Another fantasy isekai anime this season. I've read the LN a long time ago but it's how I pictured the characters would look like when animated. Episode/story follows Ellen in this fantasy world and it looks like her parents have quite a prominent status. Ellen has a charming look and sweet personality as expected someone of her age. Story wise, it's going to follow the events of that kingdom. Animation quality looks so-so imo coming from JC Staff. Not that impressive but suits the style of the anime. |

Novelist Matsuura's series sure is quite the family dilemma in a fantasy world really... A heroic father, a spirit mother, and a half-spirit child, these 3 are a happy family, only except that the little child is the reincarnated Ellen living within the confines of hero Rovel Vankreift and spirit mother Origin. And a fair few enemies that are the targeted of her parents, Ellen's desire to oust them, is quite the interesting approach for a fantasy. It's alright...to be honest... |

That was so sweet, what a lovely family. The noble families intrigues conflict meanwhile could turn things ugly, emphasis on ugly. ![]() |

Off to a good start in my book. It’s portraying itself as a pretty comfy, easygoing fantasy story. As long as it sticks to that, I think this should be an enjoyable watch |

Well, at least I appreciate some "show, don't tell" attempt on Ellen's power. Instead of just telling us on what's her cheating skill is, she demonstrated on her parents' marriage. Oh, it's such a rare event to see your biological parents married with your own eyes, isn't it? Not sure what I should feel about that madam, if she's gonna play a "villainess" role, she should copy from the current trend of "villainess" anime, just because you're ugly inside doesn't mean you've to ugly outside too. Now she's just a joke character. But this is not what I'm sad about. What I sad about the most is the fact that the hero's father passed away in battle, he's such a hot DILF, I'm wondering if he's actually still alive considering that he has his own voice actor, if he's just a cameo there's no need for a dedicated voice actor, they could cut all his spoken lines and make it a silence flashback. |

@phantomfandom I think you're underestimating anime, I've seen so many anime that get excellent actors to play a character that only gets 20 seconds of screen time throughout the whole series. Funny enough It's literally the only character they play in the show too. So if you're wondering if they'd get an actor to play a character that gets almost no screen time. Even a really good actor, then the answer is absolutely yes. Don't ask me why, I wouldn't know, but it's really common. |
I like to watch some anime, I like to talk about some anime, I dislike wars over some anime, but more than anything I love to live my life, anime is an enjoyable and entertaining addition onto my life but it's not my whole life. |

Had quite a few laugh-out-loud moments with the dad fawning over his daughter 😆 and seems like a cute and fun show. |

This show went under my radar and I'm glad I tried watching it, very chill and fun and I absolutely love it! The production quality looks decent, nothing crazy visually but it fits the tone of the show. The fantasy kingdom setting is very standard but it works and I enjoy it. What stands out the most is obviously the characters and the lighthearted comedy. I really like the gap moe between Rovel's natural serious persona and his cheerfulness when around his family, with incredible voice range too, the VA really did an amazing job! The dynamic between Rovel and his daughter is just so adorable and funny, he folds really easily lol, and the love between him and his wife is just the sweetest thing ever! They're such a cute loving family and their happiness is very contagious! I'm not sure why the daughter needed to be a reincarnated person, but her power's quite cool and is based on her previous life, and we got to see it in action during the wedding, beautiful scene! Then we have Agielle... oh god she's comically a goofy ugly ass pig LMAO 🤣 |

Very good beginning episode! Rovel the former Hero, now Half-Spirit and Origin the Spirit behave like both a loving couple and clever Ellen's doting parents. It is positive! |

Not a bad first episode and nothing amazing either. If they deal with the villainess issue within the next two episodes and don't drag that on for the entire season, I can see this being a low to mid 6. Honestly, Ellen should just lock the villainess up in a tungsten prison or something and leave it at that. |

Poor guy comes back to find his brother's been sold off to the second princess who looks like nothing so much as a gaudy cross between Ms. Piggy and a cave troll. (She also really reminded me of the orcs from the 70s animated Hobbit movie or Greta the female gremlin from Gremlins 2.) |

Decent prologue. I honestly have no idea how this one will go, since it had such a unique start compared to most isekai. Also, I really love how the spirits are portrayed in this anime. Usually, they’re more ghost-like, but here, they look exactly like humans. |

Wait that’s it?? That first episode went by so quick, couldn’t believe the credits were rolling. So glad I ended up checking this one out. Was hesitant because of my seasonal load this season, but this was such a good first episode. Of all the isekai, I don’t think I’ve ever seen or even heard of one where both parents are in the MC’s life like this and both such legendary OP beings! Whole family full of broken powerful people lol. Love how close Rovell and Ellen are and how she’s able to get her dad to do anything just by being cute lol. He’s such a nice doting father, but as we saw when he met his bodyguard again and was asked to come home, he’s got this serious streak to him. Almost as if he uses his time with Ellen and his wife, Origin to cover the pain and anger he feels inside. Losing your dad all because of a jealous POS getting him sent to the frontlines and never really being able to grieve/move past that surely created some unresolved trauma. Wonder how we’ll see that play out next episode. Laughed so hard when they showed just how hard his former fiancé had fallen off. She’s been eating good that’s for sure. Props to the author for doing something different with the isekai formula, I think this’ll be a nice wholesome fantasy story to relax with this season. |

It's good that Slop leveling won the CR awards with such a power gap, Gaijin Weebs don't deserve good anime. Not after what they did to frieren, kusuriya, and many others |

@ItIsZach I feel like this Villainous is kind of a joke anyways given how absurdly comical her design is, it shouldn’t drag on too long. And based on the trailer + what we’ve seen so far I think we’re gonna see the royal family probably come after Ellen in some way, shape, or form. |

Rovel sure is funny when it comes to doting/bragging abt Ellen or when he hears she hates him🤣! I can understand why he'd run away from home, even I wouldn't want to stay in a place with a fiancee so overbearing and pompous. Origin was the better choice as his wife in both looks and personality lol! I honestly don't see why Rovel wouldn't let everyone meet at least Origin, sure she can reign fire upon those who made Rovel suffer, but what could those people possibly do to a spirit like her? |

The story sounds like it was generated using buzzword bingo. I couldn't watch past the first eight minutes. On top of being annoying, the characters are as bland as the story. |

awww, she knows her father is the hero and she thinks he should go back! oh boy, the townsfolk recognize him! oooh! his former bodyguard! interesting! lol he's a doting girl dad, I love it! lolol Ellen pulling out a fake(?) "I hate you" to get him to go home! I love her lolol oooh! registering the marriage on the living side as well seems like a very smart move! esp with that woman in the household! OOOH! ELLEN IS GONNA GIVE THEM RINGS!!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!! awwwwwwww what a cute couple! you can tell they truly love each other! wow, the ex is really ugly now! suits her right! |
Sometimes you just need to scream into the void. That said, AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH PLEASE GIVE ME FANTASY ANIME RECS!!! I'M PRETTY MUCH OUT ON CRUNCHYROLL AND I'M BORED!!! Streaming services I have: Crunchyroll (this is the main one I use for anime and I've pretty much exhausted my options there), Netflix, Disney+ (including Hulu), Peacock, Paramount+, HBO Max, Apple TV+, Amazon Prime |

I have zero expectations for a good story and I'm sure it'll be clique, but Ellen is the cutest little thing <3 I'll give it at least 3 and see the story either reveals to be something more than something we've all seen a thousand times or if Ellen can keep carrying the show with kawaii'ness. |

I like Ellen's backstory and power.. The perfect relationship of her parents made me sad.. happy for them but sad for real life..that kind of relationship is incredibly rare. Ellen really lucked out in her reincarnation.. The villain is animated too comically in a fatphobic kind of way.. Don't like that. |

Not sure why exactly, but something about this has a very classic fantasy feel, despite also being an isekai and all the references to knowledge of modern science and the periodic table. I think it's due to the mythic scale of everything - an onslaught of monsters storming a kingdom, being saved by a spirit, marriage to a spirit, becoming a half-spirit, the spirit world, a spirit daughter, the joy and adoration of the masses for a revered princely figure who actually isn't the main character, the cartoonish extremes certain aspects are portrayed like the almost inhumanly-proportioned greedy fat ogress woman, etc. The setting is the usual European-inspired fantasy world although character designs look classic anime. Not necessarily the most interesting premise - or I should say not necessarily the most interesting premise yet: It depends on how much and how well they use the science as a part of the plot and what other elements (no double entendre intended) they introduce to it later on. But it's definitely not the worst introductory episode to an isekai either, as there are plenty I'll drop after the first episode or even 15, 10, five, two minutes into it (yes, seriously). Whereas this one I'll give a further chance and look. I always wonder in isekai cases like this where the person did reincarnate and it's implied they originally knew that they were reincarnated from birth/at an early age (basically as soon as they were conscious) although we are joining them and starting the story with them already at an older age (eight years old now), whether mentally they still identify more with their former life (Japanese research scientist) or see themselves more fully as this new person now. As an audience member, when we are introduced to them first as the new person and either don't see their former life at all or see it only very briefly with one or minimal quick shots then I see them more as the new person whereas something like Mushoku Tensei I definitely see the main character more as the original Japanese man's consciousness. It depends also, I guess, on how they act and how much they bring it up afterward throughout the story. |

....it being an isekai is only relevant for her to generate elements....like did it really have to be an iseaki.... Besides all that, this seems like a cute, but at times seinen looking anime which has piqued my interest :} I really like the main family and Ellen gets a cool thumbs up from me after watching this episode, I just hope they can keep this momentum all season. Ellen's eyes do look like jewels, which i think is pretty neat :} |
