Money. Insurance. Taxes. Rent. Bills. Buying gas. Doing the whole work-eat-sleep thing. Fake people wearing smiles because they have to; it's part of the dress code. Rules made by other people long before you were born that you must abide by. Speed limits.

Do you ever wish you could just abandon the whole pointless package that is modern civilized society?

Its been that way for a long time.

I think some people are actually happy, and enjoy this lifestyle

I would like a break from it, and that's what sleep is in some ways.

Some people would probably enjoy it but without it they would become lonely and hungry.

Sleep is kind of required for most people.

Speed limits are made to keep people alive to " continue living in civilized society"

Pointless?

I guess it may become pointless if we ever get a new system.

Modern society can be tedious, but at the same time I like it. I could never abandon it. Sure there are lots of things I dislike, but it's convenient and the benefits outweigh all that other troublesome shit.

Absolutely! Would anyone care to join me in a tree-house out in the country? Of course, providing it still has Wi-fi. One can never abandon the internet, after all.

But I guess those types of laws and obligations and whatnot were established to, for the most part, make our lives easier.

This could also be one of those "the grass is greener on the other side" situations.

Thank god you where sensible enough to include that third option yet at the same time so insensible to use such a freaking impossible word. I refuse to google that now out of protest, I probably know what it means out of context anyway. Could have written tedious too, but that aint fany enough is it?

I don't mind work but i absolutely loathe formal dress codes. It feels damn uncomfortable. I would love to wear hoody/jeans to work everyday.

Nah. I know some people who would be fine abandoning everything and living on their own in a wooded area, but I can't. I need the people. I need the connection.

I definitely tire of society and the shackles it puts on me that I can't avoid such as taxes and insurance payments and the lot. Yet, I have a great appreciation for the technology provided by it. Even so, there is always someone trying to sully someone else into a decision... like in adverts, cm's, and such. Even my career, I try to convince others that I am relevant as a fine artist, and what I make is relevant in today's world despite all of the backlash due to said technology. I shouldn't have to convince, but it's like if you don't, you won't be noticed, and you disappear into a void of countless other people that all have wills and perceptions of their own trying to make their own ways in life. It's so complex, that I need to take a flight every year just to get away for a month or two to introspect.

Sometimes I get tired of modern society, and sometimes getting away from it would be nice, but the positives outweigh the negatives for me. For now, at least.

Not all of it is pointless. But sometimes i do wish i would be powerful enough to not abide by some of the meaningless and unjust rules of today's society.

It just depends on what the alternative is.

I have lived in the country away from most of it. Catching my own food and all.

I have been a part of it and done the tiring routine.

Life is what you make it and the grass is always greener.

Sometimes I think "fuck it!" and wish I was in a cabin somewhere in the mountains.

That feeling passes pretty quickly though. I know I'd die in a few days. I ain't no Bear Grylls.

Yes. But I know that I would regret my decision, if I decided to somehow wave goodbye to all things modern.

Modern society doesn't have to be as fake and tedious as you describe it. What you see is what you get, change your perception about something and suddently it becomes very different.

there are things I like about modern society and things I dislike.
I stay away from the things I dislike as good as possible and embrace the things I like.

I'm pretty neutral, I guess..

As stated on my profile
My dream is to retire early to some godforsaken pasture hundreds of miles from anywhere, grow vegetables, chase chickens and fondle cute goats all day with apatch3

I'd go live up in the mountains or anywhere away from civilization if I could right now, but I can't yet run away from my responsibilities.

It's funny that I read this post now. I just had a philosophy exam and there was a question about this and what would Mill and Sartre say about this.

I think those things are just part of life. You can't abandon those responsebilities. You have to deal with it and you have to try find a way to live your life to the fullest. Don't blame everything on society. Just start looking at yourself first and how can you make yourself happy.

Yes. Mostly as its built on a foundation of lies and false actions. Its called "Civilization" when as it has turned out now its little more than a apathetic rat-race. And barely controlled loosely tied barbarism.
