Mine personally is the Guilty Gear series (amazing depth, music, characters and designs), Followed by the Last Blade and Marvel vs. Capcom series, although Mark Of The Wolves is probably my favourite 2D fighters, just not a big fan of the rest of the Fatal Fury games.

I like Street Fighter, Street Fighter II to be specific. Beating up everybody with Zangief is always fun.

It was a toss-up between Darkstalkers and MvC for me, but having more available humans to play against pushed MvC ahead. I've known maybe two other people who had actually played the Darkstalkers games.

King of Fighters
Namely 95 and Dream Match both of these have some serious nostalgia attached to them for me. This was first fighting game series I really got into. I really liked the aesthetics more in KoF then Street Fighter or Mortal Combat and at the time Guilty Gear had yet to become well known. Though while I love the look of Guilty Gear, I never got into to it because my friend was really good and do the one hit kill on me all the time.

My vote goes to "Samurai Shodown", I have always been a big fan of the old school, plus it has that cool feudal japan era to it as well. And this series was the first one to introduce a weapon based fighting game. Even before Soul Edge or Battle Arena Toshinden.

Virtua Fighter and Tekken are 3D fighters not 2D; Mugen isn't a series more just messing around. Fighting Maina? (Mania I assume you meant) Isn't a 2D fighter.

I was really into Melty Blood: Act Cadenza. Mainly because of the PC release and the netplay program tweaked by mauve. Still hoping for a MBAA PC release.

I got into GG really late, so it never really stuck with me. Plus being a pad user for melty made the game that much harder to learn.

I played SF4 a lot but being an execution whore, I feel that if you happen to mess up one of your links due to netplay and the opponent is mashing TU, he will beat you out into a FADC into Ultra for 60% of your health. Nothing should be essentially free in any fighting game. That would never happen in melty. Plus although high level play can be fun to watch, if it's two shotos or depending on the matchup it can be the biggest snoozefest in 2D fighting. I was still pretty into it for a while though, but never went competitive.

Virtua fighter has been 2D

Ok forget about that version as its rubbish

Also my eyes are old and knackered TO MUCH SMALL TEXT ON SMALL SCREENS!

Mugen is a legit game as a fighter its just a lot of the content is rubbish

Definitely BlazBlue. For a fighting game that actually has a legit enjoyable story with a sound novel reminisce experience it's a great game, but doesn't welcome newcomers to the fighting game genre. (Besides Jin)

Marvel vs. Capcom was the 1st PS2/Fighting game I played that while I was 11 I just pressed about ever single button on the controller, and to now this day i've still yet to download it from the Xbox Live market.

I never understood the Street Fighter appeal.

And Arakune. If that curse lands once, dumbasses can just rub their nuts against the attack buttons for the rest of the match and let the bees do the rest.

Eh, the only times I can get around to killing the guy is when I have the disgustingly spam Gauntlet Hades, and Hells Fang against him or even degrade myself to ice car with Jin.

Really with Jin you do reverse half circle Y/A/X/Triangle, with Arakune you just get your opponent with the bugs, get them near you spam the same damn close range 2 hits, hit them up, and then use his lulzy solar beam.

Now if you want an experienced fighter that doesn't down that road, but is still cheap you can get pissed off at Tager.

i... don't understand xbox buttons and jin has no half-circle motions.
ice car is horrendous on block and if they're not punishing it they're bad.
arakune is easy to beat if they're just trying to spam curses, dodge and smack him around all day, dive is annoying as hell though.

tager is easy as hell too because most people don't know efficient setups, in the hands of a good player he'll rip you a new one if you're not careful but he's just.. so.. bad.

easy way to kill bad arakunes is 6A w/ ragna ALL DAY. on hit, j.c j.d dj.c dj.d Infarno dividahhhhh.

Almost every character in BB has at least one or two really cheap moves, no real exceptions to be honest.

I picked BlazBlue because it's the most fun I've ever had in a fighting game, and I love the pace and general feel of it/
Second is Guilty Gear, I started playing that quite a bit after buying and loving BlazBlue the day it came out.
Third is probably...Street Fighter, although I don't enjoy 4 really, I like watching top tier matches and such, but playing it is kinda so-so for me.

What.

Jin isn't hard to use, but it's not like he's particularly noob-friendly compared to other characters. Ragna is even easier to learn, and Noel is about the same level of difficulty.
Zukin-Man said:

What.

As long as you don't jump into the air like an idiot, all you have to do is jab a spamming Arakune once and the bees go away. Not like spamming bees is all that dangerous in the first place, you could just... I dunno, block them?

Now, a good Arakune who knows what he's doing, that's something to be afraid of. But that's hardly anything you have to worry about from noobs.

Why do people say Noel is so easy to learn? I couldn't get her 6C > 22C > dash > 6C... loop down consistently, timing on that seemed so tight compared to anything Ragna had.

BlazBlue - because only one dollar, lasts you way longer than a two dollar Tekken 6 game.
Marvel Vs. Capcom + Street Fighter - The other two I'm familiar with. I preferred Marvel Vs. Capcom because it had more characters to choose from but both were great. I hate using joy sticks (can't really get used to the whole flicking thing - consoles are for me).

It's easy to say "just block them", but then there's that whole Guard Libra thing and blocking too much. I can keep a block going for a while, but then my guard breaks and I still have half an insect-shitstorm coming at me.

Sure, stopping a curse is as easy as jabbing once, but I sometimes find it difficult to navigate through a wall of bees.

against dumb arakunes it really is easy as pie. just do like a dp or something. hell blocking is a viable action since dumb arakune's will take forever to guard break you. his bees aren't as simple as spam buttons and win.
every character has an answer except tager.

against even mediocre arakune's its a problem though as they can get away with so much shit.

good luck in CS though. curse is on a timer now and he has one hit kill loops xD

Well, I said she was about the same level of difficulty as Jin, not that she's easy. They're both mid-level difficulty to learn, I'd say, compared to the rest of the blazblue cast.

Instant block the D-bug (free Heat meter, woo!), don't worry about the rest. I'm the 7th ranked Iron Tager on PSN at the moment, and Arakune matchups don't bother me as much as you'd think.
