DAAAAAAAAAAAMN!!! Really I never expected it would THIS good. It was simply fabulous. The best movie I ever saw in probably the last years. It was an truly emotional roller-coaster. Yeah there was a lot of fan-service, but I really don't care, If it turns out right at the end, then everything is ok. By the way, I don't see this as being Neon Genesis Evangelion, this is Rebuild of Evangelion, so I'm not pissed off that the story is different. I'm even happy that it changed, because to see the original, I'll see the series. also with what kaworu says in the epilogue of the movie ("I will make you happy at last"something like this) made me think that this is something that happens after the original TV series. It's like in Buddhism, where when you die you have a better life than the one before, until reaching the nirvana. Also to defend my theses, I've got the title argument: Rebuild of Evangelion. Maybe just fantasying though I gave it 10/10, but if this score will last depends on 3.0 and 4.0, but as for the whole individual movie it surely deserves to be rated an masterpiece. Thank you Hideaki Anno. Thank you so much. |

Quite impressive as expected, though i don't know if I really agree with some of the changes, especially concerning Asuka and Mari. It was nice to see Mari go Beast Mode with unit 2, but I would really much more appreciate if it were Asuka going beast mode, instead of just being locked up somewhere during the final battle, completely unrelated. It felt like she has become a side character here. And i thought one of the major point of the 1995 series was showing how Asuka became so depressive towards the end. And it was also sad that the ball Angel with this weird shadow got completely removed, it was where unit 1 went berserk right before this time in the movie. I always thought that was quite impressive as well, but of course the battle in Geo Front with Zeruel was definitively the most exciting one in the whole series, but then again, that was already towards the end of the old series, and we can still expect 2 more movies here. All in all I am quite satisfied with it and I cannot wait to find out what the last 2 movies would be about. |

What the flying fuck was that?! Feels like they just changed everything that could've been changed. Don't get me wrong, I think that's awesome. I just didn't saw that coming. God, I think I need another beer to get this outta my system. Damn... fin~ WIN! |

That was pretty sick. I really thought they'd killed Asuka at one point. Been a while since I've felt so agitated about an anime movie. It was another impressive Evangelion movie and I'm looking forward to the delicious BD and some proper subs. The DVD already looked pretty detailed but I expect the BD to look quite a bit better. They sure changed a lot though. It was very, very awesome to see Asuka live again. Oh, how I've missed her. Mari seems to be a freaking great character, too. I'm looking forward to more action with her. Shinji's underrated again, his role was probably the most untouched regarding plot changes. The Angel concepts were scary, it's great to see some new and innovative designs. Good stuff. The preview relieved me of my pain, I hope Asuka's eye patch won't be permanent. She looked quite energetic and lively again so that's good. I gotta grab me a beer now. Fuck, this was exciting. I gotta calm down now... |

Damn damn damn. Anyways... Fanboy mode : ON Movie was damn PERFECT for me. Loved it so much. 1) Mari was epic win. I wanna see more of her. Sakamoto Maya did a splendid job. 2) Asuka <3 Loved her Tsun behavior and her classical line :p 3) Rei learning to cook!! Sweet! Fights were amazing. Music was awesome too. I think they used Kare Kanos music at the "happy moments". I'm not sure can anyone confirm this? Also they used Higurashis no naku koro ni sounds too. I noticed at least 2 parts were it was exact same sounds as the higurashi game :p The ending was a AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA cliffhanger! I just can't guess what gonna happen really :/ PS> Am i the only one that fucking jumped out of the bed and almost screamed when Asuka "died"?!?! I was like NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. DONT KILL HER TT :/ Glad to see shes alive even in a terribly state. |

EPIC. Just simply epic. Haven't been wating for nothing all this time. The last fight was one of the most if not the most amazing things I've ever seen, seriously GAINAX + Hideaki is just the most god-like combination ever. The song at the end was really awesome too. (though I first thought:"WTF K-ON?!!") This is definetely the best of this year. |

O M F G I Think this is the most EPIC thing of the 2010. Simply EPIC. The first half consist of a little bit of Mari's introduction. Pretty much many things different here. I see Asuka, Rei and Gendou show a little bit of their warmer side here. But then the second half come ruins everyhing (obviously, nice things never happend in eva series). First the berserk scene with the dummy plug in eva 01 almost killed Asuka, then their dinner get canceled. After that Rei get absobed by the tenth angel, and the last, the third impact is coming, seriously, Anno realy mindblowned me. The music and BGMs really nailed it too. The rearranged old BGM combined with some new ones and slow songs on EPIC moment (only Eva could put slow child singing into a gore scene EPIC). The story development that differ from the original series also fuckin'ly awesome. I'm seriously speechless, this is a masterpiece. Now it's time to eagerly wait for the 3.0 |

BD is a whole lot more intense and ;_; too. Don't think I can rate this a 10 though, because of what happened to Asuka. Everything else was freaking epic, the psycho stuff is great. |

wow that truly blew my mind I know that my balls will probably be chopped off and fed to rabid squirrels but I think that this movie is far better than the original series on the count of it's head is only slightly up its own anus and the fights just got +5 for epicness thanks to updated Eva design and other +factors one thing though the songs for the battle scenes honestly scared the shit out of me. no seriously that stuff was creepy |

J3N0V4 said: I know that my balls will probably be chopped off and fed to rabid squirrels but I think that this movie is far better than the original series I'm sure a lot of people would agree with that, and although I am not going to compare the two just yet as half of the Rebuild tetralogy still hasn't been released, I am also inclined to agree. It's just like ANN said; "What Evangelion 2.0 brings to the table is far more than a retelling; it features an overarching maturity that was missing in the original. Gone is the hysterical self-loathing, the navel-gazing, the relentless self-defeat in even its narrative structure, and most of the confusing and problematic Judeo-Christian symbolism. (The angels, though familiar looking, aren't even named anymore.) The story that's left is told calmly, with measured pacing and an even-handedness that's unexpected to those familiar with the original. In doing so, it reveals flaws in the original that likely never occured to the viewer initially, but are easy to spot now that they're gone. It's far too early to tell for sure, but at this point it's entirely possible that Rebuild of Evangelion will emerge as the stronger work. Fans worried that Anno's steadier hand may no longer lead us to dark and horrible places have worried for nothing. He is clearly a more mature man now, so this work features a grounded, deep-seeded anger for the world, for society, for people and their failings that is distinctly new to the franchise, rather than the adolescent angst and self-doubt the original wallowed in. Evangelion 2.0 feels as though the project has been put on mood stabilizers: it's not any happier, but it's more stable and certainly more focused." So far the Rebuild movies are definitely more well-rounded than the original series. Anno has surprised new and old fans alike and I think he will continue to do so. |

All of those things are what made the original series what it is today, but if they were included in Rebuild it would no longer be a reimagining, but more like a frame for frame remake with better animation. If one wants to experience the navel-gazing and self-hatred, one could just revisist the series. Rebuild offers us a different perspective because the series is already perfect as it is. |

Vast improvement over the original and much better than the Rebuild 1.0. Thank god they took out most of the retarded emofest. I think they should've showed Mari more and flesh her out a bit but I guess there's still 2 movies to do so. It just feels a little forced for her to suddenly show up though to commandeer 02. |

10/10 easily It took the good parts from the anime and added even more good parts to them while still maintaining a similar yet different storyline. I feel like it's what the original could have been if they actually had a real budget. |

The remodelling of the angels were quite well done, especially Sahaquiel and that the city got flooded with its blood afterwards. I found the school choir song during the slaughter to be comical.. Rei showing emotion. The world must have ended, waitaminute... it did... Nonetheless, it added to Rei's charm. The upgraded Seele insignia looks a little more intimidating. Quite a bit more interesting that it's no longer just NERV in Tokyo-3 having to deal with the angels solely, particularly mentioning the American and European bases. It was sad to see that Asuka became the centre of the Matsushiro tragedy, but she apparently survives and has an eyepatch. Looks like Third Impact is accelerating a little faster this time and has Kaoru's role differ? Wonder if we will finally find out how Kaji got killed, given if that will still happen... |

Good thing I could barely remember anything from the series for the epic impact of this movie. The many new scenes, extra character and different plot changes really surprised me. However, I expected a little more Mari. Best movie I have watched in a long time. 9/10. Well, I'm still waiting for Disappearance on DVD. |
