I was wondering if there was a possibility that others could become a titan as well. I guess it comes down to who Eren's father has seen in the past to give them the same procedure to give them the titan ability. Assuming thats how Eren got his (could have sworn there was flashbacks that Eren was having of his father doing something to him that he doesn't really remember).
Also I like how Armin has changed a lot in the series so far. I thought he was going to be a weak type that would hold everyone back and eventually get himself and others killed. But I think he is a very valuable part of his team due to how smart he is, I don't think he has showed a lot of fighting skill as of yet.
Also I'm glad Reiner didn't die, but I swore he got crushed like a berry in that episode.
sasha is scared shitless.. if she is a traitor that can become a titan...she wont be scared .. so the calm ones you should suspect
I think its kind of unfair to say that anyone who can become a titan is a traitor as of yet. Unless you had a different meaning for traitor.
Nice episode really! But the effing 3 minutes recap is back =_=
Question for fellow manga readers:
Man I wasn't so sure what was gonna happen because its been a long time since I read the manga but Reiner whispered Eren's location to Annie right there right? Also did Reiner slightly change to Titan form to escape Annie's hand? Cuz he got some smoke afterwards.

Yeah, there's even a flashback to it in the Reiner and Bert reveal chapter(chapter 42).

OR maybe there actually was some meaning behind that and it just hasn't been explained/you haven't figured it out yet. :P

Don't worry, man. Everything here is happening for a reason. And the answers are just hiding in plain sight.
Just to help you connect the dots, Armin already realised that the Female Titan was a Titan-shifting human. And the Titan Shifter just happens to look at Armin. What's the only logical reason which would explain why the Female Titan that only kills to protect itself would just turn away from a human who could potentially kill it? Probably something along the lines of 'Oh, it's just Armin.' meaning that the Female Titan knows abour Armin already. Most probably as a human being.
I don't think so. You don't kill a lot of humans but leave one behind like that. It just makes no sense with the reality that was established so far.
Even if there is some kind of bs explanation, that Armin is important to the Titans, that speaks even more nonsense. It ires even more that the killed ones were pretty much side characters but Armin is a main.
Armin was also on verge of death before but was spared now. So technically if he should be dead now, then what's the point of sparing him? None other than that he is main character.
You can conclude that she wants to keep the death rate as low as possible.
By leading the titans who slaughtered the front squads? Doesn't seem like the best idea.
That is providing she's the one who lead them and that they didn't just follow her on their own.
We know from earlier episodes that the non-human titans tend to attack human titans (Eren going berserk and then being attacked). And we dont know as a fact whether human-titans have the ability to control/command other titans. Therefore you cant conclude that she led them by choice.
Maybe they were chasing her as she was heading to the group in titan form (you can argue that she could sneak there in human form, but that would be harder (slower) and too dangerous - so she had to go in titan form).
Therefore it might be completely possible that she wannted to keep the death-count as low as possible (shown by only counter-attacking).
So sparing Armin makes some sense (Biartz).
On a different note - to everyone who is saying that its the titans blood on his face... bullshit?!
Think about it, he was totally crushed in her hand. She balled her hand completely into a fist with him being in it! She didnt leave any room for him to not be crushed. Even if he kinda made room with his swords we would have seen that (blood spatter). Im 80% sure that he was in fact crushed. Assuming he wasnt, there is no way that he wasnt scratched even a little bit by it. Do you even know how strong titans are (watch the episode where Eren plays golf with some titan's head!)
To be honest, Im not 100% sure either. We will se, no point in discussing it at this point :D
Edit: About my previous reasoning - I concluded that someone somehow communicated with the female titan. Now thanks to a couple of posts above (ssjokg) I know how
Reiner carving it into her hand.
Now Im 100% sure that he is a titan and that they are related.

If you have your head crushed, even if you ARE a Titan-shifter,you WILL die.So no he didnt heal any wounds because he wasnt wounded.
You know there is no point in US putting spoilers if you go on and say it yourself.

after this episode i was really hyped and i was really willing to start reading the manga.

I've read the manga since long ago and start rereading it before the anime start airing. It didnt ruin the anime experience for me since I was only looking forward to the animation since the manga's art is... :/
Better watch the anime till this season ends for better experience since they adapt the manga faithfully. Then you can resume the manga from where the anime left off since it might be a long time (1-2 years) for another season or even read it from the start :P

You've managed 17 episodes. It's not worth it now, really.

So?Eren was looking at his hand when he was regenerating too.NOBODY had any idea what happened during the same scene in the manga.

The eyes of that female Titan look a lot like Annie's, I wonder if she's the female Titan.
But the animation in this episode was awesome, and the OST as well, whoever that Titan may be, she's smart for blocking her neck, and I wonder what she wants with Eren though.
Also I though Reiner was dead for a second, but he is pretty strong, and that scene with him spinning out of the female Titan's hand was epic.
Same here glad someone who didnt read the manga noticed too :P
if you start thinking one step more then you may be realising something bigger because it works the same way with others :P
Man, I'm more interested in knowing how the heck Reiner, Jean, and Armin are all going to get away from the other Titans now that they're horse-less. Unless some other scouting legion guys show up with extras, or Jean/Reiner's horses come back.
I found the female titan to be terrifying for a number of reasons. For one, she was sprinting. Yes, we've seen them run before, and they look just as creepy, but they always seem to run with their arms down and swaying slightly to the side, while the FT sprinted like a normal human would.
She also didn't eat any of the humans attacking her either. I found that scene where she removes Armin's hood to be scarier than when a random Titan eats a human, if nothing else because of the irregularity of it all.
On a related note, the FT leaving Armin alone might have seemed merciful, but he would have been killed off by a random Titan later on had Jean and Reiner not of showed up. At least inside a town you can hide or maneuver around buildings. Out in the plains, speed is your only real advantage against them, and without a horse, it'll be hard to last long out there, and even your maneuver gear system would run out of gas eventually before you made it back inside a city wall.

This week's serving was rather spectacular indeed, Female Titan crushing everything in its path (well, not everything, but still). The animation and BGM were even better than usual.
That strategy was very cool and well-planned. The female titan had the hair-style of Mikasa but had the hair color of Annie. I am inclined to believe it is Annie since it did not kill Armin and plus the hair color.
"Was it that one there with the nice ass?" Just what does Reiner take Titans as? xD
Jean is now my favorite male. He has developed so much. Armin is a close 2nd because of the same reason.
"Armin, I thought it was creepy how you always clung to Eren" Jean and his awesomeness xD
Armin was a man there. For a moment I thought Reiner died...
"The big bitch got scared and decided to go home" xD Reiner says some funny things.
I still think it is Annie coz it's eye color is blue now that I noticed it.

It drives home the point of how DEVASTATING a titan is when it has human intelligence. That's what this arc is pretty much for. Can you imagine a squad of these guys attacking the walls?
That titan looked amazingly like Annie. WTF, it can't be her can it? On the other hand it is strange how she was the one left behind and now a titan that looks like her has appeared. But how could she end up there and transformed to a titan?

oh duh! i should have realized it before
while watching the episode i didn't understand at all why he started screaming those things to jean. so he was trying to make the titan believe that eren was already dead
oh man, i really love armin
That will only work if the Titan knew that Armin and Eren are best friends. That puts the Annie scenario even more possible.
oh wow okay
i already knew who the female titan was (is? whatever) because i have a bad habit of accidentally spoiling myself
but wHOA they done a really good job with colouring it and stuff. really good art. really good animation. oh my.
CandyRat said: Can someone please explain to me why Armin has two horses?
Not only Armin - all the Communication (or Relay - in the manga) Squads, which position in the formation is b/w the Scouts (the guys whose task is to detect the titans on the flanks) and the Carts (the supply line in the center) are responsible for taking care of the extra horses they bring.
As you can see, outside the walls mobility is crucial for survival - the use of the 3DMG is lowered by having no to little surroundings to use it - no buildings, no trees in some areas, where soldiesr can attach the hooks. Some of them are using the saddles for engaging in attacks (Ness, Cis, and Jean). Other than that, Scouts coming back to the Formation might need extra horses - the FT is really different in slapping away the horses - but you also have the running class titans, who can outrun horses for brief periods and fresh horses are needed to get away from there as quickly as possible.
Most of the newbies are assigned to the Communication squads and within the squads Erwin gave them the task for bringing the spare horses.
Because it was the FT's blood.Because if he WAS crushed he wouldnt have cuts or any kind of wounds. He would be dead.
Strange, I saw blood coming out from her hand when she crush him BEFORE He cut her hand.So who's blood is that?
That blood must be some unnecessary special effect xD
