So I was browsing art , and I seen this nana art. I was surprised to see it was ai generated considering it matched the art style very well.

Here is a misaka ai

Do you think ai will have a larger aspect in the industry. I never expected ai to replicate art styles.

ai will replace a lot of workers but not all of them

funny because 5 years ago people are sure that creativity or art will not be automated by ai but here we are

although current ai models the large language models are hitting diminishing returns now so they need better new ai models

AI needs to steal from real artist to even function so no.
"among monsters and humans, there are only two types.
Those who undergo suffering and spread it to others. And those who undergo suffering and avoid giving it to others." -Alice
“Beauty is no quality in things themselves: It exists merely in the mind which contemplates them; and each mind perceives a different beauty.” David Hume
“Evil is created when someone gives up on someone else. It appears when everyone gives up on someone as a lost cause and removes their path to salvation. Once they are cut off from everyone else, they become evil.” -Othinus

I hope not because art is something that is inherently human. AI can only regurgitate existing ideas into Frankensteined slop. AI images also have lots of major issues as it doesn't really understand the fundamentals of art and why artists deliberately make certain decisions, and it has kind of hit a plateau in its improvement because Gen AI is having an incestuous relationship with itself as it scrapes more images off the web, since google search results are being flooded by AI already.
This post is brought to you by your local transfem gamer goblin. Will not tolerate bigotry and will fight against "anti-woke" sentiment to make the anime community a safer place.

A lot of AI already replaced artists - movie posters, commercials [like the holiday coca-cola commercial, it's just tragic] some intros to movies, this will happen more often and nothing can stop it. I can only hope that AI will get used for concepts and ideas, not for the whole animation and artistic process, cuz without the human hand everything will become cheap AI slop, still a lot of artists and studios won't use AI so I don't think that "replacing" will truly happen, still AI is cheaper and corporation are well greedy.

It's weird reading hot takes on AI (that has exploded in capability over a mere two and half years) based on Google lobotomization and the worst of the bunch lol.

@GrimAtrament You don't understand copyright law, look at any AI-generated image and tell me what substantial similarity it has to a copyright work.
You also don't understand the artistic process, every artist's output is affected by countless things they have seen, many of which are copyright works, which is obviously fine, but people (actually just weird drawcels on Twitter) call it stealing in the case of AI (if you think it's majorly or fundamentally different, you don't understand the technology), obviously applying that standard to real people is completely untenable but it's still a double standard if you apply it to one but not the other.
Also, "Good artists copy, great artists steal"

@LSSJ_Gaming Very few people actually care about how much work it took to create the media they consume, it's fine if you do but don't expect it to be something the public at large will miss or even notice if it's gone.

I don’t think so. I don’t think artificial intelligence can replace artists. I still prefer artwork from real artists over stuff created by AI. Yeah, the AI stuff can be beautiful, but there’s just something off about it.

If it makes better anime in quicker times I hope It does
I've looked to make a real anime waifu,
Too spin my world around like a typhoon,
Why do people keep calling me a raccoon,
Maybe because I keep stealing anime girls hearts like gru steals the moon.

Never. Art requires sentience, which involves imagination and inspiration. At best, all AI can do is copy/paste per a programmer's instructions. It cannot do anything truly artistic.

I worked with AI professionally. Believe me, no matter the hype, it ain't never happening. I worked in robotics for 30 years and we still have workers. Some of us might remember 20 years ago that VR was the coming revolution, and none of us were ever leaving our chair again, let alone the house. How's that worked out for anyone besides NEET gamers? History just repeats itself. Only the names are changed to protect the guilty.

AI is all just a scam. It is not like it will prevent Near Term Human Extinction from happening. Forget about that AI stuff. It solves absolutely nothing. All it might allow is for the FBI to better survelliance the peons/slaves.

I hope not, god (or nature, if you're an atheist) forbid that if anything written by AI, it'll lead to a very very crappy and generic storyline with any lack of creativities.

I feel like AI won't replace artists, but AI will be incredibly important in the future, I predict that in the future studios will have their own AI programs to help with background, background characters, in between scenes and so on

I hope not, while i actually like AI art and have played around with generative AI art too, i think it should only be used for personal entertainment purposes/non profit.

There's also still a lot of limitations to work out like bad anatomy (especially concerning hands & fingers, feet & toes, complex poses/being unable to draw unusual anatomy such as for human-like characters with animal parts etc.)

So you're saying the same old generic manga studio 'art' that the AI program copied and changed outfit and eye colors is somehow replacing..... what exactly?

This.

"AI" is not going anywhere without artists. "AI" is incapable of creating anything without scraping away years of study and hard work from real artists, be they illustrators, animators, writers, musicians, voice actors, etc. (...) And anyone who thinks that using these programs will result in better quality anime or movies is completely delusional.

Right now, we don't really know if AI art can be copyrighted (in the US it can't) so I don't think big studios are going to replace their artists... yet. It's all too new to tell.

Some of it perhaps will replace it. What I mostly think will be replaced is that how backgrounds are drawn. How cities and villages are perhaps shown but the making of a character, their signature features and such won't be able to be properly generated by the AI.

It will if consumers don't care enough to stop it from happening. Some companies are probably rock hard at the idea of not having to pay actual artists anymore. The real question, should it? And the answer is "fuck no" if you're anyone who cares about having a human touch to the art you consume.

People already give shit to things for feeling to samey. Imagine what would happen if studios were all using AI that were constantly pulling from the same sources. That's a great way to get more original content. And you know damn well the artists and writers whose works the AI were trained on aren't getting shit from that because that defeats the purpose of switching to AI.

AFAIK AI generated stuff isn't copyrightable, so if industry artists refuse to accept work where they're just retouching AI character designs or backgrounds I don't think it will take off on an industry level. Artists seem to be the most opposed group to AI in general so it wouldn't surprise me if workers decided to go on strike the moment an animation studio introduced AI.
I think more invested viewers would be put off or even angry on some level. Why would you watch an anime that not even the studio cares to make themselves? I assume that if viewership goes down for the first few partly AI generated anime studios will backtrack and drop the idea

AI will definitely be more present in the near future and it will probably replace some artists but I don't think it will ever be able to reach the level of human performance.
