Animation is higher quality, with smoother action sequences, which is really important for Solo Leveling with the reputation it has. And even the voice acting has more oomph to it.

I'll be honest this episode was cringe as shit, production quality is great as always, but fuck does Jin-Woo's third puberty hit that massive sigma dudebro cringe notes so hard lol (You know what else is massive? He's even got a low taper fade. His voice even went comically deeper. That had me rolling.)

He's not fully boring gigachad just yet, some moments of vulnerability are nice. But still, the show's habit of making apparently high-levelled hunters worse than him to further up the idea of his lone path becoming increasingly stronger is so tired.

But I suppose that's how power fantasies work, no? But, like... Does it really have to be? The story is shaping up to make every other character incredibly unlikeably incompetent just for Jin-Woo to be the stoic savior of the day. And shit, save some for the eventual payoff when Jin-Woo's actual strength is revealed to every hunter at large changing his social status to weakest loser to revered badass. I don't even dislike Jin-Woo as a concept cause he's actually worked for his strength and he has a personality, vulnerabilities and character motivations to root for. But every other character is so one-dimensional in comparison. Only there to serve varying reactions to his real strength based on their character archetype and preestablished relationship with him. And as riveting Jin-Woo's "Solo Levelling" is, this episode sends us conveniently back to another freak situation from a strange set of circumstances. Jin-Woo, of course, is the only one seemingly competent enough to break everyone out of the red gate, the introduced A-rank that I couldn't even remember the name of, given a sour, grumbling personality on top of being written into a situation he cannot solve through his own strength, to also make Jin-Woo the more amicable one while he hides his true power. The asshat's little brother from last season's also hunting him now personally too, to note. I don't find this to be a strong first episode for the season at all. But I suppose people are just happy Solo Levelling is back with just the same animation quality and passion that went through its debut. I'm hoping for better episodes moving forward.

Solo Leveling is back and off to an amazing start! This season's OP is great, but I think the first one was better. The ED is visually stunning though.

Sung Jin-Woo is getting cooler and cooler with each scene. I didn't remember his voice changing this much, and now he doesn't even care about hiding his strength. Dong-Su's revenge against him won't go the way he expects, I already want Sung Jin-Woo to come out of the red portal to beat him up.

And speaking of cool characters, Igris is oozing with style as she takes down that ice bear!

Wow, awesome episode!
Finally the second season of Solo Leveling came out and the 1st episode is on fire.

The dungeon battle was insane, Sung Jinwoo looks better than never had before.

Great episode. Despite the hiatus it was pretty easy diving back into the this world though hearing the voice of the sis gave me instant PTSD.

So Jin-Woo's levle of expertise has been thoroughly cemented but I still wonder how he actually measures up in terms of rank right now. I wouldn't want to believe he manages to stay E-Rank after a red gate.

With regards to the next episode. The tank will run straight for the other team, crying, wanting to take over leadership, trashtalking the MC etc. and the elves let it all happen in order to track down more prey.

Solo Levelling didn't waste time in getting back into action and why it's still really popular. The new OP from LiSA sounded great and even TK's ED song was good, backed up by some nice visuals.

It was also a reminder of how strong Sung Jinwoo has become compared to how he was at the beginning of the first season. Even with the whole raid party getting effected by the red gate, he remained calm and collected and looked after those who stuck with him while he too care to hunting down the monster polar bears. Seeing him unleash his shadow army at them was entertaining, which became awesome when Igris was unleashed on the polar bear boss, which stood no chance at all.

All in all, it was very entertaining and I hope it stays that way for this second season. =)

That's not what i waited for. I thought it won't be so rushed. I thouhgt they will take their time like in S1, but it seems they plan to air the whole story in few seasons. So many things are left out, actually i didn't like the pace at all. I thought most of the season would be about the Red Gates and about other trivial things. Seems they will a lot faster but so many things would be cut, too bad for those who don't read. Also didnt like the elves at all, not what i assumed. Anyway not so good as it could be. Ut seems they after the visuals, fights are dull in the book and lacking, i hope they will do a gj will show us the good stuff.

I didn't realize S2 released. That A-guy and those that followed him messed up really bad.
I was scared we weren't going to see his new power, but we got to see it. I'm not a fan of the looks but it's accurate/fitting for a necromancer->Shadow Monarch. Kind of like Nekros in Warframe.
Most of his pawns are better for keeping small fry busy, but only MC & Igris have any real power backing them. I really hope Arise includes animals because want to see the Bear join the team.

Dude only brought her to scare her out of being hunter where he could easily make sure she doesn't actually get hurt, not a death battle. Wouldn't be surprised if Red Gate is entirely because of him entering, though we didn't see a quest start up.

LiSA opening and TK ending. I recognize them so easily now. I'm feeling 8/10 for start overall, but that's just the feeling I have, don't have any critiques to improve. After this dungeon, and beating up that guy outside, he won't be able to stay secret anymore.

It literally picks up with a bang, delivering an exciting and visually stunning return. It does a fantastic job of reintroducing fans to the world and its characters, diving straight into action with high-stakes moments and impressive battles. The animation quality has taken a noticeable step up, with fluid fight sequences and a darker, more polished aesthetic.

The story progresses smoothly, setting up new mysteries and challenges for the protagonist, Sung Jin-Woo, while maintaining the intensity fans love. There’s a perfect balance of action, character development, and world-building. It’s an exceptional start to the season, and if the momentum keeps up, this could be an even stronger continuation than the first.

Nothing happened in this episode they just fought some bears of various sizes. If red gates prevent reinforcements from coming why call for reinforcements and if the bad guys already know the gate is a red gate why bother even showing up if their stated purpose was to get a look at the MC when everyone knows you can't enter it... and all they do is stand around and talk about how they can't enter the red gate which the MC already explained twice on the other side where moments before he asked for help that can't come... so much talking not much showing.

In terms of summoning the cost of summoning the mook shadows vs the mage/hero shadows seems almost nothing but resummoning the mooks drains more MP (All of it) than summoning the heros which makes no sense why bother summoning weaker shadows when you can just spam the hero unit one repeatedly for the same minimal MP cost and zero MP drain while they are summoned out. Since there is also seemingly no MP cost to having them summoned long term why not just keep them summoned always.

This show is just following the generic isekai MC is the best better than the rest ad infinum with an MC who bumbles into success constantly.

Yep, you didn't pay attention to the episode...

Red gates are shut and mana doesn't flow out, they don't know what difficulty it is. It could be S rank, which could destroy the country.
If the party inside dies the gate becomes open again, and the main attack force can go inside. Clearing a high difficulty dungeon takes time and they have to start immediately before a dungeon break occurs.
Red gates are unpredictable, calling the main attack force when something unexpected happens is both logical also required by the Hunters Association.

Regarding your second paragraph I have no idea what you wrote or what your problem is. But I'll try to answer nonetheless.
Jinwoo had no idea how the summons will perform and had to take them for a test drive. Resurrected soldiers are weaker than they were during their lifetime.
Summoning doesn't drain mana because they are stored in his Shadow Storage. Healing shadow soldiers is what consumes mana.

Just because you can't understand an anime cause of your lesser intellect doesn't make it bad and generic show...
@Yaggamy If it was an S-rank portal, it would be 10 times bigger than it is now, the highest it could get is an A-rank portal if anything (to be extremely generous), but it is only revealed as a B-rank at most.

Also the most important question would be how come they don't take defensive measures against Hwang Dongsoo? The Hunter Association knows he came to cause trouble because of his brother's murder and they don't call any S-class to keep an eye on him or warn Thomas Andre that he could cause harm to Korea and cause diplomatic incidents between nations, this is very silly, considering that the Hunter Association should be watching over the citizens first and foremost.

And the guy is right this is a generic and silly show in many ways

@__andre__ Here I'm talking about shortcomings, it's not an opinion that they cut some things like some dialogues that would have been very useful for the presentation of some characters or the fact that the art of this anime is much worse than the art of the manhwa and they can't do it justice, especially regarding the faces, they are excessively elongated in the anime

@Confused_100 Bro, you can tell you're not really paying attention to details, since many dialogues focused especially on the hunter E between the teacher and Jinwoo which accentuated more the danger he could face, many dialogues also praised the power of the new A-rank hunter which introduced him to you better than the anime which really does a poor job of making you integrate with the group, etc... they even cut the number of Hunters in this episode, because from 14 they suddenly went to 10, which makes me wonder why? Saving on the budget? But to animate Jinwoo's punches on the bears they had the budget 😂, lol, then obviously they made some artistic choices in the final fight, but it only lasts 5 minutes in an episode in which the whole presentation for this mini arc fits so badly... I don't know why you say you went to reread the manhwa if you don't really notice these small but substantial differences, but you only notice them when the anime does something different from the manhwa...

Substantial… Bruh really didn’t try to give a good example but acted like 5 minutes of good fight scene is what makes this episode good.

Did you even read the manhwa by any chance because “the praise of A rank hunter” is in the next episode LMAO. Now go read it other than speaking nonesense and trying to hate, atleast know how to criticise.
@Confused_100 But what are you saying? I don't understand anything you're saying. And my criticisms are right since you haven't done anything to dismantle them...

@M1kasaYu1 If you read solo leveling you will understand why its not popular in japan. by next season when they cover jeju arc it is where the theme get sensitive as the series turn very nationalistic by making japanese characters as enemies and weak. a-1 might be changing a lot of stuff in season 3 guaranteed to avoid being targeted.
@Gilgamesh-71 From what I've seen on wikipedia and YT, there are 2 versions of this anime. One aimed at Japan (changed names and surnames), and for the rest of the world there is a version with the original names and surnames.

the first episode of solo leveling season 2 is straight fire! jin-woo is goated as always, and the animation is good, especially with the snow setting. the new enemies look promising, and the fight with Igris vs the bear pack leader was so well animated—super intense. dong-su, voiced by the legend junichi suwabe who voiced (grimmjow, sukuna, yami), is def gonna be an amazing villain. the episode set up so much hype, can’t wait for the next one!

I will be rather disappointed if this story pulls some last minute switch thing that prevents him from awakening his mother.

I almost feel like the game is leading up to some kind of betrayal, even though it seems to be rooting for him most of the time. But maybe that's just being paranoid.

They’ve started the season in one of the best ways possible. Hwang Dongsoo’s appearance before the red gate and his imminent destruction on the horizon definitely instills feelings of anxiety for the viewers, because you really cannot predict how the story will unfold. Jin-woo’s identity being unraveled by the higher rankings also adds to the uncertainty.

Like the first season, it is incredibly done in terms of its visual aspects, I love the art and also what seems to be a more elite ice demon magic beast army at the end of the episode. The animations are nice, but would not say it’s extraordinary.
