I like sad stories sometimes, but endings? Nah, I'm not a fan of endings in general.

I think it depends on the anime/manga.

For example - I MUCH prefered the ending of Kuroshitsuji Season 1 (even though it's pretty damn sad) to the ending of Season 2.

That being said.. I hated the ending of Kenshin Seisouhen as opposed to the normal ending from the series.

I guess it just has to be done right - and not feel cliche or whatever. If done properly it can be wonderful

I don't like happy endings nor do I like tragic endings. I like endings that move me, regardless of how happy or sad I become.

Depends, sometimes sad endings are more memorable than the predictable happy endings, but it's nice to see a happy ending once in a while.

As long as there is closure i'm happy with any type of ending. Then again if they were all happy endings there would be no "spice" in the mix.

It really depends on the story that is being told. GENERALLY If a story is set up in a way so that it "should" have a Happy/Sad ending, and then the opposite ending occurs, it can lead to feeling a bit "cheated". So, any ending is all well and good as long as it fits the theme.

Endings that annoy me if some major plot points aren't explained, but I do see the "appeal" to them are the ending in which it is left up to the viewer/reader to decide what they believe will/has/should happen. (Eg. Inception and Shutter Island are two "main stream" movies that I've seen lately in which this has occurred)
Will you be able to do.... what must be done?

Not happy endings are much as a cliche as happy endings now are days so it doesn't matter what it is as long as the ending fits the spirit of the story and is a well made ending.

well ...... we can't always expect or have happy endings, it depends on theme of anime and besides ..... when i see sad ending i get sad too but basically it comes down to "what is more suited for ending" for some particular anime ...

If it suits the anime, then definitely...
It really depends on whether or not it fits the rest of the series.

Yes, I like sad endings, I believe in the whole Greek concept of evoking great emotional sadness through drama to be spiritually lifted. Good endings do nothing for you.

I like sad endings even though I "hate" them when I'm watching them . I' rly a love/hate relationship . I know that when sad endings are used they fit the story just perfect but I still hate them for making me sad D: When I get over the temporary sadness (that can hold out for like 2 days if it affects me a lot) , I feel that it was just what it needed <3

Tragic endings can be nice, but I definitely don't want every ending to be tragic. I really enjoy happy endings, but sad endings can be very well done as well.

If it is realistic, then sure. If its sad just to be sad, than not really. I think that there should be a good reason to have a sad ending.

I dislike sad endings. I try to avoid movies and shows with sad endings if I can. The reason I say if I can because I try to avoid finding out how a movie or show will end.

It depends...
I prefer happy endings, but sometimes it's just not possible.

In some animes, the sad ending makes it better. It can be "happy" but "bad" at the same time. Or "sad" but "good".

For example... Romeo x Julier:

But if both options are good, I will always like the happy ending better!!

Death Note's ending kept it from being a masterpiece; so no.

That's ridiculous. How else could it have ended?
