| I never thought the MAL community would be so judgmental.. Everyone seems to notice how one non-stereotypical scene is, and bash the entire episode in general. Some people, really. I dread for those who have grown up only to see what it portrayed as ''homophobic'' and ''gay'' and take it negatively, especially in an anime. Honestly. Regardless, i have really have high hopes for this series and hope to see some great expansion in the story and it continues. Looking forward to the next! |

| The show did give off awkward vibes indeed, the main character seems pretty awkward to me just because he told the guy he looked like a injured girl and on top of that he said he didn't know his true meaning for helping him. That's enough to tell me oh gawd, we will find out the truth later. Honestly he seems like a strange individual to me o.o |

| I heard the romance would be between Shion and that girl...what's her name...not a spoiler though, I'm not sure myself. And I'm personally against it. Somehow I don't really like that girl..wonder why..? -.- And about Shion and Nezumi's relationship, I found it very interesting. It's certainly not Yaoi, but probably implied shounen-ai like Saiyuki? The manga's still on-going so don't assume too much. Some of you said that this episode's slow-paced? For me it's normal, dunno. For those who wanna drop it, just drop it. | Last season I had 5 animes to watch. This season I have less but my fav is No.6 >w< |
| I'm finding this thread hilarious, because if the main characters were girls, I highly doubt anyone would be calling it yuri. Anyway, I feel like there wasn't enough in this episode for me to know if I'm really interested or not. The setting got my attention, but the lack of hints about the plot left me feeling bored. Will see if it picks up a bit in a couple of episodes. |

| I believe people are being a little silly claiming it instantly shounen-ai after one episode. On the whole I enjoyed it, mysterious and interesting albeit slightly rushed. Hopefully more hints concerning the plot will be made clear so I'm looking forward to the next episode! |

| I quite liked this first episode. So far I think this is my favourite of the season. And for goodness sake, the manga is shoujo so I highly doubt the anime will turn out to be shounen-ai and it most certainly isn't going to be yaoi. If anything they seem to have toned down the so-called "gay undertones" for the anime. |

| so a new Yaoi pairing has made their appearance - Shion x Mouse. I just hope this anime won't turn into a completely yaoi show (FOR SURE NO) and i hope it will be a good "action-kind" anime instead |

| I honestly thought I was watching a sci-fi yaoi near the end. notsureifsrs said: This show is not shounen-ai. The romance (albeit slow) is between him and his childhood friend. Can two guys be really close bros and have everyone NOT calling it gay? I wouldn't even give a shit if it was gay. But people spouting shit about two guys being close friends makes themselves sound really insecure. True, true. I guess I was jumping the boat there.This just shows that they're going to have a very close friendship. Overall good intro....but I thought the 4 year skip was going to happen in this episode. Guess it'll have it in the next episode. |

| Weak start, I thought. I guess I was hoping for a little more action or something, not sure. Definitely not BL, though I can see why some panicky or sensationalist people might have jumped to that conclusion. Definitely interesting though, will be watching with high hopes. 4/5 |

| I don't think this show is shounen-ai. Yes maybe theres two guys who's close to each other but I don't think its yaoi/shounen-ai, its more like friendship or close friends. Anyways the episode was okay. Nothing much happened really. Hopefully next episode will be good. |

| If it follows the novel it wont be shounen-ai :> the romance between the childhood friends will progress but slowly. Although this ep 1 felt a bit to the shounen-ai side indeed. |

| I think people should do more research, the manga version was obviously made for girls. Even though you probably wont see any actual sexual interactions, I believe the misunderstandings will only worsen until this is a known fact. From what I see though, the developers that made this doesn't really have any shounen-ai anime in there history. I'll discuss my point of view later when I know Fo Sho... |

| I shouldn't have read the manga just a few weeks before this aired. xD It just made me notice all the instances where the show just jumped from scene to scene without following the manga. I'd like to know why Shion eventually dyes his hair white, gets colored contacts (?), and a funky scar or tattoo or whatever that was. o _o Weirddd. Derp, I kind of liked the episode though, it was pretty easygoing and enjoyable. |

Flower is Hana, Shion is a kind of flower.. he explained that in the show, and it is a fairly unisex name. Nezumi is Rat, I know it can mean mouse but in this case given his street rat image I think it's fairly obviously Rat. You people are reading FAR too much into the hand holding. If these were girls it'd be a vastly different interpretation for that. People on this site are so dumb sometimes. |

| honestly the ed was pretty good though....the artist has good taste in clothing when it came to rat. Close to something i would wear. |

| Strange trivia : the introduction is almost identical to the sewers' sequences in Jin-Roh. After that, I found the world and atmosphere to be pretty well-developped and the animation really good but the script and characters still feel extremely weird for the moment, and the direction perfectly average. Seeing Bones has once again given a scifi anime to a new director, it could really well end up being another failed attempt at renewing the genre like The Mars Daybreak or Xam'd. Well, whatever, we'll see but I'm not too optimistic. |

| I have a feeling this might end up similarly to Fractale because of the length. The setting is cyberpunk (Ergo Proxy, Texhnolyze, Ghost in the Shell) but seems lighthearted because of the animation style and the generic main lead. Whether it gets a shounen-ai tag or not, it shouldn't matter. They look like friends or even brothers because of the OP. So far, I don't see any possibility for romance between Neizumi and Shion. Their holding hands was about the "coldness" of Neizumi's life in the correctional facility. Shion is one of the few people who showed him some hospitality. Their friendly interaction in this episode supports the OP. |
