This series was a lot of fun, though I can`t give it a high rating, since the plot was typical and there was too much sexualization of the female characters. (Also I found it weird how there were so few male characters in it at all, except for villains and couple minor supporting roles.)

I thought he was just gonna say I love you. And then he said, will you be my family? I was like :O Did they translate that right? Did he just propose? I'm confused...*waits* oh shit.

Guess he was feeling better than he looked. xD

I wished they had shown some kinda of animation for that last swing....leaving it up to my imagination doesn't do it justice. =( Some sorta cool slash? Like bleach?

Dat flag ceremony felt like Harry Potter. Go Hogwarts!

Male character unfortunately will show up from here onward. Some are villain but there are also rival ones. You will see them if there are second season that is.

Loved this show especially the characters, battles and that amazing soundtrack. Hope there is a sequel in the works as I would be all over that, I am kind of bummed though since Todo Toka didnt make it to the Seven Star Battle Festival even though shes fucking awesome.

seriously tho, isnt it just a flawed system if you try to choose 6 strongest students as representatives with single match elimination tournaments?

Thanks to that, the student council president which would easily be among the strongest in the school is not part of the team.

To give chance to unknown/less popular but powerful/skillful students.
Too bad for Touka and Shizuku though.

^Todo is legit.

At the beginning I dropped this anime because I thought it looked like another generic ecchi/battle with generic characters with weak backbones.

Well fuck was I wrong or what.

Really glad I watched it through - great relationship between the characters - and it brought an interesting art style in the later episodes.

Good to hear it sold so well - or at least has sold well so far! :D

Well it was quite obvious that if Akaza didn't act too much of an asshole, neither Ikki or Stella would've clashed with Toka, the school seem intended on making sure Toka makes it to the Seven Star Festival after all.

The scene when they prepared themselves for the one strike was well animated and felt intense! Ikki wins ofc.
Ikki: "Will you be my family" That sounds like a marriage proposal to me. :o
Good ending. Will watch second if there's one. 8/10 for me.

Damn okay. A LN adaption with ACTUAL romance and ACTUAL character development. What is this sorcery.

The characters were good and their interactions was nice.
The story itself was generic and overused by many other shows.
The soundtrack was nothing special and forgettable.
Enjoyment was good. I really liked the fact that it actually contained romance and not just had a romance tag like every other generic harem where romance is no-where in sight.
Overall 7.5/10 rounded down to 7/10. It was a fun watch and a second season would be warmly welcome.

Rather expected but still a pretty decent ending for this anime I must say! The action was pretty good and the overall character development was also pretty lovely.

The romance/ecchi parts were okay but it was trying to appeal too much rather than focusing on proper story development.

All in all a pretty decent anime, but could've been better in so many ways.

While it wasn't as blatantly generic as other LN adaptations,it was still fairly generic.

Literally the only saving grace was its ok animation and the instant hook-up between Mr WhiteKnight and Tsundere girl Nr 1072 to break the mold (even if it was handled very immaturely to say the least).
Really disliked how if you weren't Mr WhiteKnight you weren't allowed to have any good fights in this series (except for the Imouto fight scene) plus the comically bad guys/rest of the school acting like sheep moments were comically laughable.
Other than that its still the same typical routine as we've seen a hundred times before. All all the Mahouka-esque story/character elements weren't doing the series any favors...

So if my math is correct 20 rounds with 6 undefeated at the end should mean there are at least 3,145,728 in the tourney. And they were all from the same school. yeah right. 8 - 10 rounds would be much more believable.

You're assuming they were doing single-elimination and that everyone had to fight everyone. That clearly isn't the tourney format.

It seems a lot more like they are using the Swiss-system style of tournament to determine who gets to the Seven Star Festival which is probably a true elimination tournament. The Swiss-system reduces the amount of bouts required dramatically.

uh no, everyone will never fight everyone in single elimination tourney, that not how single elim works.
And I know swiss tourneys, I participate in competitive Yugih all the time. In the last YCS I attended there were over 1,200 people and there was only 1 undefeated player after 11 rounds of swiss. Now they cut to top 32 and had single elimination for 5 more rounds and the guy who was undefeated went 16-0 but from there on out he was always playing against someone who lost once or had a loss and a draw. Now if you have a swiss tourney with 20 rounds and still have 6 undefeateds at the end of it thats gonna be a shit ton of people.

Would it be out of place and wrong to post links to where everyone can buy Volume one of the dvd/blue ray and pre sales for volume 2? :P I have already posted in other series topics of it about the sales themselves but this being the most viewed and discussed for the series I figured this would be the best spot for people to see and go buy :p

Also guys don't forget to buy the light novels! the light novel sales are even more important if you want a second season than disc sales.

Not necessarily, in Swiss format, you only need 20 other unique players to have those 6 remained undefeated the whole time as long as they those undefeated players never get matched against one another, and they'd be the only ones with enough points to be in that top 6 (they'd all be tied) as everyone else would have lost at least 1 match. Obviously there's more than 26 players in this tournament, but you don't need millions or even thousands to achieve Rakudai's outcome.

Participation on tournament is voluntary. Not all student need to participate because not all of them are combatant. Even if they are one the risk for those who participate itself like injury is really high.

Good series happy ending for everyone, but too bad the fight between Ikki and Touka was a complete joke, i was expecting more actions, what a bummer.

Hopefully the 2nd season comes with better fights between the representatives from each school

Except it's not a harem. But yea whatever.
Even the tags say it. Unless you haven't watched this show at all which seems to be the case with lots of people here. They only focused on the animation and shit.
Plz don't say it's the only thing noteworthy here which is not...

That's... not what a harem means. Asterisk and Infinite Stratos are harems while Rakudai is a romcom.

Precisely, apart from the supposedly little sister (that I find annoying), none of the other female characters actually appeared to have romantic interest in the MC, or maybe I'm missing something. But, a second season would be cool as it was enjoyable. 7/10

I figured in this day and age people would know what the definition of harem is.

Harem = 3 or more girls liking the same guy or 3+ guys liking the same girl (reverse harem)

Rakudai only has 2 girls loving the MC, so its a love triangle.

Calling this show harem is like calling Macross Frontier or White Album 2 a harem.

Blazers are considered adults once they reach 15, Stella is 15 and Ikki is 16, under that view they're considered adults already.

Saw the reviews for it, and I have to say, that was surprisingly pleasant.

And I'm a bit disappointed we didn't get to see more of Stella in action.

But overall, it was a nice series and I would definitely watch S2.

The fight may be short, but it was awesome. He poured everything in his one swing, pushing himself over the limit until blood gushed out of h is body ,destroying raikiri and seeing Touka collapse was a sight to see.

That old fart getting kicked out by Stella was funny, but he deserved it. I don't know what the father is thinking, but one thing I know for now, he's an a-hole.

A nice, satisfying ending with that proposal in the middle of everyone. Props to Stella's dad in supporting the two's relationship.

just this episode really proves that Rakudai is really better than Asterisk.
Epic fight, even if it is a short fight but damn! Ikki didn't just give his all, he give more than what his limit could do! and in the end it was awesome the way he raised his fist declaring the win! very excellent!
The romance is OK on this one and they proposed in front of all what courage of both!
Shizuku...just be happy for your brother!
My initial score is 8 but I'll give it a 9 because of this last episode.
5/5!
9/10.

Nice! The anime just finished but it already has more than 100k members, ranking in the top 400 by popularity.

It may reach 125k members eventually, making it in the top 300. It could be in the top 200 if it reaches 155k members. It will be difficult to reach 185k members to be in top 150, let alone 235k members to be in top 100.
