wow what a ending :(

first off, the battle with the hunter was ace. was surprised on how Kougami used Yuki as bait for him to trick him. never knew he was inside of the barrel!!

he's even hallucinating he's battle during his world war 2 days. glad he got blown the fuck off. hated the son of a bitch.

seems this arena was used after all in a game of death.

glad Masaoka head butted Kougami like that, but he should have followed Akane instead of wasting time.

and wow that bastard Makishima!!! it seems all of the people around him are just toys for him to use. wtf he's hue doesn't get cloudy despite already performing such a crime in front of the dominator?

and yes i already knew that this is one of the sybil's weakness. if someone were to hack the system or to bypass it then the purpose of it is pretty much useless as hell.

i do agree with this bastard Makishima that people shouldn't rely on such a system when deciding something in life. since Akane failed to shoot him and decide on her own she killed Yuki in front of her as punishment for disappointing him.

though i don't blame Akane for not being able to shoot, first off she's not really used to using this kind of gun(unless she change to Suou from Darker Than Black), especially while holding the dominator. and she probably might have hit her friend as well due to how the pellets can scatter so much.

i do wonder why Makishima's Hue won't go up no matter what he does??

and Yuki!!! T__T man Makshima just killed Yuki in front of Akane just like that. i wonder if Akane's Hue will be cloudy from now on.

what a fucking bastard, i hope Kougami will blow the fucking hell out of this asshole.

wow Gen Urobochi really loves to kill characters as horrifying as possible.
that's why i love his work!!! it's not something you would see from other creators etc.

i can't wait for the next episode!. Makishima will pay for this

"How does it feel to have someone die because of your own incompetency?"

FFFFUUCK. I do feel bad for Akane, but i fucking hate her at the same time. She has seen enough evidence of the Sibyl system being flawed to make the judgement that she should shoot Shougo. If she did not, Yuki would die and Shougo would get away. If she did, Yuki *might* die, and Shougo would die. But i suppose it does fit with her character, however much i may despise it.

People have said that it would have made her Psycho-Pass cloudy, but remember that heavy stress can also cause cloudiness, and there isn't much more stressful on a person then seeing your friend having her throat slit, and knowing it's your fault.

Beginning of the episode was badass, nice to see Shinya blow up both the second dog and Cyborg dude. I do get the feeling that once Shinya is confronted with a similar situation as Akane, he's not going to make the same mistake. And he can beat him to death with his fists if he needs to.

God, that knife execution scene was so twisted and disturbing... I was crawling in my chair trying not to see. I don't know why, seeing gore doesn't really bother me, but seeing someone helpless, waiting for her inevitable death, it's such a pain. Akane failed so much there, I don't know how she'll be able to overcome guilt. Kougami became an executor because he got implicated too much emotionaly in a case, will the same fate happen to Akane?

Kougami pulled some nice trick there to trap that hunter.

I said before that the Sybille system was so flawed, but now, I think it's the apogee. I mean, come on, the more the scene was advancing, the more his psycho-pass was Makishima was regressing. The only way they can fight that guy is with the old methode I guess.

Well that was an intense ending, also disturbing as well. Was kinda cringing while watching it, thinking how defective their ranking system is... Sigh. I guess if she shot the gun, both of them would be dead since it's a shotgun. Must have been so hard for Akane to watch her friend getting tortured and killed infront of her eyes. Plus it showed how unprepared she is since they are hired based on their score and there is no training given to recruits.

So the ending song finally makes sense... all fairy tails are dead. Simply put: reality was presented to Akane that not everything is as simple as it looks.

And dam' that person must be the most hated ever. I am really sad that Akane's friend had to die ;-;.

I have a feeling that Akane is similar to this guy that is the Dominator will show her clean.. while she isn't really.

Ah, I so enjoyed this episode! So intense! Even more intense than the previous one ( loved when Ginzo-san was a little shaken by the old man, it was about time someone made him shut up -.- even though he is not such a bad guy, he should remember he is a human being -oh, wait, the new system does not by any chance imply that people should act as full of flaws human beings, au contraire... self control is the key word -in order to survive in such a new, refreshing, frightening world).

Anyhow, this episode was surely intense. My favourite up till now. I have to say the Makishima guy (white... pure guy, what was that all about? nice line though!) is a very nice character. I wonder what's that all about, about him being able of actually avoiding the Dominator's tough check. Oh, I supposed the time would come when their little machines would fail to do their job properly, but it still was weird: just before killing Yuki-chan, Makishima had the Crime Coefficient down to zero. That's way too peculiar! I have some suppositions, one of them being that he might actually be able of controlling his intent, other that he doesn't really have criminal intent, but rather his ”intent” is quite different and there is some fucked-up biological wire in his head that doesn't connects where it usually does. Actually, I do think he's a little psycho. There sure is a mistake out there: something is wrong, the system -as we all know it- can be easily drawn out as being wrong, but what's that, how is it possible that Mikishima can avoid it? I am soooo curious to find out about it! can't wait for the new episode -as a matter of fact, I'm just on my way to each it. Good lord, shouldn't have discovered this anime at the end of the semester when I'm actually supposed to study for upcoming exams *takes a deep breathe*

About Akane... ah, I felt a little sorry for her, also angry. I wanted her to show more self-control, but I think my expectations were too high and clearly not in concordance with reality. She wouldn't be able to have excellent self-control by now because she hasn't yet faced any real situation in which she had to act upon those premises. Anyhow, I have hopes for her in the future: will she turn out to be an Enforcer, or is she going to maintain her ...cloud... as white as Makishima, but not on the same premises? Really curious here.
Just one thing, though : it is true that she was truly shaken by the fact that the Dominator didn't work correctly on Makishima (as we all were, in the end), but it is also true that she isn't the one who'd actually sustain that the system is as good as it can be (she clearly had some doubts in previous episodes, not listening to what Inspector Ginzo was saying and wanting to think and experience circumstances by herself... therefore, I might have thought she'd react surprised, but now as shocked as this.
Goddamn, I am so curious about what's going to happen next.

I also liked the way the old man treated her. He is certainly a kind fellow, with a lot of experience and probably doesn't want Akane to become one of them - so he's taking good care of her. But Kougami seems to do quite the same thing in his own way.

Kougami! Oh, he was just great in this episode. But he is aways great. His killer intent does frighten me, as a matter of fact (and I surely like it ; can't wait for him to meet with Makishima, face to face, eyes to eyes - I wonder how cool it would actually be :3
anyway, he's a strong fellow, an interesting fellow, but now I am more interested in Makishima and Akane.

Also, the scene with Yuki getting killed was really intense and very well made. I really enjoyed it.

now, now, let's watch the next episode!

Kougami is badass. Although he was injured, he managed to made his way out and to kill the old hunter guy instantly, with the help of Yuki(it's a BIG advantage if you're a female). But unfortunately, Ko lose his consciousness, and our another badass antagonist, Makishima, came to get his victim.

So the cool old guy performed first aid to Kougami, while our heroine, Akane, was chasing Makishima. Too bad the Sibyll System did not find him to be a target, he's a healthy guy after all despite being a criminal. And wow, he was not affected to the bullets. Basically, this guy is not a human, or maybe just a "superhuman". So in the end, he sliced Yuki's throat - in front of Akane. Well, you can't blame the inspector. It was really impossible to defeat that guy at that time.

Of course, Akane was having a trauma. She's helpless, watching her friend died. But Kougami, with injuries in his body, comforted her. How sweet...

The OST...

Awesome episode, by the way.

Best episode so far..

Now that's a villain.. He's actually the flaw of the Sibyl system in terms of his biological nature and how he uses the logic of Psycho-pass.. He doesn't have any motive to kill that can be judged by the Dominator unlike other criminals (stress, pleasure, hatred etc.). It's up to them how to crack Makishima..

I'm aware Gen Urobochi is the writer of the series (that's why I watched this)
but still I'm expecting for Yuki to be saved there.. Ugh.. I'll never learn.. =,=

Ep.11...How can i talk about one of my favourite ep. of PP without looking like a Makishima Shougo fanboy?

This is the moment where everything starts to connect, as we met the mastermind behind the crimes both on net and real world. And what a way to introduce a character. Yeah, we knoe Shougo from prev. episodes, as we managed to see him with Oryo Rikako and when akane's friend died, but here is when we finally meet him, when we see what kind of mind he has...And what a mind, oh my god.

His voice, his eyes, the way he looks at Akane while talking and right before cutting Yuki's throat...You know he´s not mad like other criminals, no. He knows what he does and why he does it, and he enjoys every f*cing second of it...

With the real introduction of Makishima Shougo, Psycho-Pass enters into a new level of epicness, and we are on the half of the show, so...What will the future be keeping for us? Only time will answer this.

1. The way those guns talk in the english dub version gives me chills

2. Opera music played in a twisted survival game makes it even more twisted

3. the way makishima toys with his victims shakes me, especially when he cut yuki's throat.

4. makishima's the real deal. he's not ur half-assed villian who gets defeated easily. he really gets in ur head

I think Akane's actions make sense. She was trained to believe that Sybil makes the correct judgements. No one has encountered a person like Makishima, who can't be judged by the Dominators. Most inspectors wouldn't know what to do. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if she would have been reprimanded for shooting Makishima with a shotgun when his Psycho Pass was 0. The government probably would have thrown her under the bus for it, even though he was clearly a villain.

But I felt so bad for Yuki.

Powerful episode.

Makashima exposes the flaws of the Sybil system in a most cruel and brutal manner. His CCO was decreasing steadily until the point when he was about to slit her throat and it went to 0. He must be some kind of perfect psychopath. We don't know how exactly the Dominators work out the crime coefficient - is it some form of advanced lie detector test? In that case someone who commits a crime but feels 100% at ease while doing it would register a 0.

Makashima is right now my favourite character not just of this series but in any anime I've seen thus far. Yes he's a "sick bastard who should die" but in one epic moment he ridiculed the Sibyl system that is the very foundation of the police force. I can't wait to see more of him.

I feel for Akane that must have seriously messed her up :/

Thank god there are some people defending Akane in this topic. I think she's quite the realistic character. Everyone saying she's dumb or stupid or whatever has completed disregarded her circumstances. She has been living in a world where decision-making is completely unneeded. Now she had the lives of two people in her hands and the authority which had always made all decisions for her telling her not to shoot. Of course she was confused. She had also never yielded a shotgun because, well... no one uses them in that day and age!
But... thank god some people understand that.

Indeed. I feel as if every person expects characters to suddenly turn into badass wonderwomen or supermen when they are put in such situation as Akane. She was raised into Sibyl world. Everything was peaceful, normal, ordinary and easy in her life and suddenly she was put in a crazy situation and all came crashing down for her! She's a rookie too. A character like her must be already developed from the start? And it's not like the inspectors are brainless idiots. The chairwoman said they need the ability to think and judge for themselves, if i remember correctly. And how the police
? With help from Sibyl? No. With evidences, thinking. In this view, the Enforcers are really valuable and precious - they have nothing to lose and can go down into the depths of the human psyche in order to catch criminals. Inspectors and Enforcers are a team.

And about those who says that Makishima shows how useless and flawed the system is - DREAM ON! He is just a single case! The people like him are rare, they can be caught, just like
. And if Makishima did not met a hacker like Choe, it would have been really difficult for him to commit all those crimes and entertain himself with whatever toy he finds amusing enough. It's thanks to a criminally asymptomatic person+hacker team that Makishima managed to cause all this.

OMG, THAT WAS SO INTENSE.
Makishima's crime coefficient keeps going down everytime Akane points the Dominator at him. Can it ever be a negative. It even reached 0 when he was about to kill yuki.
When Makishima slit Yuki's throat OMG. Had to cringe ._.

I thought that Dominator was a piece of junk from the beginning. I love it when I'm right LOL. WAY too slow and now completely useless on those who can control their CCs. Hell, Kogami almost got his ass shredded by that dog drone. What would have happened if their was someone else in the wings? That last scene was a bit farfetched, sorry. She's supposedly an FBI equivalent. No idiot shoots a DB shotgun with one hand, esp when lives are on the line. Even if she'd ballpark aimed both would have taken lead. That was her only option though, so why not.

Funny how they heard her scream but not the blast of that f'ing canon LOL.

Makishima killing Yuki... As far as Akane not dropping the useless Dominator... She has grown up in a society where she never needed to consider such life and death decisions. Her understandable indecisiveness is nicely shown by her reluctance to drop the Dominator and actually AIM the shotgun... killing someone is not a decision she can make.

That said, she could have aimed at Yuki. I would assume she would be worthy of paralizer.... "don't" aim carefully and problem solved.

I really hope that what happened this episode serves as a catalyst for some massive changes in Akane's character. As thus far she has been one of the most useless protagonists I've ever seen. Can someone name one single thing she's done upto this point? Literally halfway through the series and she's done absolutely nothing.

Having no option to stun certain criminals (due to their high number thingy) is one of the most ham fisted and forced plot devices I've ever seen. "What's that?....the leader of this criminal organization could answer all of our questions but because his number is too high our only option is to kill him and thus never have the opportunity to question or interrogate him?....sounds perfect me"........said no one ever.

This episode was the best yet! It's getting more and more interesting as it goes on. I thought the entire anime would just be mystery after mystery, but now they're being tied into one plotline. Brings up the purist argument that no matter how seemingly perfect a system is, there'll always be flaws, dictating life and death, blah blah.

Up until this point I think Akane more or less relied on the system to kill people, which is why she froze when she was faced with the idea of doing it herself.. brings back that scene with Kogami in the practice room saying "I kill people, not the system"! Really good ^^

I also love how it's not just blood for the sake of blood like Elfen Lied, this anime is unafraid to have characters meet grisly ends but doesn't do it just for shock value. Love that there's 21 episodes ^^

Just started watching this show. Akane has officially become the worst most disgusting character of the season. Everybody is blaming Makishima but he literally gave her every opportunity possible to kill him, and instead she picked the judgment of the Sibyl system and the dominator over her friend...plain and simple. All she had to do was drop the dominator and aim the shotgun and she would've gotten Makishima with minimal damage to Yuki, but no. Yuki died because of Akane, there is no other way to argue it.

No matter what else happens when I watch the rest of this show, Akane will never be able to do anything to redeem herself from her incompetence this episode. Never in my life have I ever seen a character so pitiful that they don't even try to save their friends.

Everything kinda happen as I expected, but I kinda wish it didn't. Akane somehow managed to go above and beyond her episode 1-2 level of annoyance.

Pleasantly (?) surprised they went through with the friend death. I've seen too many shows where there's a last save.

I never liked Akane very much from the start, but god damn. I don't care what kind of defense people have for her, if she's not a dumb bitch, she's fucking mindless coward.

You think she can't kill? Hell yes she can. She was itching for the dominator to tell her it's okay to blast that dude's brain off, but it didn't give her what she wanted. She at least picked up the gun, but didn't really aim the rifle. What's the deal with the dual-wielding, chickie? You can barely aim with one gun. (P.S. It's not a shotgun guys. It's a hunting riffle, the same one the hunter dude used. There's a pretty good accuracy. You think Makishima pulled that gun out of his ass? So no, Akane was not afraid of hitting her friend.) You know why she couldn't do it? Cause she couldn't decide for herself without the aid of an external force saying it's okay.

And that's the point that Makishima was trying to make. People like him are clearly in the wrong, but because of the reliance of Sibyl system, he will never be caught because the agents of the system are unable to make their own judgments and shoulder the consequences by themselves. Look up "diffusion of responsibility." It's a real thing. (From the start or the series, I had a feeling sociopaths would completely slip the radar.)

At least this is probably Akane's peak for making me rage, I hope. Now, I'm predicting a next episode of her being emo and getting reassured by everyone who thinks she can do no wrong. I hope I'm wrong.

Akane could have told him that she wouldn't do it for some reason. Then while Makashima shuts his eyes before slitting her Yuki's throat in that episode, she could have used the shotgun to blow his head off without having the Dominator in hand - dropping it somehow without letting him know.

Damn man...Yuki shouldn't have died. I wish Akane had really just dropped the Dominator at that point and just used the shotgun. I can understand why she did what she did though. Her belief in the Sybil System was betrayed and she was having alot of trouble dealing with that in addition to panicing due to the situation.

Still kind of pisses me off though. Should of just shot the dude.

So Yuki got the Sweeney Todd ending.

I dont like Makishima's character. He is just another antagonist with a shallow motive.

Tsunemori could have just pointed to Funahara to unlock that "weapon", because her psycho pass would have been very high at that time, then shoot Makishima. But no, This anime likes to sometimes not use logic, even in detective kind of anime. Am I wrong?

Yeah, because, assuming Yuki's crime coefficient is high enough, Akane was in a situation where she can think clearly and come up with this plan.

Not to mention that it wouldn't work anyway since it was never shown that the Dominator remains unlocked long enough to carefully target someone else..
