Truly incredible. A great story with unparalleled metaphors and attention to the concept of obsession in sports and in life. 9/10

Beautiful artwork that kept evolving into something incontestably majestic. I'm conflicted with all else.

Mori isn't a terrible character but sometimes Sakamoto or Nabeda would forget about everyone else. Characters quickly became footnotes within Mori's journey and would only appear when the story needed to double down on making him as miserable as possible. Seriously, almost every character has the incentive to ooze appalling behavior with little to no redeeming qualities. We don't get a lot of time with these characters either. They're here, they're nasty to Mori; rinse and repeat. As if their entire personality is tailored to pointless cruelty. This made flashback scenes about their personal lives less impactful to me.

Every climber is inept to Mori. Seasoned mountaineers are rendered useless, reckless and idiotic in comparison. Only Mori is meticulous, calculating and disciplined. Characters that could have potentially rivaled his reputation ended up dying off page, with hazy details. Forgotten about altogether.

Too bad, although it was still a joy and worth the read for the panels that left me speechless. The pages that related sunrise to that of a grand orchestra, spilling through the mountain's valley, as rays of light took over its peaks- stunning! I'll never forget these moments.

Kokou no Hito (The Climber) Is undeniably my favourite manga of all time and after reading this finale chapter that seals the deal. I've loved the manga from start to finish and I recommend everyone should atleast check this manga out. Seeing how Mori has changed as a person throughout the story was a wonderful journey to watch.

This last chapter is a masterpiece. Seeing the changed Mori struggle to climb a rock after climbing the K2 eastern face and being one hell of mountaineer was beautiful. The consequences pursuing mountain climbing really show as he lost many toes and many fingers.

The art in this manga is also top tier with every panel looking amazing no matter the scene.

Utter masterpiece of an ending. Im so happy i read this manga it's truly changed my life forever and will forever be my all time favourite manga.

The greatest conclusion in animanga history

Though I have so much more to say about this PEAK manga and I'll probably comeback to edit this later on I'll leave it at this.

Pretty good read. It started off like shit (I remember dropping the manga because I was not interested), but I gotta say, it was worth it to keep reading to witness the KINO PEAK of the 14 mountain arc aswell as the last couple of chapters in this manga. Seeing Mori mature from a loner who indirectly got his sensei killed into a married man was truly an incredible journey. He yearned for loneliness, and then later, he yearned for companionship.

I guess there were SOME consequences to climbing k2, as his mountaineering career is pretty much dead (which I assume that's what the one panel of "the immortal katou buntaro is dead" meant. not that he actually died, but moreso his career is over). seeing him lose everything from climbing k2 sucked, but atleast he was smiling in the end. even if he cant climb bigger mountains, he still has family to look forward to. thats another benefit of companionship i suppose.

i kinda found it icky that everyone from 14 mountain died from the all traversal, while mori was able to climb k2 all by himself. i felt like it kinda went against the themes of how you cant mountain climb solo. you NEED a group, or YOU WILL DIE. but i guess not? eh, whatever i guess. i can suspend my disbelief for the time being considering how superhuman mori is. maybe it also shows how loneliness can be better than companionship...(?) but thats only if your companions are incompetent dumbasses like takemura and that one vice captain...

with that being said, im kinda glad that this manga didnt focus too much on the side characters anyway. its clear that this manga is a character study of mori and mori alone. there's no need for extra filler fluff. this manga was very well paced in that regard.

overall, crazy ass adventure. i loved most parts of it.
the artwork was simply a treat to the eyes, every couple of panels i'd genuinely just gaze at it like a louvre painting. awesome stuff. the opera, nighthawk imagery of niimi's death, mori in space being hopeless, and the final "amazing grace" panels are all highlights that i wont forget.

shinichi truly cooked.

The rope at the end was mountain keeping his promise to Buntaro of keeping him safe for spending time with them. Even after he lost his fingers and toes he survived which matters the most.

I like it how Mori was "NOOOOOOO I GOTTA DESCEND BACK TO MY FAMILYRINOOOO" but then went "ACSHWALLY...!" and summited K2.

The "climbing unconsciously" and "rope to the Southeast ridge" were kind of a copout at the end, but its was fine I guess. The author needed an excuse for Mori to summit without being an a**hole and a way to return, but it felt a bit cheap.

All in all it was a great manga, many feels about isolation and existential aloness. I've read the whole thing in 2 days, it was truly amazing and I consider it a masterpiece.

Thought the angel kid never appearing again just to be found dead at K2 kinda funny.

Takemuras death was brutal, poor guy, but he kind of had it coming.

Wish we got more of Mori after his return, but the panel that shows him sitting on top of a rock with a few fingers was really cool, I understood that as his spirit not being broken and him still doing his solo free climbings in the way he could. Sure he wont summit k2 again, but he can still horse around rocks.

It was great

Thus it ends honestly the manga was great up until chap 1-90 then it kinda become boring for some parts this last volume was awesome how shinichi did the ending of this manga... Tho some parts haven't explained yet about Mori past and that boy who appeared at the beginning of the tournament.

Moria past was explained, he saw a classmate commit suicide in front of him and couldn't say anything to save her. He eas the inly witness and people blamed him for being unable to stop it or created rumors about it, then Mori shut himself to people.

The boy at the tournament indeed seemed like an important character at first indeed, but the writer changed after volume 3 and that plot point was dropped. But he did reaper though, he was the dead angel kid frozen at K2. It felt though that the author just kind of reminded of that plot point and decided to tighten a loose end.

That was a rather abrupt ending but the message was really wonderful, the way it was expressed that Mori's climbing spirit disappeared but he survived was magical, but I would have hoped for a clearer ending even if that wouldn't have fit the style of the manga
