I'm speaking interpretation wise here. Which heroic spirit in all of the fate series disappointed you the most because they didn't meet your expectations of the person they were based off of.

I think Jack the Ripper was most disappointing because of her design and personality. I have no problem with Jack being a girl. Apocrypha came out before they concluded that the main suspect was some polish guy, so Jack the Ripper's identity was still a mystery then. But come on, a loli, with a mother's complex!? Talk about unrealistic. How the hell is a little orphan girl going to be able to skillfully dissect a prostitute without having prior education of human anatomy?

However, when i read a certain part of volume 2 of apocrypha, it was strangely worded. It sounded like Jack wasn't even human when she was alive but was rather a demon born from the grieving souls of unborn children who instinctually went after prostitutes.
That seemed like a somewhat interesting idea, but i may have misinterpreted as the wiki and other sources claim that she was just a random orphan. So i'll just have to keep reading to confirm.
But overall, I found Jack the Ripper to be incredibly disappointing and she's kinda distracting from all the good points apocrypha has going for it.
I'd go with emobubbles, but someone else already had it, damn bastard.

I think the idea of the mother complex for a serial killer who's targetting female prostitutes perfectly fits, actuallly. Even moreso if said serial killer's basically trying to find back the warmth of the mother figure he's been missing in those prostitutes (while having sex with them and then killing them).

It's just that... Why did she need to be a scantily clad loli?

I'll agree with that since there's no other servant that's disappointed me.

Really hope they give her a character arc or some kind of resolution in the next cour.

I suppose it wasn't the mother complex that bothered me the most.

Actually, when I first heard about her, I thought it would be something cool like a mother who hated the sins of whores decided to brainwash her own child into becoming a serial killer. The child only knew the mother and became extremely attached to the mother, hence, the mother complex. The mother only taught the daughter how to dissect the victims and would send the child out to search for prey. Then when Jack was summoned as a heroic spirit, she decided to make a contract with Reika because she reminded her of her own mother from when she was alive. That would've been cool.
But instead we just get some orphan girl who somehow knew enough human anatomy to skillfully kill in the way Jack the Ripper did.

lol good point.

Besides, these aren't actual historical figures, they're anime versions of historical figures. It's called creative expression people; nothing wrong if someone makes their own version of a past person. Besides, it might generate interest for people to research the actual history. I know I was eager to learn more about certain servants when I was going through FSN.

Basically this.

But what my last post referred to was how Jack seems to be portrayed in Apocrypha, not your theory haha

If that's the case, let's make Vlad iii into a tsundere neko girl with no good explanation. His character shouldn't have any dignity or realisticness because of all the killings he's done. Same could be said for Nero Clau-----Oh wait.

So this thread was just a method to vent?

I don't know much about apocrypha, so I don't have any input at all about Jack. But how good a character's design is is completely subjective

I don't mind them making their own versions of the historical figures, but if you're gonna do it, have it make sense. When they did it with Arturia, they actually had some decent explanations to fill in some would-be-plotholes to the Arthur legend if he were to be a girl. (such as being able to impregnate her sister by merlin temporarily turning her into a boy.)

Vlad iii did inspire dracula. I don't see how he has dignity there. Plus wasn't he a pretty big figure in the Ottoman Empire?

You are comparing a political figure to a nameless street killer who got away with it. I don't know much of Vlad the impaler but I bet he did some good for his empire. Name one good thing jack the ripper did that we know of?

Vlad iii killed and tortured way more people then Jack ever did.

Also, Aaron Kosminski (the most likely suspect) was a hairdresser, so we know that he may have helped make people look prettier, which could lead to more people getting laid, and therefore reproducing more children. That benefits humanity in my book.

Vlad was still depicted as a monster being the inspiration for Dracula.

That's called a slippery slope -_-
For all we know his haircuts could have been horrible, that is if it was even him.

It was kinda a joke. But imo, bad writing is in the eye of the beholder. And in my eyes, not making sense can be very distracting for me and I can't help but to dislike it at times.(such as for Jack in Apocrypha). I know what subjective is. I'm just stating that not making sense is bad writing in my opinion. You may think otherwise, and I will strongly disagree with you if you do.
