This was an actual masterpiece of an episode. I 100% was not expecting this out of an anime that started the way it did.

I have a little daughter similar in that episode.. Image how hard I cried....
It's crazy how these series are pure comedy, but they serve the most emotional episode of the year.

Animated the backstory so well I almost cried just from the animation, and then I cried from the story.

Aira’s longing to see her mother somehow allowed her to encounter the ghost of a mother who had lost her daughter. What happened to Silky is truly tragic, but at least she got to relive one of her most cherished memories, being loved by her daughter.

I was watching this episode while my family was around. When I saw the arc of Acro Silky, it just really made me tear inside, like man I haven't felt this sad in many days. I literally wanted to cry but I had to control my tears because like I said in the beginning, family was around.

Man I'm also feeling real bad for idk what happened to her daughter.

This was the most beautiful episode. I teared up when the backstory with the child began along with that stunning OST.

It's really unfortunate that she couldn't see her own daughter who was taken away from her. But the fact that she found solace from being called mommy by a child who has no connection to her made this way more beautiful.

It wasn't about the premise of the episode. It was about the execution. The execution was beautiful and may be the most beautiful episode to be released this season.

It's frustrating how this show is so well-animated for how...

I don't know how to describe this. It feels like the script is lower quality than the show is, if that makes sense. Like a sauce that's not properly emulsified. There's core ideas that are awesome, but then there's core ideas that feel like they exist purely to generate infinite plot points for a manga or 60 episode anime season. Plot points that will feel under-baked if wrapped up in a 12 episode season.

And there's also the fact that this show is so HORNY yet hasn't done much to justify that, let alone justify the tonal hard shifts that come when it decides it's time for The Serious Episode where Things Are Serious and Sad, Actually.

The premise of what happens with the ghost and her backstory is perfectly fine and in a vacuum it's potentially a great episode.

In the same way Dandadan has not really justified the almost-rape scene in the first episode as a cheap power-activation gimmick, it didn't really earn switching from "look, the hot grandma's not wearing a bra so her boobs bounce when she runs!" to "actually this ghost you thought was just goofy evil is a sex worker who died under traumatic circumstances and we're gonna make you watch that happen."

Holy,they cooked so damn hard. Thought it was a pretty nice tragic backstory in the manga, here I was left speechless. Science SARU elevating the emotional highs to another level altogether. This may be the adaptation that will bring them universal recognition within the anime community.

Here's the ballet scene from the manga. Anime was quite a bit subtler about it's implication (and the prostitution as well)

they actually changed the part where acro silky was shown as a prostitute, right? And made it so that she worked multiple jobs to support her and her daughter as a single mother raising her child. They did a commendable job nonetheless, but I was wondering if the prostitute part was also there, alongside her working multiple jobs (which might've been added on top of it for even more emotional impact), or was it removed from Netflix/specifically censored in my region?! Reading some of the comments here, it seems like they did change that altogether, after all.

@KusarigamaD10S

Well, anime was subtle, but the prostitution implication was still here with her waking up in a hotel room and money on the table. The manga had panels with a customers putting their clothes on while she was sitting on the bed anime. Her working multible jobs was also in the manga.

i agree the first three episodes are very different. i think since the ghosts stories cat plot device was set up it got a lot better. i think the beginning will deter some viewers from continuing

Huge subversion of expectation. Grabbed me emotionally and tore me to shreds, cried like a little bitch.

Amazing hook at the beginning of the episode, fantastic end to the fight, and the backstory was executed perfectly. The manga got the message and meaning through well, but the anime built upon it and delivered incredibly beautifully.

This adaptation overall is one of the few cases that are better than the manga imo.

@LordKenji3011 I like to believe it's Aira herself, she have different hair color, but it's not problem to make her dye it, and dad himself could hire goons to kidnap her.
@kamil88

Airas mum died but had the same colour hair as the girl. For all we know Aira could be her grandchild.
