Kirishima just can't stay out of trouble again sigh I think it's a blessing in disguise now that Yoshino is deeply involved with him. And the moment she had a bat in her hand, there was no doubt she'd use it. Kirishima isn't the type to get intimidated so of course he'd stand his ground too. |

Tsubaki and Shouma have great chemistry, I love how they tease each other and get on each other's nerves. Seems Yoshino found out Kirishima is a pro at rock-paper-scissors and he got it from his great uncle, Yoshino never stood a chance against him lol. I love how protective Renji is of Yoshino, he noticed she hid her bruises from the Osaka incident last episode under make-up and beat both Shouma and Kirishima for letting it happen. Renji seems blasé and carefree when it comes to Yoshino but underneath that façade he cares a lot, especially since he already lost a son and losing Yoshino would break him. Love how brave and reckless Yoshino is to come with a bat and interrupt their fight, slay queen. Love Yoshino's seiyuu, she sounds so badass. So sad there's only one episode left. Gotta enjoy this while it lasts. |

I'll begin with serious comment so people won't skip reading my opinion: Kirishima's purpose of picking up fight with Shouma is not about hiding the fact that Renji aka Yoshino's granpa hurt him. Yoshino lives with her grandpa for a long time and she's definitely know he has to discipline his men by violence, and she's definitely know that her grandpa discipline both Kirishima and Shouma too. Still, Kirishima has no choice but to fight with Shouma, it's a way to pay respect to Yoshino's family, it's the thought that counts, to show her that "hey I attempt to hide my injury caused by your grandpa, I'm such a loyal man!". Now my thirst comment: I'm thinking about what if I get a chance to have some hot yakuzas interest in me, but in exchange my chance of dying increase multiple times. It may seem like a high risk, but after Kirishima and Shouma taking off their shirt at the same time, I'm like "maybe it's the risk worth dying for" LOL, Also, if Kirishima (and Shouma) can have multiple women, then it'd only be fair to see Yoshino taking both Kirishima and Shouma at the same time. The more the merrier! |

Pretty boy slapfight with a purpose! Though Grandpa Renji hasn't gotten much screen time, you can tell he really does care for Yoshino, and doesn't approve of Kirishima dragging her into trouble. Another character we've been missing, Tsubaki, also makes her return. Shouma finally gets some depth here in the form of his feud with Tsubaki and an off-screen ex-girlfriend. I'm still not convinced this character even exists outside of Yoshino, but this just might have to do. One episode remaining. It's been hit and miss, but this anime definitely has its moments. |

Yoshino with a baseball bat. If that don't send chills down your spine... I wish the fights had been better animated though. I am convinced this series is already due a remake by a better studio. |

My favorite parts of this series are always when it goes from normal to full-on crazy; Somei going from doting grandpa to vicious yakuza boss beating the hell out of someone after playing some golf is a perfect example. Man, you knew things were going to go south when he mentioned the soundproofing, I was almost surprised there wasn't a golf club involved. lol |

Animation was ass, but we finally got Shoma v Kirishima! Kirishima really knows how to push Shoma’s buttons and what to say to make him upset(bring up Yoshino) lmao. All that being an elaborate ruse to get out of Yoshino seeing Kirishima’s injuries from her grandad was smart though and it did work out. Good thing Yoshino got there in time to stop them from seriously hurting each other. Kind of a gamble that Kirishima took when he brought out knives.. also can we talk about the fact Yoshino can stalk Kirishima so easily and get his location lmao. She better be careful she doesn’t turn into him Making the boys switch shirts is so cute, Yoshino is like the mom of the group even though they’re supposed to protect her. Love how Yoshino set the record straight too with Kirishima. “You’re my boyfriend because of Shoma, get it straight. You go girl stand up for your bestie “Life with you wouldn’t be so bad” ahhh they’re so cute, I’d love an AU fanfic with this more since we already know Kirishima gonna win in the end. But damn I love all of Shoma and Yoshino scenes together and how they mess with one another. It kinda feels like the show might be setting up Shoma and Tsubaki tho? Having to quit smoking would be the dealbreaker for Shoma tho. ๐ one more episode to go :/ |

Can't believe we only have 1 episode left! That's crazy, these 3 months went by so fast! About this episode, I just have to say that I loved it. I really feel like these last few episodes have been so good, the first 6 episodes were really only setting up the plot for the anime. In this episode we got to see the repercussions of Kirishima's actions from the past few episodes. Some people were complaining how Kirishima was just doing whatever he wanted without any repercussion, like the rest of the Yakuza didn't care, but I feel like this episode showed that was not true, and that Yoshino's grandfather wasn't happy about Kirishima messing in his territory. It's also interesting how Kirishima knew that he would get beaten up. Not only Yoshino's grandfather beat up Kirishima, he also beat up our boy Shouma. The poor guy was dragged to the situation by Kirishima, and gets beaten up too. But the way they directed this scene was really cool, when they showed Kirishima in that room with Renji, and they show the floor with blood and Renji just says "Ah, don't worry, Shouma was here before you", like that was cold. Renji may be old, but he's strong, like, wow. Kirishima taunting Shouma, because he is now dating Yoshino was such a low move from him, like, yes Shouma, show him what he deserves. The fight scene between the 2 was really cool, and honestly, we have been waiting this confrontation from the 2 ever since episode 3, so it was a really exciting scene in that regard. And then the Queen Yoshino appears at the scene to stop those 2. Honestly, this is one of the reasons why I enjoy this anime so much. Yoshino really plays a key role in the story, and isn't at the mercy of the male characters, like these kind of stories tend to do for some reason. Not only that, we saw in this episode that Yoshino is well aware that Shouma is having a hard time accepting that she's getting closer to Kirishima. Not only that, she showed very clearly how important Shouma was for her. She also put Kirishima in his own place, revealing that she only accepted to date him, so that he could have at least a "fair fight" with Shouma, since she has known Shouma for much longer, and made it implicit that if she had to choose 1 of the 2 to marry or save, it would certainly be Shouma, because he's much more special for her than whatever Kirishima is for her. So this way he gets an opportunity to grow closer to her, and actually have a chance with her. She also didn't really have a choice, since the Yakuza is forcing her to be with him (let's not forget the premise of the anime). It was also cute how Yoshino revealed that she actually "tamed" Shouma when he was younger and always getting into fights, turning him to a fine man now. That attitude of exchanging shirts can really be meaningful, especially for the 2 to start respecting each other, but I feel like she did this more for Kirishima's sake, since she knows he was the one to start the fight. Also, I have already seen that many people are grateful for the shirt exchanging scene for other reasons too xD But my favorite part of the episode was when Yoshino said that she wanted to talk with Shouma, shutting Kirishima off, and once again showing him he was stepping the line, and then having a intimate talk with Shouma. It was a really wholesome scene, that I think we all wanted to see, since we didn't get many scenes with Yoshino and Shouma until now, especially these more intimate ones, even though they are really close. The way Yoshino made sure to tell Shouma that she would appreciate to live with him for the rest of her life, and hugging him, and them Shouma hugging her back, and telling her the same, was really wholesome. Also, we got to know that Shouma actually has had some girlfriends, but he clearly isn't able to maintain a relationship, because the one that he loves is Yoshino. We needed this scene in the anime, and it came right when it needed in my opinion, especially since Yoshino's relationship with Kirishima was moving a step foward. Honestly, I think Shouma and Yoshino have a really good chemistry, and it's by far my prefered ship, but I really doubt it's getting real. Another thing this episode gave us was that Tsubaki and Shouma kinda hate each other, after Shouma entered the bathroom to take a shower, without knowing that Tsubaki was still taking a shower, and then they saw each other naked. It's funny how Tsubaki was ok with him seeing her naked, but she drawed the line when he didn't get an erection from seeing her naked, she was like "At least get an erection". But this hate relationship between the 2 is really pointing out to start turning into a romantic relationship I'm afraid, since that's a really popular trope, and this was the beginning of the set up for these 2 to get together. I might be wrong, but I really felt that was the case. But I agree with the people saying that the better ships are Yoshina X Shouma and Kirishima X Tsubaki. But I doubt that would ever happen. Overall, an amazing episode that gave us the the wholesome chemistry we needed between Yoshina and Shouma, that are my 2 favorite characters from the show, so I might be biased. However, I do think the anime is completely in the right direction, because even this episode didn't have a particular "arc" going on for it (like the past 3), it was still as good as the other 3, because the story is becoming really interesting, with all the relations between the characters. This is the only anime of this season that I'm watching that is actually ending this season, and I'm not prepared to watch Orb and Blue Box weekly, and not watch their companion Yakuza Fiancé :( Curious to see how the last episode of the anime is going to be, since this episode wasn't leading to any arc for a last rush in the final episode, and I don't know if they are ending the anime with a cliffhanger, or more of a closed ending, since the chances of this getting a 2nd season are null. However, since some chapters are going to be left to adapt, maybe we can get an OVA or something? ANYWAYS, DON'T FORGET, SHOUMA IS OUR BOY OF THE ANIME. |

It's also cool to get the confirmation that Renji actually cares a lot of Yoshino, since the 1st episode rubbed it off, but I always felt like he only sent her to Kirishima's side, because he knows something is about to happen in their clan. The anime has showed that she clearly understands how the Yakuza world works, and Tsubaki also hinted about that at the end of the episode. But at the same time, she really didn't do anything about it, and it might be to not hut Shouma and Kirishima's pride, or maybe she really doesn't know. |

Poor Yoshino never stood a chance against Kirishima ๐
. She inherited Gaku's rock-paper-scissors skills. Although Yoshino's grandfather seems mocking and unconcerned with her, he actually protects her and won't hesitate to punish anyone who puts her in danger. Undoubtedly, Shouma and Kirishima received their share of punishment. Maybe their attitude is due to their past and what happened to Yoshino's father. Hopefully, if there is another season, they will delve more into Renji and his family's past. The fight between Kirishima and Shouma was interesting and funny, especially with Yoshino stepping in to stop them. I still think Shouma and Yoshino, despite seeming like a good couple, have a more sisterly relationship. Shouma sees her as a sister, but would rather be with her than let her hang out with Kirishima. I even like the idea of Shouma and Tsubaki as a possible couple, especially with the hilarious story of how they met naked. |

However, since some chapters are going to be left to adapt, maybe we can get an OVA or something? ANYWAYS, DON'T FORGET, SHOUMA IS OUR BOY OF THE ANIME. I think your mis interpreting that chapter/scene was there to show us that this is a brother - sister relationship not a romantic one. It brings up talks of his on and off girlfriend showing he has romantic interest not including yoshino, and his comment “find someone who can kill me” is his way of saying that’s the only person he’ll approve of. The conversation at the end is reaffirming their relationship as close family who if it came down to it would be happy to live with one another. I’m not saying it couldn’t end up being romantic if they did settle for each other, but it’s clear the author has set this chapter up to A show that right now shouka is still undoubtedly the person she cares for the most and B that it isn’t romantically. She gives kirishima the boyfriend role for kirishima to feel like he’s level with shouma after living with him all her life. But that’s not implying she’s setting them up to compete evenly at all, it’s just to satisfy kirishima which obviously hasn’t fully worked even if the objective of his fight was to guise the beating they both took from Renji. |

I don't know if you read the manga or if you're an anime-only watcher, but if you didn't read the manga I think you might really like the Raise wa Tanin ga Ii side story: Futari Wa Teihen chapter that has the backstory of how Yoshino met Shouma years ago and how her grandfather, Renji, took Shouma in. It's a very good chapter that explains a lot, unfortunately you can read it only online since the Seven Seas physical manga volumes don't have that chapter. |

"You should've gotten hard at least" I like this version of running into a girl in the bath more than the trite ecchi version ala nosebleed followed by screaming panically and a beating. Gangster may laugh with you at the table, but they aren't playing. Yoshino is well aware of how her grandpa operates. Kirishima picking a fight with Shouma didn't fool her. At least it was good for the guys to blow off some steam and we wanted to see this anyway. |

Darn I was expecting something to pop off for the last couple of episodes with the bosses. I guess it's almost time to go read the manga. Was expecting Renji to bust his face in with the club. @hai_X_is I hope we'll get a second season as well, it all depends 1) if the manga volume sales are boosted by the anime (I myself bought the volumes before the anime) 2) if the anime was popular in Japan and internationally on Crunchyroll 3) most importantly if mangaka hasn't abandoned the story and will go back from the hiatus, the manga has been on hiatus for almost a year. At most I see OVA episodes covering the rest of the chapters in the manga. My heart will break if this story is going to be left abandoned and won't have a resolution/ending. This story had so much potential and it was only getting better and better. |

Kind of a bummer. I guess I can support the author on Bookwalker but dang, it's on hiatus.
Looks like they have 8 volumes out in Japan and the last came out in October of last year 0_0. Welp I guess that'll give me time to read along with other series.

Yoshino is a yakuza through n' through, also she may not acknowledge it. Since ep 2, I felt that boss vibes from her, although they were subtle and I could understand Kirishima's obsession with her. He's over-the-top mental and she's borderline. Shouma is the man! The strong, less said is more type, is my fav. Give him another addiction other than cigarettes and I 'might' have an issue - might. Pairing him with Tsubaki is a no no. What others consider verbal sparring, I took as insults; big difference. There had to be a reason he didn't stand at attention at first acquaintance, especially under those circumstances. With only one episode left, I'm going to the manga, which I hear has been on hiatus for a year. But I have to take what I can get. |

Sick to death of Yoshino. She's turned out to be a complete idiot. Will be happy when this one ends. |

I love Yoshino and Shouma's relationship. Something like siblings and best friends, they go so well together. Shouma is a strong character foil to Kirishima, without being a love rival. How often do you see that in a romance series? This series is such a good guilty pleasure, it literally gave me an addiction to yakuza in fiction xP |

It was also cute how Yoshino revealed that she actually "tamed" Shouma when he was younger and always getting into fights, turning him to a fine man now.

I will give it a read, because it seems to be really interesting! joshlill said: I think your mis interpreting that chapter/scene was there to show us that this is a brother - sister relationship not a romantic one. Well, that puts a new lens on this scene for me. But I still find it hard to believe that Shouma isn't romantically interested in Yoshino, especially because they have been hinting that since episode 3. Yes, they are shown to have more of a brother and sister relationship, but it's also mainly because they have been living together for so long, and it's probably hard for Shouma to change that dynamic if he's indeed interested with Yoshino. But I might have not explained in my original post, but I do agree that Yoshino only sees Shouma as a brother right now at least. But I don't know about Shouma. What you said makes complete sense, but it's also weird for him to be so jealous of Kirishima when he doesn't have any interest in her. He might be confused on what he feels about Yoshino though. But thank you for the post, it made me rethink this scene a lot, and I completely see what you're saying! |

Don't care about the shoujo/josei elements but whatever. Not much going on this episode anyway. |

I'm much enjoying this guilty pleasure anime. It's interesting to me that it's basically the plot of something relatively cute and silly like Nisekoi, yet so much darker. I wonder about the weird sexual dynamic (for a mainstream anime anyway) though. Evidently, it's Ok for the nominal male MC to be a philanderer, but it's the default assumption that the lady of the piece is not ready for such physical goings on, despite being on the edge of adulthood herself. It's OK for her to sell her kidney, but a kiss would be going too far, it seems. Perhaps the series climax will involve her in something really lewd though, like handholding. Fantasies about darkly handsome yet dangerous himbos aside, it's hard to imagine these toxic people forming stable and healthy relationships, in the end. In fact, for all the "Now, boys, you had best stop fighting and behave." vibes we get in this episode, I do wonder if Yoshino's new relationship won't eventually just drive her to more and more personal violence. I mean, I'll bet she has probably been in more fights since meeting her fiancé than she has previously experienced in her whole life. And she sure gets pulled into his schemes pretty easily. Wil she "fix" him in the usual shoujo story tradition, or will the twist be that she just becomes more corrupt and violent over time under his influence herself? |

The more the merrier!

ugh so many good anime this season. I don't want this one to be over. Second lead syndrome is so damn real. I wish Shoma and Yoshino would get together and happily ever after. I would prefer Shoma but obviously, childhood friends never win :( |
