Good episode. Though the direction of Rin attacking Caster was...odd, to say the least. They easily could have had Shirou vs. Kuzuki and Rin vs. Caster happening simultaneously; it might have even made it more exciting. Instead, they chose to do it like...like this. It's a really weird choice.

Hard to show both at once. It was like this in the VN too. That's why we saw the blood and flash, rewind see it from Rin's perspective.

I rewatched it with subs and a not shitty stream.

Kuzuki's flashback was good but I doubt any of it would really make sense if I hadn't read FHA, and I even ended up tearing up when Caster bit the dust. The church seen wasn't...... amazing, but it got the job done. Tbh most of my problems with it come from how it was handled before this episode.

Combine that with probably the best Bulge vs Ass imaginable and I can safely say I enjoyed this episode a whole lot. Also the music was really awesome as always, can't wait till the blu-rays when we can actually hear it.

Can't wait for more Saber ponytail next episode.

Also I guess some kind of desert looking thing.

hmmm interesting..

- Kuzuki flashback...i liked it...but i wish they showed some of his life as a disposable assassin would have put more weight to his "i don'T feel human" talk. here it kind of just feels like "i'm lonely and stuff". or better yet since they wanted to give caster more face time how bout him discovering himself with caster could have gotten 2 birds with 1 stone.

-lancer/archer fight was neat although just a little short. I have mixed feelings about it. I wished it was longer but then again archer should not be able to last in any real full on prolonged confrontation against lancer. Lancer skills hard counter archer. Red man was was barely hanging on by a ball hair just to stand against him.

-Shirou vs kuzuki WHOA SHIROU were all them monologues come form? jesus christ this and the last episode.....it's like shirou is just now entering the series. were in the fuck was all this throughout the first half. fuck he was good in this sense but there is hardly any backup to give him the credibility. As for the fight itself well...i would have liked for shirou to have put up more of a fight before getting knocked on his ass. this show continues to not wanna give shirou as much face. then again again with the mixed feelings. shirou can handle himself but a prolonged fight with kuzuki would have been retarded.

-caster vs rin once again it was love but a bit underwhelming...of course Rin should not be able to prolong a fight with caster without her gems, and she only has less than 10 of her "combat trump cards" available to her here. would have liked her hand to hand to be a little more clear with the camera angles. i was really looking forward to rin displaying Kirei's Bajiquan techniques. it kind of feels a little over jumbled or maybe i just need to watch it again. I did catch she used Kirei's signature thrust punch.

overall the episode felt way to fastly paced...like they shoved waay too much into one episode. this was suppose to be one of the bigger confrontations and it felt a tad underwhelming. and with how many episodes left in the season they probably could have used just a little bit of padding? on the other hand Rin, Archer, and Shirou should not be able to put up any real extended fight against their respective opponents.. i hate to ay it but maybe they should have taken a slight page from bleach in regards to the fights? but then again it would be really silly to dump more than necisary money into a fight that is only really the first major boss fight.

so i'll give it a 4/5 because it felt hollow and underwhelming +1 because Gay bulge vs raw ass was awesome.

nah man, while i agree with some of cookingpreist points, he has a lot of nitpicks and overall very negative to this adaptation (i don't believe that there is 1 thing he likes about it). I was clinging onto the hope that cour 2 would be as good as i dreamt it would be but the rushing in this ep just killed all the optimism i have for this adaptation.

i also believe that what i said is true, there is no point in lecturing someone on nasuverse jargon when the anime itself is hardly explaining any of it and the person doesn't show interest in learning.

Oh no I agree with you on that, ufotable is skipping a lot of the nasuverse jargon. I just wanted to make sure fai wasn't going to start a rant.

Rin calling Caster thrid rate and talking about how she was gonna beat her was really annoying. How about you just go ahead and do it instead of talking.

You completely missed the point. She was deliberately insulting Caster's magic and calling herself a "first-class mage" in order to trick Caster into thinking this was about mage pride and proving who has the superior magic, so that she'd get confident and close enough for Rin to unleash her kung fu that Kotomine taught her

All though Raw Ass quite literally came out of thin air it's still important for future episodes. It's nothing if not part of the package.

He claims "music interrupts the mood" or something when asked abut why back to back scene in ep13 had no music. Which basically tells all you need to know about his ability to direct stuff...

Ass shot at the beginning was unnecessary and did they really have to show the kuzuki's flashback now? Its like Akame ga kill again when they show a character's flashback everytime before they kill them off. Lol the fight between archer and lancer was hyped so much yet it lasted only for 4-5 minute and was completely unsatisfying. Regarding caster and his master, I never cared for the both of them since the first cour so the rest of the episode was pretty much a waste of time.

I thought the fight was great but apart from that I agree
Caster and her master were pretty lackluster characters and for such "big" villians very underwhelming

We only learn of that particular ability in HF, when Kikiki goes up against him iirc.

All of those are only an asspull because adaptation did not bother explaining either of them.

Only last point actually can be "guessed" from how Servants handled injuries so far as all of them having restorative powers.

This episode was really excellent, how much action, how many developments that make me anxious and excited, I distrusted Archer plan from the beginning, and still there was that fight against Lancer, I want to see a battle to the death between them

Rin and Shirou seems that finally realized who's Archer, actually and this final development, after the victory over Caster, with the prediction of a great battle, hopefully everything about Archer and Shirou be shown soon, the anime is really exciting, with sure it is among the best of the season ..

the odds heavily favor lancer. kind of wish we still had that servant stat spreadsheet thread would have been awesome for the anime viewers.

uh just an FYI you might wanna take a look at previos episodes in regards to character's knowing identities. some know more than they're letting on and it's a major reason behind their actions.

It's acceptable when it's the prologue and we're just being introduced to his abilities.

When we're essentially 3 quarters of the way through the series and he's still pulling new moves out of thin air I'd say that passes into asspull territory.

Well you gotta remember this is barely just over halfway through the VN, so in anime terms Raw ass is going to play a big part in not only this anime but the following movie, so seeing how it works is very important.

It's not there solely to pull archer out of an unwinable situation.

I know that's quite important for later events in UBW and HF, and I'm okay with how it's used every time after this fight. But the fact remains that the moment it was pulled out in this episode it was an asspull no matter how it's used in the future.

So yeah, it's not solely there to save archer's ass, but I'd say that it's certainly a part of it.

What? No it's neither lol.

For example in Deen UBW Archer takes Lancers Gay Buldge with his Raw ass and then roflcopters away unscathed. Some of the attention to detail as far as adaptation goes are unmatched.

It's let down by a shit POV and lack of meaningful exposition, it's still 8000x better than freaking Deen.

I actually didn't bother with the BDs since I watched the first 6 episodes while they were airing and everyone decided that ufotable was the literal worst because of the BDs, I was wondering why they cut that scene since it seems pretty damn important in this route.
