What is your criteria for franchise ? Some IPs are naturally bigger than others.

I really wish Red Sonja, Power Girl, Wonder Woman, Vampirella, Xena, Darna, Taarna, Aeon Flux, Cavewoman, Dejah Thoris, Shanna/Sheena would gt an anime but i'm happy Witchblade got one.

@tchitchouan Anything that originates from the West no matter how huge or small. For sure I agree about Witchblade. Deltora Quest also comes to my mind as another one that got an anime.

@tchitchouan A great selection, we need to contact someone from Japan and get this to happen! It might kick-start a new Ecchi era.

@minzera Oh absolutely, it's literally an untapped treasure trove of peak western bikini armor ecchi comics that desperately need an animated adaptation.

My favorite films are too borirng to become profitable anime. I also don't think they have anything to game from animation.
An action comedy with a teenage/young adult cast like Kick Ass though has potential.

everything is getting an anime, your childhood lunchbox might as well be next.
As a Purists i will argue that unless it’s born and raised in Japan, it’s just anime-inspired.
An anime of Wonder Woman would probably take the dommy mommy trope to the next level, and I've to make an exception.

@Zarutaku

Consdering we already have two Witcher animations, one of them was pretty good, I doN't see the point of getting it in anime form, especially when most Western IPs in anime form were a letdown so far.

Cyberpunk Edgerunners is an exception, not the norm, and honestly I wouldn't rate it any higher than 6, but that's just me.

Warhammer 40k pretty much has content that would easily outstrip One Piece in length.

So sure, why not that one? Honestly, I don't know how many studios or creatives I would trust in the anime industry, to do a work like that. 40k works off horror and grim realities, how are you going to sell that to Japanese otaku? Maybe if you make a hot inquisitor or sisters of battle the MCs IDK. Amazon is going all in on it, and I bet it's going to be live action, which you an do, that said, anything big in that universe would benefit from animation. Owlcat has been capturing the tone well, in their trailers for their RPGs, and that is kinda what I would like to see.

Also lots of Western fantasy books, Mistborn, Wheel of Time, even the current books I am reading like the Powder Mage Trilogy. I mean even romantasy books would better than a lot of these isekai titles. Currently, reading His Orc Charioteer Bride, which I would take over a lot of those isekai LN adaptions.

Yes, but they don't cover the main story.

True, but The Witcher is from the same company that made Cyberpunk 2077 so if they let it adapt the same way again, then prospects of success seem high enough, although I doubt it would be more popular than the live action adaptation, so that might hinder the success.

It's a shame nobody adapted any more of Emily Rodda's books after the success of Deltora Quest. What I wouldn't give to see Rowan of Rin or The Key to Rondo or The Three Doors trilogy.

This would kind of be cheating as it's a property adapting an adaptation of a Japanese franchise, but I think an anime series based off the Boom Studios Power Rangers comics would go really hard since those books really expanded on the cast of the 90's Live action series and has recently created their own new all star team of some of the best characters across the 30 year legacy of power. It isn't like Japan is completely unfamiliar with the Power Rangers either since MMPR (including both movies), Turbo (including the movie), In Space, Lost Galaxy, Lightspeed Rescue, SPD, Mystic Force, Samurai, and Dino Force Brave (the Korean sequel to "Power Ranger Dino Force" a dub of Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger) have all been dubbed into Japanese, with Power Rangers SPD's dub being directly mentioned in Episode 2 of Akibaranger. The Western side of the Power Rangers brand has been pretty much in a state of limbo when it comes to Television, so even if it's something like an anime based off of the comics that would greatly help revive the brand as it desperately needs something new and the comics have plenty of storylines for animators to draw from that wouldn't really be possible in a live action setting.
This post is brought to you by your local transfem gamer goblin. Will not tolerate bigotry and will fight against "anti-woke" sentiment to make the anime community a safer place.

Power Rangers is not an adaptation of a Japanese franchise, namely Japanese tokusatsu franchise Super Sentai, but simply based on it, so it should be okay.

More Lovecraft. It's a shame H. P. Lovecraft's The Dunwich Horror and Other Stories this is the only adaptation on MAL and as far as I've found only "major" one.

And anyways Gou Tanabe has already adapted a lot of stuff into great manga and I'd love to see actual anime based on those. The manga has the style down already and the source material has been around forever.

Could even be modern style adaptations like Colour out of Space with Nicholas Cage. That was a fun movie and an okay adaptation for the modern times.

@Nysse I got an interesting work for you if you are into Lovecraft Cthulhu mythos. The Visual Novel Demonbane is Gen Urobuchi's first take on the mythos, his second being the visual novel Saya no Uta. Demonbane even has an anime adaptation, although not very good. There is also a fun 2010s romcom which was a parody take on the mythos where the Gods are cute anime girls. https://myanimelist.net/anime/11785/Haiyore_Nyaruko-san

@minzera Cool thanks for the recommendations, I might try the VN's even tho I kinda dislike the medium. But the subject matter might make it okay. Like with DMMD, that shit's wild and the anime of it took all the gay out of it. Which sounds like what happened with Demonbane

A Regular Show anime would be kinda funny. I don't know what they'd even do with it, but I'd sit down to watch that. Or maybe King of the Hill. Don't really have any western franchises I care for enough to specifically want a new show of, though if an actually good adaptation came out I'd probably get around to watching it eventually.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a game I've been playing that would work well as an anime.

But, the one western franchise I really want an anime for is Mistborn. Having Wit Studio and the whole Attack on Titan team animating it would be a godsend. The way the characters move around is kinda like the 3D maneuvering gear but with magic.

I was pleased to see Invader Zim mentioned, I definitely think it would do great as an anime! Gir seems like the perfect candidate to be on the lil anime animal creature sweethearts list alongside the likes of Chopper and Monokuma. I could see Gumball as an anime too. The showrunners even mentioned old cutesy anime mascots like Doraemon being one of the inspirations for the characters.

For movies, Star Trek comes to mind (which was also mentioned in the thread) but specifically the 2009-2016 versions. I love the modern movies so damn much, and I've always wanted an anime adaptation of them.

A suggestion that might be coming out of left field is Smokin' Aces. But like, for what bad reception it got for having "too many plotlines" or "constant tonal shifts," I think it would work perfectly as a 6-12 episode anime series for those reasons. That and obviously its batshit balls-up-the-walls action and kooky characters. Like, the Tremor Brothers are your textbook psycho killers with ridiculous weapons and insatiable bloodlust that fit in just wonderfully with their anime brethren. And an animated Georgia would definitely make a lot of people's waifu lists lol. I firmly believe it'd be liked way more as an anime, since each group of characters could have an episode to themselves where they could be properly fleshed out and viewers would have more time to connect with each one, unlike the gripes had with the movie. Also, anime is great with mixing comedy and absolute carnage, so the tonal shifts wouldn't be a problem at all. I just love this movie to death and from the moment I watched it, I could picture it as an anime or a video game. It would be so kickass. On that note, time to rewatch it!
