particularly care about what happens.

This show leaves me with no impression each passing episode.

For me it was even so slow, they followed the manga step by step, 100% accurate. Maybe you just don't get it.

It's possible.

However it's also possible of him surviving the fall as a human. There are methods to survive such falls: relaxing body, bending knees, touching ground legs first and then rolling on side, changing impact energy to movement...
From what we already seen the friend would make a great stuntman so he probably knows the tricks and his body is sporty enough to use them. He doesn't need any superpower. His instinct and body control are enough.

That's been kinda bothering me too. It makes no sense for Kei to not even attempt to come up with a possible way to hide his face when almost the entire nation knows what he looks like and is on his lookout and despite the show explicitly insinuating that he's haunted by fear of being identified and pursued. Kai should've lent his helmet to Kei. That could've prevented him from being so easily recognised by people. But apparently something so obvious didn't strike them at all. It should have, after the incident involving the kidnappers at least, if not from the get go.

I read a couple of chapters of the manga in which I noticed that they don't have the helmet that Kai is seen wearing in the anime at all. Kai doesn't wear any helmet; only Kei wears one which is the same that he's seen wearing in the anime.

According to episode 1 at very least it contains a bottle (probably water or energy drink) and a flashlight.
Considering those are stuff you take when you plan going camping and the fact the bag is huge I am also pretty sure it contains a change of clothes.
Kai packed it up while planning to go looking for/help Kei so it contains stuff he decided might come handy.
