Enjoyed it. Never played Vesperia since I don't have a xbox and there isn't a ps3 release (yet) but I've played other tales series so some of the terminology i didn't get in the first place but understood easily.

Lulz @ the captain when he said he'd take the larger ones and yuri's like "they're both the same height".

This was just what I wanted to see. The game was a.m.a.z.i.n.g. and this is the perfect treat right after it. I didn't explain everything but it does explain a lot, serving as a prequel to the game. Now all I want to know is what exactly Flynn's father did to make himself a hero like he did. Maybe later on down the road, perhaps?

When I saw the twins for the first time, I thought they were identical. Not until the captain actually "mentioned it" did I realized one had a bigger chest than the other. lol

Oh and wasn't Repede adorable? I felt just as bad as Yuri did when Repede began to wait for his father at the gates.. D': Sad moments.. D'x Hmm.. I was also surprised at how much blood was shown. I didn't watch any of the other Tales series, but I did play the games (save for the one on the Wii) and there wasn't any blood in any of them. D: So the amount of detail they put into this one was definitely eye-opening.

If you haven't played the game, your missing out on an E.P.I.C. sequel. Liek, seriously. Xbox has better JRPGs. Way better.. (But that's a different topic.)

Rita ftw!! <3

I totally agree about the heart-wrenching Repede moment when he heads out to wait for his dad to return. That was so sad! He was absolutely adorable, though. Puppy Repede = love! <3

One of the biggest highlights for me was seeing the little girl that Yuri saves carrying a MIEU plushie! How can you go wrong with Mieu? :D

@Paul: about the ToV PS3 version... unless Bandai has a change of heart, they have officially stated that they have absolutely no plans on releasing a N.A. version, unfortunately. I was so heartbroken when I read that. The temptation to buy the Japanese version is high, but it also costs about $80 USD (not to mention the costs of shipping it). *cringe* Bandai blames it on the fact that the ToSymphonia sequel (Wii) didn't sell enough copies. Well, IMHO, if they would actually MARKET their games like the Final Fantasy series did, they'd have no problems! You hardly see or hear anything about the Tales series in stores. *sigh*

Ah well. Their fault for bad marketing. :
I still love the Tales series and will continue fangirl-ing over whatever they do decide to grace us with. <.<

It was a really enjoyable movie. I liked the animation and the characters and they pulled out the story quite well. I wonder whether there will be a sequel to this, but it would be really nice, though I'm not familiar with the game~~

I haven't played the game so I had no clue what to expect, but wow, this was good! It had enough comedy elements along with the action and drama that it was super enjoyable to watch. I really want there to be a sequel, although it probably won't happen. But I can still hope~

Huh, you're right. I just found a couple links that have rumors to what you have stated that I have never seen before. At the same time, I don't know how legit these websites are with their info. According to the link below, there only seems to be rumors about the European release. Also, keep in mind that because they've recorded the lines doesn't mean that Bandai could scrap the whole project on a whim. It's not like companies haven't done that in the past.
http://scrawlfx.com/2010/06/troy-baker-confirms-tales-of-vesperia-ps3-localization-in-video

It must be something that Bandai hasn't officially declared (yet) or as I stated up above, had a change of heart. :) Hopefully E3 will answer/confirm these rumors next week.

I just re-watched the movie again and even though many may not know what's really going on without having played the game, it was still an enjoyable movie. Well paced and full of different aspects that make a movie good. I can see why they used the opening song by Bonnie Pink in the ending credits, but it still doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Even watching the show for the second time, it tickled my tear ducts and was touching. That captain was amazing! I love how he treated his regiment like real people rather than just pawns/soldiers.

As for the movie itself, good one, really good one. Kept me entertained for the full duration of it, and I can't really find anything in particular to complain about.

Now to wait for the European release for the ps3 port of the game >.>

expected more... really?

I hadn't been following the trailers and such so I was really knocked over at how great this was. It had its sappy moments and the story is pretty simple, but they really brought out the characters and used every minute they had. Loved it.

I'm not sure I'm for sequels. idk, I think it would lose its charm if it became part of a series of movies.
I would love movie prequels of Symphonia (about the Kharlan War) or Abyss (Yulia<3) of that quality though.

Anyway, great movie, loved it through and through, despite its few inconsistencies with the game and the fact that it didn't turn out as expected (all the advertisements talked about the theme of justice, but it wasn't really developped - which, in a way, is good, because I didn't really like the way they went about it in the game).
I can't wait to watch it for real!

Very Good movie, but this movie just created a sh*t load of plot holes for the game. It doesn't connect well at all. It's very good if you just look at it as a stand alone movie.

Enjoyed the movie, though something seemed to be lacking about halfway through and on. I guess I was just expecting more scenes with every party member you get in the game, but Judith wasn't even mentioned. I can see why, as that would be an obvious force of plot, but I thought she might've popped up with the blastia going crazy and all. Oh well. At least there was puppy Repede. :D

I loved the scene with Rita though. That was hilarious.

this sucked donkey cock. i don't care about some old guy and twins whose only reason for existing is a boob joke. i don't care about an evil jade palette swap. this movie could have been good; this movie could have been worth it. it could have improved upon later plot points in the game that were covered shoddily. it could have covered the great war and fleshed out duke's, raven's, yeager's, and judith's characters. but no. it didn't. and i wasn't expecting that. but then i saw this movie, and i weep for what could have been.

but if i had to say one thing: at least it didn't have karol.

In the japanese PS3 version of the game, they added a sidequest with Hisca and Chastel to the storyline near the end of the game. Damn you, Japan & Namco-Bandai ;____;

Also, I laughed a little bit when I saw the plothole of Rita already knowing what an Aer Krene is, when in the game she asks Duke because she doesn't know XDDD (proof here, at 7:56): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=950fGYqo30w

Apart from that, the movie gave me what I expected, I liked it and now I feel I understand Flynn better ^^

They should have kept the game cast as Yuri and Flynn. And Repede. I get why they had some cameo from other characters (fanservice lol), but they weren't necessary and created plotholes. I'm sure Rita is not the only Blastia specialist, and that Alexei's not the only one who could have turned Flynn down. Raven's cameo was ok - short, but it was like him. Estelle's was nice too, though some say Flynn shouldn't have known her yet. Anyway, we could have done without.

Not that I particularly care, because when I watch a movie/anime/OVA, I treat it as an alternative retelling of the story, and so don't compare them with the game they're based on.

Anyways, the movie is actually pretty good as a stand-alone. Maybe the actually FIRST GOOD VIDEO GAME-MOVIE ADAPTION ever.

Was pretty good, I loved the game a ton so been waiting ages for this.

Was hard getting used to the voices as first since the 360 version only had the dub. (though I must say it had one of the best dubs I have ever heard) I actually preferred Rita's and Estellise's dub actors... Rita's Japanese one just sounded so annoying and Estellises's was way too weak for her. Just my opinion at least, they weren't a big focus in the movie anyway.

Was nice to see some explanation into Yuri and Flynn's back story though. Why Repeede was so loyal to Yuri, why Flynn is so uptight, where Yuri got his blastia from, etc. I guess they couldn't do anything to complicated story-wise though since it wouldn't work as a prequel to the game :p what they did use though was enjoyable.

That was okay. I thought it would be a bit more exciting and Flynn less annoying. (I mean, really, he was incessantly uptight.) The plot was really boring in the beginning, but the animation and everything that happened at the castle slightly made up for it. Really beautifully flowing scenes~ Never trust someone who looks like Jade and isn't Jade, though. Could they have created a more obvious villain?

All the Yuri badassery was love though.

Also, I was hoping for a Duke appearance... but I knew I would be disappointed. :(

In the scene where Yuri kills Garista, that MUST BE FINE SWORDSMANSHIP! I want to learn from him too. How can I stab someone in the chest, draw out the sword with NO blood on it and no blood splattered out. Woah. That sure is pro. Especially getting no blood on the sword. *end sarcasm*
