| My first impressions of this anime are extremely good. That was some funny stuff. If the entire series is as fun to watch as this first episode I'm in for a treat. The dichotomi between Sakura and Rinne is pretty good so far, they seem like good compliments to each other. |

| Tbh episode 1 was pretty funny but I watched the episodes after the first and they weren't as good. There was a lot of cost cutting and with episodic anime you have to have something impressionable every episode but some episodes were meh. Nevertheless enjoyable. Needed some thoughtless Sol fantasy type anime. Love the deadpan though haha. |

| Rinne, the Rumiko Takahashi anime that I know almost nothing about. Mainly because I barely see anyone talking about it. Blows my mind how some of her other works are so popular yet a relatively recent show like this is so unpopular, at least outside of Japan. And I think one of the reasons may be the streaming platform it's widely available on. HIDIVE definitely isn't as popular as Crunchyroll. And I'd say marketing for their current catalog is garbage. Their recent Takahashi anime Urusei Yatsura Remake suffers for it. So I can't imagine how it must've been like 8 years ago. Seriously, they didn't even bother dubbing this show. Something that's a staple for Takahashi anime and was responsible for popularizing anime with Inuyasha and Ranma 1/2. Rant aside, I am hooked. I like that Sakura is voiced by Marina Inoue. She'd later go on to voice Ryoko in the Urusei Yatsura Remake. Judging by the first episode, it seems to be a return to classic Takahashi humor after the somewhat serious tone of Inuyasha. Inuyasha did have comedy but it had a more serious plot compared to her previous works. I wonder if Rinne is like an amalgamation of Inuyasha and Ranma 1/2, kind of like how Ranma 1/2 was like an amalgamation of Urusei Yatsura and Maison Ikkoku (taking aspects of both series and making it one). If so, I can get behind the direction of Rinne after the disappointment of the Ranma 1/2 anime. |
