OP sounds a bit different (Phase 2!!).
The reporter saw someone lying on the ground painfully in the rainy day. Then he dies... And she is shocked when someone's behind her.
Dead body in the water, like last time.
There's also someone missing.
The police ordered that they are finally reporting about the incident. Yakumo's uncle, who saw the news with his daughter, wishes that there's nothing happening for the one went missing now.
The one with glasses that appeared last ep. is part of the team, too. And the boss is sleeping. lol @ his personality through the phone call.
Haruka's friend is telling her she saw a ghost.
Yakumo is looking at the pendant.
She comes in to get something, wha??? She's officially the club member?
So that pendant was his mother's (there was a flashback-ish of a woman before Haruka comes in). Haruka asked Yakumo about his mother, and he asked her when did she allowed to call him "Yakumo".
Haruka thought weird of calling him "Saitou" and "-kun" sounds like she's older, but she's the same age as Yakumo.
Phone ringing.
There are two types, who fears of his left eye or use it. The police is the second half.
So the police came. He told Haruka not to be with Yakumo or she graduates with no boyfriends. Yakumo said it's not his fault for Haruka to not having boyfriends, but because of her personality.
So that police with glasses came, too. Yakumo told him to transfer or his brain will become crazy being with that police.
Yakumo said he cannot go with him because Hakura came first, but she ran away, so he went with the police.
Haruka gets the place from her friend so that she's doing it herself.
Yakumo wants the police to tell him again because it's confusing.
The reporter was only out of conscious. The guy that the reporter met was a doctor who did illegal thing.
It was the reporter's father, the high rank police,'s order to take care of it.
The driver fell in love with Haruka!!
Haruka went to the tomb where her friend said she saw the ghost. She saw it, too. The ghost wants something to be stopped but Haruka doesn't understand it.
Visiting the reporter, who seems to have a soul. So it was that doctor's soul? He tries to get into her body, and soon she will die. He never saw this case, which he thought impossible, but he said the doctor still has the will to live. That means he didn't suicide, so the police needs to understand the soul better.
Visiting the doctor. lol~ He talks about Yakumo's eye useful with what he interested (soul and body), and is angry when the driver came in to say he doesn't know where to park.
Info. given, and he told them to find other info. themselves.
Yakumo is telling him to be nice to the driver, who respects him. (lol @ him for thinking the BL way) And then he came back at that moment with more info. Keys and notes. A photo in the note, the girl who went missing.
Visiting the hospital on the photo. That doctor knows about Yakumo's mother.
Haruka woke up in the hospital room, and it was the same one as Yakumo and the police came!
Yakumo's mother was one of his patients 20 years ago. So she went missing for over 10 years, when she tried to kill him and that's when he got her pendant. Got saved by a police who came over. He doesn't understand her because she was kind until that day. He asked the doctor about his mother's reaction seeing his left eye. He hesitated but finally said that she was frightened.
Yakumo saw Haruka when he walked away but ignored her.
Haruka stopped Yakumo, who tries to throw the pendant away. She said don't hide sad things to himself and do such sad things. The sun rises and he said sorry. He entrusted the pendant to her.
The guy with two red eyes was disappointed about Yakumo not go into darkness even after knowing his mother's feeling. He told the lady to tell the doctor about finding a body to get his daughter back (Haruka?, so that Yakumo can get into darkness?).
I ♥Two Syaorans from Tsubasa RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE and TRC!!!
Nice episode.A bit slow but really interesting.Yakumo's past seems really troubling.I hope they show more of it.. And what's up with that red-eyed dude in every episode? Always watching Yakumo and saying mysterious stuff??Who is he??
I agree that the pacing was a little better in this episode, but the last part with Yakumo and Haruka by the lake really just didn't resonate with me like I felt it should, and like the music suggested it should. While the pacing was overall better, I felt that the emotional moments in the previous episodes, especially ep. 1, were much better set up and executed.
That being said, I think Ishii could turn out to be pretty funny and different addition to the current cast :).
I also like that they left the current case open to be resolved in the next episode, which should mean that episode 5 will keep the same pace, or possibly even improve on it.
Learning a little more about Yakumo's past was also a nice plus.
Hopefully why exactly Haruka was at the doctors office to begin with will be explained in the near future....... >.>
mel-hime said: Better pacing...it seems the bad guys plan to do something to Haruka...*worries*...
Hope nothing bad will happen to her.
It seems to me that Haruka is also developing some form of paranormal sight, seeing that girl in the river and even becoming possessed for a short while.
This episode provided some revelations again of Yakumo's, being feared by your own mother must be hard.
And wonder what kind of influence the new detective will have with his obvious crush on Haruka.
so... Doesn't it seem strange, that Haruka woke up in the hospital? Did she fell into the water?(I guees I could hear the sound of a splash)... It's weird. Who rescued her?
This anime has a great potential and I've already fallen in love with its soundtrack <3
(and...Ono Daisuke - brilliant as always <3)

Most likely those 2 police officers that you saw when you heard the splash in the background, helping people is there job after all.
Too bad the production values are dropping fast because the story catch up in this episode and the direction was finally OK thanks to a better pacing and direction. The main characters (including Gotou) are very enjoyable too.
In every age, in every place, the deeds of men remain the same.

I thought i missed something since i didn't understand how she was in the hospital and walked by the room they were talking in, AND listened in.... Awfully convenient.
Anyways a good episode, but, after reading a comment, i realized that i didn't feel any emotion from that river scene either. Still looking forward for the plot to come; usually i don't complain about background information. We will make judgment on Haruka being the damsel when the time comes...
I think the bad man with red eyes is yakumo father , because they didn’t mention yakumo's father from before
And the episode was great I hope there is emotional thing between yakumo and Haruka

That could be it. But the way I'm seeing it, he could be the antagonist of the series.
Anyhow, pacing is better, but I do NOT want to see Haruka's soul devoured.
Well, this was propably the best episode yet. Still feels rushed though. Also, i just noticed that Haruka is actually cute, isn't she? But i wonder why she looks so different from novel/manga version of her...
....and throw him on the ground at the same time for pushing Haruka. Though she is still a little irritating, pushing her hard enough to make her fall is just too much.
This episode was surprisingly good. Just hope it gets better on the suspense. The OST is amazing for sure.
The doctor is most probably lying about Yakumo's past. He seems to be affiliated with the silver haired villain.
KeiranShikari said: Show still showing lots of potential which is good, also a few of the best chapters from the manga have still not been touched upon.
The second phase of Key sounds bad lol, it's like they were messing around with whatever auto-tune they may be using for Ono Daisuke's voice, or maybe that's his actual voice this time?
Anyway the episode was alright, it's actually beginning to look kinda interesting tho I can't believe I didn't recognize the doctor till later.
Another solid episode, oddly I didn't even realize twenty minutes had passed, the episode flew by even though a decent amount happened. Loved the last few minutes, it was a bit touching and horrific. I hope we find out in the series whether Yakumo's mother was possessed or truly wanted to kill him (not an invitation for spoilers.)
Unlike previous episodes this doesn't wrap the case up in one episode (although it's not like a lot was devoted to it this ep, so that's not to say there was a ton of build up.) Still, it's got my interest. And I can't wait for the bad guy to make his move, he sounds like he's up to something fun.
Ah, they're finally allowing more time for plot development, i hope the next episode doesn't disappoint! The characters are becoming much more interesting as well.
How old is Yakumo ? his mom disappeared 20 years ago and he looked 5-6 minimum when she was strangling him so he is 24-25 years old.
what is his major ? :)
Other than that nice episode

lol subs
He's 21 (Haruka too).
His mom disappeared more than 10 years ago.
The doctor didn't adopt Yakumo, but he delivered Yakumo at his birth.
Also, Gotou got transferred to a different division, not fired.

I don't know if you were reading different subs than he and I were, but the ones I read also said "she has been missing for more than 20 years now." Yakumo doesn't seem much older than 20, so it would make more since if you're right and it's actually 10 years. I'm confused by the age thing now, too.
Anyways, nice episode - definitely better than the last one. Even though everything that's happened thus far has been utterly predictable, I still like this show. The story is average, but the animation (or art, rather?) is a style that I like. The music is also fitting, and the voicing for all the characters just seems so perfect to me. Despite the average story, I'm enjoying Shinrei Tantei Yakumo a lot. It's really too bad that the show is only 13 episodes. I also imagine that's the reason for the pacing everyone's upset about.
Edit: By the way, Midnight, your avatar is awesome!
At first I though Haruka was a bit annoying, now I'm starting to find her more adorable. Good it be....that I'm starting to like a HETERO COUPLE?!? Woah! What is the world coming to?!

Nordkohl made a mistake here, i've certainly heard Yakumo saying 10 years.
It was quite good. I was kinda distracted (painting my nails) lol so it seemed quite ok to me. Oh and as we can see, the story starts to take it's turn.. i bet in near future they will go through some hardships and other stuff, so maybe the show get's better in climax :)
Great episode. Yakumo is finally showing some true character. at least compared to
how he used to be. Hopefully next week’s episode will be just as good, if not better.
A step in the right direction. The first three episodes were extremely dull, it's good to see some story progression instead of the show just failing to be cryptic as id did in previous episodes. The mystery here is much better, and though there are still tired cliches being used, it is actually a decent episode.
Laugh and the world laughs with you. Weep and you weep alone.
"Hai guise, my name is Haruka!
I'm probably the most useless and brainless character the history of anime has ever seen!
You see, I've been treated like a piece of shit by this guy called Yakumo. But I want to help him overcome his emoness, and maybe he'll be nice to me in the end! Yay!"
Holy God, Haruka is so annoying, I like her but sometimes... C'mon, she's in love with Yakumo, so fast? Don't believe you!
But, this is getting better and better!
Waiting for the next one~
