Beauty Pop by Kiyoko Arai. A shojo haircutting manga.
I read it because I was bored, but I'm glad I did.

Fullmetal alchemist I'm pretty sure. I'd watched the TV series and was - at the time - watching FMA brotherhood. However, I couldn't wait for the weekly releases of the episodes, so I picked up the manga at around

Pokemon. It was that episode where they're having a race then the Ponyta evolves and whoops everyone's ass. Sorry for spoilers.

I think the manga came after the show, does that still count? Who knows..

I remember reading the first chapter or so of Fushigi Yuugi a little bit over ten years ago, but for the life of me I don't know how I got ahold of it. It wasn't a tankobon volume from what I remember, but it was in English. Then again it was a while ago and my brain may have skewed the memory a bit. The first manga series I ever followed was Fruits Basket about six or so years ago, my friend was collecting all the volumes and kindly leant them to me. First manga I ever owned was the Death Note box set, which I bought earlier this year. I sure hope my kids end up liking manga, because I plan to keep my collection for life.

Not gobsmackingly good in retroperspective but not bad either. Found it very enjoyable at the time though.

Salior Moon also my very first anime. I really liked it at the time (of course I had nothing to compare it to) but now it doesn't suit my tastes still, I think I gave it an 7 or 8 because of sentimental reasons...
Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.

Elfen Lied was my first complete manga. I didn't really get into anime and manga until I was around 15. Never finished a series till I was 16.

That would be the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga. My younger brother had gotten a couple of tankobon as a gift (we were fans of the anime), and I read them alongside him. I remember that, when I first read it, I was initially confused as to why the book was (from my perspective) written backwards! My how I've changed since then.

First manga I ever read was called Drama Con. I hadn't really liked the idea of reading manga because I thought comic books were stupid, especially when they are read backward. Well, a friend of mine bought me the triple volume of Drama Con and told me that it is read forward and that it was funny so I should give it a try.
After a day I had laughed and cried ridiculously and sometimes for no reason because this manga was all over the place and kept me interested because I'd been to cons before.
That had been all it took for me to want to read more. It takes me a long time to get through a series, but when I do I love every moment of it.
