And fuck the main character. Well hell, that is disappointing... I hate mangas that sound and look great but end up sucking because of flat characters or a horrible, out of there ending. Kind of like the ending of the first Envangelion anime, like woah that sucked. adipati_sepuh said: Fairy Tail, for the... timeskip. That. Timeskip. I have nothing against timeskips as plot device. Except if it keeps some characters from aging normally. I like time skips to be less then 3 years, but if its more it kinda ruins the manga for me, these aren't the characters I fell in love with. I hate it even more if they change the main characters with newer ones too, how dare they replace my babies. TonyTin said: Usagi Drop. The first half was amazing though. I'm pretty certain that everyone on MAL didn't like the ending for Usagi Drop, everything before the timeskip was adorable and then they ruined it in the second part. |

GANTZ WTF with the last arc? And Cage of Eden really, it was on may fav list for en almost entire year, then the super shitty ending came through Ciguatera I suppose the mangaka is either troll or retard, maybe the first one. WTF with last chapter, I have about 99% of "woah this goes to my fav list" when the troll is coming |

Kangoku Gakuen. Really, I don't understand why people think of it as a parody manga. It's just a disgusting pile of crap, it irritates me like hell. I keep reading it only to see how bad it can be, and I regret it everytime a new chapter come out. It's like I lose hope in the humankind when I read that crap... I mean, why should a bunch of guys be tortured and humilated and enjoy it?! And why they keep fighting not to be expelled?! And what's with that biatch vice-president?! Oh god, why?! |

I have read lots of manga, but I never get pissed off like when I read manga "peach girl" the main girl has a complex of having a tan skin (where she often be misunderstood of a naughty girl), and she is in love with her classmate, whilw in the other side there is another guy who is in love with her.. the guy that she loves, love her back and they are start to date each ther, up to this point it may seems like a typical shoujo manga that you can find anywhere.. but the problem starts when there is another girl like the guy that she love, and she start to feel insecure then she start to think of being with the other guy who loves her since she cant stand of getting anxious and hurt.. then she broke up with her bf and choose the guy who love her.. and when she finally realize that she still love her ex bf, she broke up with the second guy, then come back with her ex.. and after she come back to her ex, she start to realize that she hurts the second guy and she felt gulty, and she doesnt want to lose the 2nd guy, so she decided to break up again with the first guy and come back to the second guy.. don't you see how ANNOYING is the girl?? she couldn't decide whom she choose, and she just choose to be whomever she like whenever she likes.. I feel really irritated whenever I rememver this manga series.. :@ |

I came across Tenchi-muyo years ago and it was horrid. The rat tail was bad enough but the guy was just completely hate-able from the get go. It's always some wimp "nice guy" that gets all these girls falling all over him. Probably just the writers personal fantasy being put on paper. |

Strobe Edge. Such a high rating on MAL seems pretty foolish to me. Anyone planning on reading it, take extreme care. Ugh. So much rage I can't believe I cared so much. Spoilers below. It had so much potential, it could've had the wonderful theme of moving on because the one you love will not always feel the same way about you, which would have made this shoujo extremely strong for its genre. I was ECSTATIC when it seemed to be going down that course, but no. Ugh. The whole deal about the gf and the lame excuse they gave for it, just, no. Why. Seemed like it was trying too hard to seem inspiring when really there was another love interest that was more deserving of being happy. The love triangle itself was pretty much pointless and only served to unnecessarily prolong the story. Ughhh. |

Dance! Subaru. This manga is scored an 8. A BLOODY 8! I'm a good sport. I read and watch things as objectively as I possibly can and even if I'm not enjoying it I like to give it the benefit of the doubt. I read this manga to the end even though all I wanted was to flip my computer out the window ninety percent of the time. So what exactly about this manga infuriates me so? Why is it that no matter how interesting the dances were, or how much I liked the art, I just couldn't bring myself to rate it higher than a 2? Warning: This is a really long rant. Where do I even begin? I had many problems with this manga but I want to focus on the aspect that bothered me the most: the characters. Now, I understand that this manga is about Subaru. I get it! It's about her dance and how she improves, but why are all the other characters so unimportant? Half the time they only appear as comparison so that we can see how awesome Subaru is and then they're immediately forgotten about! Hell, even the important characters don't matter. They only exist for the sake of Subaru's improvement and then they vanish just as easily as they appeared. Whatever happened to Vania? Why didn't he go after Subaru? How come she never contacted the people from the cabaret after leaving Japan? Didn't they practically raise her? Weren't they her family? One can argue that Subaru never got close to anybody and the affair with Tatie really hurt her but I think this was just lazy writing. I can't believe that Subaru, after spending so many years with these people and seeing them every single day, wouldn't have a bond with them. At the least ONE of them! The others e.g. her parents, her supposed "rival" who only appeared once in a blue moon after the first half of the manga, and even the hinted at love interest were only around for what seemed like two or three chapters in the entire series! It just seems odd that the author would create all these little things; a rivalry with a girl from her childhood, problems with her parents, especially her mother, and even a slight attraction to a guy and then never address those things! Seriously though what happened to that guy? Wasn't there some sort of spark? Sure I thought the whole affair was creepy as all hell but that doesn't mean that he couldn't have, oh, I don't know, appeared in more than three chapters?? I just-why does he even exist?! Then there is Subaru herself. I understand what she's been through and that she's young and doesn't know how to cope, I also understand that she's afraid to get close to anybody because she's afraid of losing them, but I can't help but feel like I don't care at all for her character! I was expecting her behavior, in fact, it was half the reason I wanted to read the manga! Yet for some reason she just kept grating on my nerves with every single one of her actions. I wanted to like her, so much so that I kept plowing through the manga in the hopes that maybe she would change, but she was completely static throughout! I felt like she hadn't really learned anything after everything she went through, yes she improved as a dancer, but she never improved as a person. She has one little falling out with her love interest, an extremely random one at that, and she immediately decides to abandon the people who had been depending on her for months! What the hell!? Wherever she went she was the star of the show, the only one who mattered. Maybe it wouldn't have been as bad as it was if the other characters could survive without her but it was made blatantly obvious that nobody could do a thing without her. If it wasn't because of Subaru's past then she would be nothing more than a boring invincible hero. She's a rebellious teenager, because her past is so sad, and therefore it's ok for her to make irrational decisions! You know what, author? It is not ok! Subaru is coming off as a selfish brat instead of as a sympathetic character all because there is no growth! I can buy her sadness, I can. I can buy her selfishness and her inability to trust, but I can't buy that any progress she might have made, as little as it was, was all undone by something so stupid as a last minute hook-up! It was all just a gimmick to start the entire drama over in the sequel, and that I cannot forgive. I know that there is a chance that my questions might be answered in the sequel, hell, maybe Subaru actually becomes a decent human being for all I know, but it doesn't change the fact that the other characters are about as memorable and important as a grain of sand on the beach. Overall, no matter how good I thought the other aspects of the manga were, it failed critically when it came to it's characters. Shallow details given here and there cannot make a character come to life and using the main character's emotional state as an excuse does not give the author the right to forget and discard the characters once they have fulfilled their purpose. Why even bother having other characters be 'important' at all if they're just going to sit there remarking how amazing Subaru is? There is a way to develop your main character and not forget any of the other characters that helped them along the way. There are plenty of coming-of-age manga and anime out there who handled it superbly like Hikaru no go, Eyeshield 21, Glass Mask, I could go on forever! |

Weirdly enough, "Emma". I mean I really loved it beginning to end, but half of the time it felt like the characters were making these stupid-ass decisions throughout the series... Fairy Tail has been consistently irritating for quite some time now. I don't completely hate it, but holy shit, this latest chapter pretty much sealed the deal. They deus ex machina'd so fucking hard out of the situation they were all in. I just thought it was a super lame way to go about everything. Like, boom, nakama-armor activate x100, invincibility for Fairy Tail! Huzzah. But I know that's kind of the whole gist of the series, so I can't bash it too hard. It is pissing me off, though. Bleach was getting to the level of pissing me off for a while, too... But it's gotten a bit better in my opinion over the last several chapters. MoeGalacticHero said: Oh yeah. xxxHolic, the ending was rushed and incredibly depressing. I mean, this is all just my personal opinion, but it seemed to me like Kimihiro basically disregarded the feelings of everyone who cared about him in the end. I understand why it ended in the circumstances it did, but the relationship between Doumeki and Kimihiro was depressing and disappointing. The manga seemed to stagnate after a certain point, it was more than apparent that CLAMP was burnt out in regards the the series, but the last stretch of the manga was nothing but heartbreakingly disappointing. I found it to be worse of an ending than Tokyo Babylon. (I'd also like to note that I am aware that xxxHolic Rei is publishing right now, but it has yet to do anything to change how I feel about the series.) |

Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaete mo Omaera ga Warui I have read the first 30 chapters and it pisses me off to see that the MC hasn't changed a bit, I haven't seen any significant development which will help her acheive her goal. She's just the same girl she was from chapter 1. The whole manga has just been dragging from the first 30 chapters. She still commits the same mistakes as she did in the earlier chapters. I see no improvement at all. Mod Edit: Added spoiler tags; please hide plot details. |
