There's no rule that a series is exactly like the one shot. They can always say, "We'll serialize this, but we want you to change X, Y, & Z." There's also no rule about a series staying the same throughout it's entire run: haven't you ever read a manga which started as one thing, but by the end was different?

With that said, I'm hoping that Ten wins. Even though it's obviously a gag manga in the one shot, the editing department can ask that they tone down the gags. OR they can phase out the gags after they finally get rid of Muira (hey, we can hope). It also has the added benefit of making our heroes work hard to make the best of the situation they're in. And in the wide scheme of things, I think Ten is more likely to get an anime, the goal they are ultimately working towards.
