1. Clannad 2. Angel Beats 3. Air 4. Kanon (2006) Kanon was the only one that didn't leave me in tears. I don't know why people like it. xD; Personally, it was the worst of their animes. I saw it about.. a year and a half ago? Not sure. But I was left unimpressed. Clannad was definitely the masterpiece here. Ever notice how they follow seasons? Air was summer, Kanon was winter. Clannad was spring, because of the cherry blossoms. I guess that means Angel Beats was fall? |

Fall was actually represented by the game "One: Kagayaku Kisetsu e", which Key's founding members made while still with the company, Tactics. It was made into an OVA in 2001 by KSS |

Sometimes Kanon and Clannad switch places as my favorite.. I love both dearly. 1. Clannad (As a whole, including AS) 2. Kanon 3. Air Air was okay, I just wish they could've done more with the characters. Kano and Minagi were just kinda there...I didn't really feel for them. :/ I like Kanon more than the first season of Clannad, but with After Story I'd prefer Clannad. :3 I just watched the first episode of Angel Beats! last night..I'm not that interested..but I think I'll conitinue watching it anyway. |

Clannad i loved, but it made me cry like the biggest cry baby on the planet. Air i watched backwards by mistake and didn't get much of it but i still liked it. Kanon i loved even with the characters started dying/ vanishing ect. Angel Beats had the same effect as Clannad But the story at the end of all of these animes were well constructed in their own way |

1. Clannad (both seasons) 2. Kanon 3. Angel beats 4. Air Well.. Love them al, but I'm not that much into Air.. The story was kinda weird and slow.. Clannad ofc is epic. Without a word. Kanon.. I love characters and climate in it.. as the all story.. And I was so suprised when Angel Beats turned out to be something soo good. I cried at all of them xd |

Clannad was definitely the masterpiece here. I have to be honest with my feelings and say that some of the negative things said about Kanon 2006 are unnerving and how it is so underappreciated. I liked it because it did move me to tears when there were sad moments and it made me smile and laugh when there were happy moments, like Shiori's bithday party. How can anyone not be moved to tears when Nayuki's mother's life was on the line and Nayuki was in a situation where she could lose her, or for the others who have gone through painful situations? As far as how I would rank the Key series that have been adapted into anime is this... 1.Kanon 2006 I truly loved this series out of all and truly deserving as a masterpiece is that I liked how the happy moments balanced out with the sad ones. The cast of characters were excellent and the five main heroines were all endearing, although Nayuki ranks as my favorite heroine of the series. Character relationships were also another key factor I loved in Kanon, from the bonds between family to those who are close friends and also Yuuichi Aizawa's own personal relationships between the five heroines. There was also a mysterious nature within the series that I liked, especially surroundiing Ayu and even Makoto herself. I loved the strength of the characters, such as Shiori being able to overcome her illness and rebuild a relationship with her older sister Kaori and Nayuki being able to rebound from her mental trauma over the stress she felt from her past concerning the snow bunny she made for Yuuichi that he sullied plus not knowing what her mother's fate would be. The ending was also good, as the real Ayu was able to recover from her 7-year-long coma and Yuuichi being able to see those close to him again, such as Mai and Shiori and having a better bond with Nayuki, plus her mother's recovery. All in all, Kanon made me smile, laugh, and cry and left me wanting more in the form of a continuing story. 2.Air-Like Kanon 2006, I loved this series as well although it could've been longer to develop the story better. 3.Clannad-Tomoyo/Kyou OVA's-Refreshing takes on the Clannad series with what could of been if Tomoya chose Tomoyo or Kyou, pairings I like better than Tomoya with Nagisa. Clannad as a whole would've been worthy as a masterpiece if Tomoya had been either with Tomoyo or Kyou. 4.Clannad/AS- I don't think as a whole this series is masterpiece worthy, considering it goes the Nagisa route. To me, certain things felt forced on emotionally by the time she passed away in AS, followed on by Ushio's death later. I also didn't like the deus ex machina ending AS had, it felt unnatural. Tomoya was a mess of a character after Nagisa died, it appeared he rather live in the past and not move forward and try to be the best father he could be for Ushio. It would've been better if Ushio herself had lived and Tomoya moved on and gotten together with Kyou, who herself had become close to Ushio. Kyou would've healed Tomoya's heart and helped him move forward. I wasn't much into Fuko either and she would served better as a side character instead of the five main heroines and Ryou would've been a better choice for one of the five. The antics of Youhei Sunohara wasn't my cup of tea either. As I stated above, Clannad as a whole, I would've enjoyed it better if the series had gone with either the Tomoyo or Kyou route. 5.Angel Beats-Wasn't really interested in watching this one. Kanon 2006 FTW! |

I wish other Key series would get their opportunity to shine since Clannad and Kanon were, in the end, too similar in mood. And yes, Sunohara sucked as a sidekick, but Tomoya was a sad sack of a main character. Heck, the anime made him nicer since he was a total punk in the game.Lulu-chama said: 1. Clannad 2. I saw from previous posts that you'd like to see Little Busters adapted into an anime, I'd certainly would like to see Little Busters made into an anime myself. The characters of the series look to be very interesting and I'd watch it. |

Clannad as a whole would've been worthy as a masterpiece if Tomoya had been either A good point which I hope you don't mind me expanding on a bit (although I wonder about masterpiece personally). Those two pairings always made more sense to me than the main one . I mean it seems like Tomoya and Kyou have a very good repertoire in terms of their conservation its barely ever dull although that doesn't mean that they're never awkward (these awkward conservations appear a lot less compared to the other heroines though). The reason for Kyou's affection also seems to make more sense after all in their second year of High School they were in the same class and this strikes me as a more convincing reason for her affection than say childhood friend or a destined encounter. Both of the characters have a mutual understanding and respect for each other which was gained from the length of their relationship beforehand and the assumed closeness of it. Similarly with Tomoyo its quite obvious from the flow of their conversations how comfortable they are with each other and how much they enjoy each others company. This pairing conjures up an image of 'kindred spirits' which describes the two character's relationship quite well. They've had similar experiences the main ones being their broken families and their isolation from society this allows the two characters to have a deeper understanding of each other and thus are a more convincing couple whose affection actually seems justified. |

Clannad. While the first season wasn't bad either, the second just blew the helluva outta just about every anime out there. Tharand said: tuhi009 said: the best? Clannad season 1 and 2 of course!! I chose Angel Beats! Clannad and Angel beats come close~ but my vote goes out to angel beats! A big thing that makes me decide if I like the anime or not is if I like how the characters look, both anime I loved the how the characters looked, but I was leaning a bit more towards the characters in angel beats! secondly the lighting/effects in both were really good it set the mood, thirdly the music this is where angel beats got my vote, I absolutely loved the music from Girls DeMo so my vote goes out too Angel Beats! hooraah! bring on season 2! :P |

Well, for me it's: #1 Kanon (2006) - Its cosy atmosphere and moe levels are incredible enough for it to be my favorite of the lot #2 CLANNAD - Impeccable in every aspect, but Fuko and Nagisa don't quite match up to Ayu-chan #3 AIR - Though chronologically it came out first, it felt a tad too much like a lesser copy of the afore mentioned (for me). Side characters had no real development but Misuzu's story was nice and unique and I liked it a lot. #4 Angel Beats - Ain't even gonna waste my breath (fingers) here; it's a decent (looking) anime but it doesn't come close to works of Key x KyoAni |
