| I don't care as long as they aren't talking shit. Third person pronouns are not used to describe yourself to begin with but to describe other people than yourself which is why I think it is stupid for anyone to overly be concerned with it. I kind of would rather English did not bother gendering third person pronouns since it is easy to be mistaken on someone which can cause confusion and offense which causes problems. It already does not gender first person or second person, why third person? It is easier to identify someone by their name or more obvious physical characteristics like their hair colour or what clothes they are wearing. The tough part is figuring out what the general neutral third person pronouns would be. Gender neutral singular "they/their/theirs/themselves" (actually last one should be "themself" not "themselves" for singular) has too many issues with it being confused for plural and making the masculine forms the gender neutral doesn't seem right either but if it was Id mix it up and say go "he/her/hers/herself" because this just seems oddly more logically consistent in phoneme patterns. |

"It" even if you could somehow get people over the connotations of a lesser being it mixes up living things with non living things so you wind up with sentences like "it hit it" which becomes extremely ambiguous requiring the avoidance of "it" all together. For a while I thought of using the old form of "it" which is "hit" but that gets funnier with "hit hit hit". |
