Due to the rarity of a good op, I've realy stoped caring about them
Although, If a show realy has a good op, it's a plus for it

A good op can intrigue sb in starting an anime but it can't make you keep watching it if you don't like it.
A Story will always come to it's end. The thing is, will you move on after it's over?

Overall it doesn't but good openings are memorable and puts you in the mood for anime so helps a bit in longer anime. Though for shorts like somewhat 5 minute or less having a 1 minute opening is a drag.

If a show has a really good opening then I don't skip it. If it has a bad opening then I just skip it.

Simple as that for me really. If a show has a really good opening that I love then I usually find it on Youtube just so I can listen to it more.

It's not important, but it is a bonus and can affect the score I give it.

I don't know to say its "important" but considering its possibly the first thing you see before the show actually starts I can see where it would have some influence.

Well its a bonus as you say for an instance if an anime doesn't have a great opening doesn't mean that anime is not good like but when you watch an anime that has a good opening you will remember that anime right after you hear it

The theme songs of a series can lead me to watch a series that I otherwise wouldn't have watched.

Besides, the theme songs set the tone for the series. Or at least, they should. One problem I had with Symphogear, for example, was that its ED was quite dark but the series didn't follow that tone.

So yes, they're extremely important to me.

Not really, since I love Azumanga Daioh and Chunibyou but both opening themes are pretty bleh IMO. However, Kuragehime has a pretty cool one and I listen to it just like I would any other indie song. It's icing on the cake, but when they get it right boy is it great :)

Well i think its not very hard to make good oppening since it used at 12-24ep they can put special effort to it.Song is another topic but if it compatible with intro thats enough mostly.

I don't skip openings and endings, and I often mutter disappointedly when endings get skipped in anime club showings, heh.

An OP/ED I don't like won't make me hate a show, but might make me less inclined to start watching it or make me less enthused about watching it.

An OP/ED I do like, however, increases my engagement with and motivation for watching a show.

If an OP is good, it's good. If it's bad, skip. Of course I prefer it to be good rather than bad but if I'm not digging it I'm not gonna stop watching or something. I feel like an OP defines a show too much (like Death Parade) and people just look at that. Of course it's a good representation of what the show is, but if it's bad it's not the end of the world. I'll just keep watching.

I can think of several "meh" shows with good openings and several good shows with "meh" openings.

I usually skip openings but there have been a few that caught my attention. Good openings definitely help set the tone but aren't too important in my opinion.

Definitely, a good anime opening adds to the anime itself. It's not like I will listen to the opening per episode, but if the opening is good, I will revisit it every time I continue watching where I previously left off in the anime count. Anime like The World God Only Knows, as one example out of many, made the series even better. Because of its overall catchiness.

I skip 1:30 once the op starts, and 1:30 once it ends (if the episode has an after credit scene). If the op/ed are good I wont skip. But 9/10 when I start a new series, i'll listen to the op/ed just to see if i'll like it.

Openings enhance the watching experience. Getting you hyped up for the show and all. Then the actual story enhances the opening. That is the best case scenario.

For example, JoJo. It hypes you up from the get-go, yet is filled with references to later things to happen in the story, which make you notice them in the OP after you see those reveals.

I agree with you. It's not that important, but it would be nice to have a good one. I love listening to the op to bring back that nostalgic feeling of the enjoyment of the show.

It provides me with more music to add to my mp3 player, at least. If I really like it, I'll see what other music the artist has done. In anime terms, it may get me more engaged into the anime more but really that's it.

i wish they included more of the first opening of reZero than the actual show, since they sometimes just skipped it, i really liked the opening but the show was shit. waste of a good opening.

In terms of just the music, some of my favorite ops come from some of my most hated anime. For example, Eir Aoi's Ignite is an amazing song, unlike the show it's attached to.

Very imporrtant. The song gets you in the mood for the show and if it doesn't work then it can hinder the shows quality

i typically skip through them unless i like the song. otherwise,
if anything, i don't think it's important to have but it's a bonus.
especially if it's beautifully crafted ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶

To me at least the OP is fairly important. I was meant to drop Divine Gate A LOT earlier... I just kinda forgot to do it and remember it in the middle of the episode. The great OP gave me false impressions of the series in my memories.

Likewise although I really enjoyed the third season of Haikyuu!! the OP didn't really do the trick of firing me up for a new episode.

If I'm marathoning a series with good OP I tend to skip it in order not to get bored of it. Like, I want to spread the freshness of the song on a maximum long period of time as possible.
