Doesn't look mentally sick to me, not even near.

Obviously she's the first one to understand that all that stuff is just the product of her imagination but even so, what of it?
Dream, imagination and hope; she's a girl that rather abide by these than by some social conformist rules. She's the embodiment of the idea of "Keeping your child heart" and isn't washed by society's standards.
Imagination is real, it's not something that you can touch or feel with your sense but it's the product of your wish and desire no matter how many form it takes.
Why would it weird to dream? Why should that be even embarassing? Everyone imagine impossible scenario in their head but once it's acted in real life it's wrong?

That girl is awesome and she got guts. I would be too much embarassed to do what she's doing but I would lie if I said that I didn't envie her being fully honest with herself like that.

Okay, not really, it looks nice and the girl's weirdness is very enjoyable. This is how Haruhi should've been. The whole thing about Haruhi series is about how much of a weirdo she is, when she is not weird in the slightest, just energetic and selfish. THIS girl is weird. Again, enjoyably so.

Eh... The whole idea was keeping Haruhi's delusions in check, and not letting her realize just what she was capable of. Allow Haruhi to get wrapped up in a Rikka-like fantasy and she wouldn't be weird - she'd actually have those powers, would actually be battling some shadowy agency, and the series would take quite a different direction...

I agree, it even says it in her character description.
"The main heroine, she made a contract with Togashi Yuuta. She is an active Chuunibyou, who still has the syndrome."

Something like this doesn't make Rikka stupid, it just makes her behavior unusual. I have yet to find anything about her that demeans her intelligence.

KyoAni showing off in the animation department...beautiful as always.

Looks funny enough, though it seems they will keep to a realistic setting which is a pity in my opinion. 4/5.

Playing with words, but the god complex isn't a retardation. Kyoani loves this kind of characters. I mean moe and those girls aren't about to be smart. They still have some relatively much fans, so they may don't mind this madness.

All other studio, that's how you create moe!

Cute, funny, warm AND adorable. This show made me giggle a lot, best quality moe, indeed. As expected from KyoAni.

p.s despite of some negative impressions on moe, but I believe people should treat bad moe as a bad moe, and good moe as a good moe. And this is a good example, personally much better than K-ON for me. (some romances help a lot on raising this bar)

rikka has a certain moe to her. not sure which moe.

Primarily immaturity moe, the show makes a clear comparison between how the male lead acted when he started middle school and how she does when starting high school. Being three years behind may not sound much, but they're at an age where rapid change is expected. In real life, it'd be serious enough that you'd at least expect a psychologist involved. I won't call her retarded, that word has been abused as an insult, but you know what I mean.

There is also the lack of social skill required for someone to act out such fantasies in public. A different type of moe, but they combine well. So you have all the social inferiority characteristics needed for certain viewers to gush over her.

It is a fun anime, just the first episode i'd rate an 8/10.

I'd say I probably was and still am quite a bit chuu ni byou but, I have never acted nor have I ever seen anyone act anything like Rikka or Yuuta. If I did I would think they were either crazy or trolling me.

I find the whole Dark Flame Master thing seriously funny though, the idea is like super chuu ni byou, its like combining Dante from DMC with emo style.

Anywho, I'm liking it so far. Very quirky and the art and characters are nice so far. I wonder how the whole 'romance' part of this series is going to pan out, because we all know Rikka is going to be the main girl.

That OP hurt my eyes. I think it's the first one in a while that i'm going to skip.

Entertaining, but it gave me the impression that this series is just going to be for the sake of moe.
Lead male is funny, but the girl is going to irritate me at one point. Otherwise good episode. If the rest of the series is like this, it's going to be pretty damn entertaining.

Anyone else had this syndrome? I think i did, lol. I told everyone a friend of mine and i were witches who knew how to do spells. I had voodoo dolls with me and everything.
Everyone believed me, lol.

Thank goodness i wasn't as extreme as our male lead. The majority of my classmates have known me since kindergarten.

I don't care if this was done by KyoAni or not. They got the money, so of course they'll animate it well. But what about the contents?

Well, they're not bad this time. Ep was pretty funny and I liked the way the relationship between the 2 main characters developed this ep.
After first ep, this seems more interesting to me than Hyouka.

No not at all. The girl is the example of girls that are mentally problematic by imagining things and making them into society as much real as she can. Look at all her hysteria and people freaking out on her.

She does not dream but projects stuff into reality and the anime is showing that as well as part of what the disease does perceived by victim itself.

No the girl is RETARDED for acting like that in society. People like her are avoided because they can see she is mentally not well.

There is nothing wrong with what she does except when it makes problems in society and disturbs her life. Which does IMO.

That being said YOU pointed out to a normal person's thinking. BIG MISTAKE! She is not normal like that. Her imagination is though of as being real and another person with the same disease might also think it's real hence why Yuuta sees it as real.

Oh honestly. Dude, I think you are taking this far too seriously. This is a lighthearted comedy for crying out loud! It's not likely to showcase something as serious as a disease like that.

Where did it once say that she had some disease? It didn't. All we've been hearing is about this 8th Grade Syndrome, which is the whole point of the show. If it's the whole point of the show, wouldn't it make sense that she has it?

It's a made up syndrome anyways, just for this series. It's just something these kids come up with because they're bored. It's kinda like Avatar Withdrawal Syndrome. It's not a disease, just a fun little thing to explain their obsession.

We've only seen 1 episode so far, I don't think it's wise to assume something so bold just yet. We can't be sure of whether she's acting like this on purpose or not. For all we know she could be just pretending to act like this and having fun with it. From what I've seen it does seem that way. And Kuroneko was the same way, but we know she was doing it for fun as well. I don't see how this situation is that different.

Btw, can't stop relating these two...Maybe because I didn't really remember Rinka's name, but when I tried recalling it, I had a mistake and thought it was Nobutani Rinka~ Where did I hear Nobutani anyway... -_-
