Bakuman is the newest manga of the Death Note duo, Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata, and a very good one in my opinion. The manga is about two boys in 9th grade who wish to be mangaka, or manga artists. The two main characters are artist Moritaka Mashiro and aspiring writer Akito Takagi. What the name means isn't very clear, Baku can mean a lot of things. Here are a few kanji of "Baku" and their meaning: 爆: exclamation, burst of laughter 縛: binding, bonds, fetters 獏 or 貘: tapir 瀑: raging current 爆: bomb, burst open, pop, split 縛: truss, arrest, bind, tie, restrain 漠: vague, obscure, desert, wide 寞: lonely, quiet 瀑: waterfall (Yes, these are all pronounced as "baku", and there are loads more) Wikipedia suggest "Burst of laughter man" <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bakuman" target="_blank">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bakuman</a> But for all I care, as in the manga, it's written in kana, it can mean everything from "Burst of laughter man" to "Bomb man" "Current man" or "Waterfall man". Why Bakuman was chosen as the name isn't known yet, but it's probable that the manga the 2 are going to make themselves is going to be named Bakuman.
