Way too much Miya Miya, not enough Kirino and Saya. I feel sorry for Satorin though it does do a pretty good job of summing up her character (pushed to the side by the more important ones). I really wished Miya Miya would have lost, thats what she should get for being such a bitch all the time (though her stalker was hilarious). Not much plausibility in the fact that both Tama and Satorin, and Yuji and Dan would be paired up in the first round in such a large tournament, but I guess it is excusable.

So Dan-Kun lost? or was it Yuji?

Aside from that, a pretty okay episode. And Miya-Miya got her first win (two wins in fact).

I now this is one epi too early to say this, but I'm going to miss this anime when it's done. Has anyone read the manga? Is there material for another two cools?

this was such a good episode. Loved seeing all the matches especially Yuji's and Dan's. Though I wished we focused on some of Saya's or Kirino's matches.

Ok, just wanted to confirm since the first post (and the spotty AEN sub) made me doubt myself for a sec. Dan-kun really gave Yuji quite a fight. Considering Yuji has been a long-time practicioner of Kendo(like Tama), you have to give Dan-kun props. And it's about time that dumbass Sensei noticed their two male members are quite talented as well.

The preview made me lol, although it's almost obvious that he will have a change of heart and come back to sharpen his kendo again. It's just the kind of anime this is. I don't expect it to be an overly dramatic sad ending.

Ya Dan has come a long way. Since he's so small and his arms are smaller then most people, he has better movement and control.

I'm really happy with the way this episode went. I'm just confused why their teacher would leave. He doesn't know if he's going to be fired yet...so why leave? O well, next ep should be interesting.

This is actually turning out to be a decent ending. Honestly, this whole show has been a genuine sort of pick-me-up comedy, and I wasn't really expecting any sort of resolution in the end, but the writing has been getting better since the Tama-loses arc. They rounded out all the individual conflicts except for the teacher in a satisfactory way, so I'm actually really looking forward to the next episode.

More Kirino and Saya would be nice though...

another great ep. I honestly thought Tama was going to match ascension stances with Rin but the finishing tsuki was also great.

The Finisher Tsuki was a bit senseless because Tama tried it on last Game and Rin dodged it. We weren't able to see the "special Training" imho. Still was amazing :P

Last time Tama didn't use it correctly. This time she aimed to "kill". Besides, she didn't really trained. Sensei, being unconfident, only gave her advice.

Anyway, the thing with the Sensei is that he thinks he is a failure to them. They are all enjoying Kendo to the fullest but for him it has always been about keeping his job and bringing food to the table. So he believes he doesn't deserves to be their advisor anymore. That they deserve an advisor who actually cares for Kendo.

I agree with the comment on the Finisher Tsuki. It seems too much like a special attack or at least the go-to move, if she had special training I think she should have developed more. But, she still resorted to the same technique that she has been using since the beginning of the anime (back when she kicked that other kids ass, though that was the first time she used in a bout). Her character has become more open, and now she even likes kendo, so I think her fighting should of progressed, too. But, thats just me.

It's about time MiyaMiya wins a match and she got some more afterwards. But, I think she should've just had that one win and that's it. They should've shown Sayako and Kirino fights during that time. I mean, they did make it to the 4th stage.

I don't like how Azuma is just a filler character; the 5th that's just there to fill in the gap for tournaments. She's supposed to be strong and we saw that when she took on Tama for the first time. But, since then, she has been gradually falling off the scale and hasn't seen a clean victory in a while.

Tama was cool in the end, but for all that buildup, the match was decent at best. The final blow was still hard though and gave the match the feel of the 'braver' justice lol.

Yeah, I can see how you would feel that way, but at the same time it brings with it the concept of the full-circle. Just as you point out, the "kill" move was used on a relatively weak character, who's evil was the sole source of power (lol, don't mean to sound too corny)... in reality she was weak, so when that "hollow" and or "incomplete" special move was used on Rin, it wasn't good enough. Finally, when the truth of what Kendo means to Tama is brought out (through Sensei's teaching, of which he feels inadequate) it comes full circle and gains real significance and full power. Remember when her father warned her of the move? It's a typical "overcome yourself" plot device... that being said, I don't feel that it was too out of place, although the Red color she emitted was a bit off base... it should have been a purer, cleaner color... perhaps a dazzling white with gold stars! kekeke

I also agree with you, but when you look at it like that, I feel maybe they should of put more of a focus on the move itself. In typical fighting stories, a similar situation is played out like this, and the special move or style is paralleled to the fighters own strength (mastered move, mastered power and mental state etc...). But, the move doesn't just pop up when necessary, it is used throughout the story, whether it be training or in combat. Her move was used too infrequently for me to be seen from that angle. Once again, thats probably just me.

Her father told her not to use it because if it was done wrong she would kill someone. With that said, I still have no idea why she used it after everyone shunned her the last time she used it. In any case, I understand why she won this time. It wasn't because she learned how to fully use that move it was simply because she wasn't calculating every move or thinking about just winning. She was actually just fighting for fun. If you notice the first time, when Rin used the move that Tama's mom used to use, she froze up because she was thinking to much. The second time she realized she wasn't fighting her mom and it was just a normal match.

So in the end Tama learned to play for fun and to love Kendo. Thats all the special training she got.

Reimi's room is hilarious and scary at the same time.

Finally Miya Miya scored a win. I didn't like her second matchup though because it was pretty much luck that dictated the outcome.

The boys are usually brushed to the side so it was refreshing to see them get some screen time during the tournament.

Tama's fight was predictable but still fun to watch.

The boy meditating fell asleep =). Anyway, great episode. Miya's tactical decision (over watching Rin's previous fight) was really prepared off. I don't want to see Dan-kun go wild tonight lol. Oh thought that was a group battle.. Kirino pinching Tama chan so cute!

The fight between Rin and Tama was perfect.. almost all hits were draws,

The flash from the camera helped Miya win!!

Isnt the middle stance more dangerous than ascension??

@20:54 so cute Tama being hugged

Not gonna lie, Yuuji vs Dan was the best part about this episode. Miya disarmin BOTH her opponents' shinai was simply bs. Disarming just one of them is already hard enough and would have meant a penalty for Mary in a real match. I'm not saying that it's impossible under any circumstances(e.g. facing a much stronger senior/sensei), but it's just not probable in a match like that. Also, the competition-savvy Mary could easily avoid getting hit in a situation like this, getting away with just a penalty(half a point for Miya).

I'm proud of Miya, finally being able to lift that defeat curse that has shrouded her for a while now, and to do it against Carrie makes it even sweeter.

Congrats to Tama as well for winning against Rin. Everyone else has grown considerably as well.
