Still not buying the dragon blood is actually good for Subaru, there must be a catch otherwise Capella wouldn't have poured that on him. (and from the looks of it it's fucking up Crusch real bad) So yeah for now it looks like it helps him with getting his leg back but I expect it to screw him over in an important moment. lol |

Some LN Extra Details (Volume 18 Chapter 1.2-2.5 )
- Number 184 warns Emilia to not mention Subaru's name in front of Regulus. It might irk him and make him doubt of Emilia's virginity.
- Dragon blood is one of the three great treasures left to the royal family of Lugunica by the Holy Dragon. It is told to grant abundance to withered lands, rejuvenates all destructions, heals the most incurable illnesses in an instant, and becomes a light to wash away despair
- Liliana is mad at Priscilla when she slanders the dragon blood.
- Priscilla reminds Subaru that any actions taken will have consequences. In this case, half-hearted attacks on the city hall and failed makes the situation worse.
- Subaru mentions to Priscilla that that Al was with them until they split up. She said that she does not really care for him and cared more on looking for Schult because of his irreplaceable charms.
- Anastasia mentions that they found out that they can still communicate with the dragon and the people that became flies. They are still conscious and willing to follow directions. They are brought to the separate shelter
Differences from LN
- Subaru's leg supposed to be black
- Priscilla grazes Subaru's neck instead of stabbing it
- After Priscilla defeats the demi-demon, Liliana found an injured person. Subaru quickly went and does a first aid, which is taught by his mentor. Then he carries him to the shelter as well.
- Three demi-beast are chasing Subaru instead of one.
- Subaru shows his leg to Anastasia as well during the discussion.

It's a nice episode, but it's convenient how the dragon blood suddenly healed Subaru's leg (with shoe and all), this way he won't even think of killing himself to start over because he won't do much without a leg. Not much to talk about in this episode other than Priscilla being a badass, and Crusch becoming fugly... goddamn it, Subaru my guy, what are you even waiting for? just kill yourself to fix Crusch up, and do it fast before the checkpoint is saved and you can't fix her up anymore. And what's up with the ending? is that armored guy the mastermind behind the whole thing or is it a red herring? |

White Fox have just taken things to the next level this season. Another incredible episode. Priscilla was my fave part of this arc in the books, other than the Van Astrea family reunion which we’ll see later on, but they’ve done so much justice to every Priscilla scene fleshing out her character and showing how badass she is. Serving face and kicking ass in every scene, love her to bits. Animation was so good for her fight scene and that’s been a consistent factor throughout the season but man that sword scene looked dope. I’m notably an Emilia hater but I feel so repulsed by every scene with she and regulus. Even in fiction DV is so hard to watch and I can’t stand how he treats his “wives” if Emilia wasn’t there, ol girl would have been mincemeat. Can’t wait to see him get packed up. Last week was dark and bleak but now we’ve finally got a way to fight back and I’m looking forward to seeing Subaru and the group take this fight to the cultists. Even with his leg fucked up and the overwhelming odds he hasn’t lost hope. |

Heh imagine how much better rezero would've been without Subaru spouting pretty nonsense every episode. Just give more screen time to characters that actually put their efforts where their mouth is.
@casual42 the anime makes him look dumb, but it’s not like that at all in the novels. He’s more sound and reasonable in the LN. |

A very good set up episode the what's about to come. I am glad Subaru is getting along with Priscilla. Liliana can cure people from the curse Sirius puts on them, she may be the key to defeating her. Pray for Crusch. Emilia is trying her best in that difficult situation, thankfully she was able to get through and communicate with an ally at the end. |

Subaru is such a trash main character. He has next to no powers and he's saying he's going to kill some dude that blew his leg almost clean off with a rock. and after all the deaths and stuff? All he does is die and talk a big game 3/10, this season is turning to ass. They took like an entire season for one witch cult member... now there's 4 at once? if they win, its plot armor that surpasses Goku's. Also, that songstress is HELLA ANNOYING. |

Another FANTASTIC episode! No opening, no preview we're suddenly jolted awake from Subaru's perspective after the failed assault on the City Hall. It seems that Priscilla along with Liliana found Subaru unconscious. Turns out the dragon blood bestowed on Subaru by Capella actually made his leg be capable of not only healing but a full regeneration. Even a deep gash would heal in mere seconds though it's only localized on his leg. Better than nothing I suppose. Priscilla brought Subaru up to date with the recent demands from the Witch Cult and here we see the difference in reaction from Subaru had he been how he was in S1. BRING IT THE FUCK ON BABY! Without a single hesitation, he accepted the challenge as a knight would, and then again when he was talking in front of Anastasia... His entire speech about how he is not willing to sacrifice a single civilian life is completely different from the perspective of a businesswoman Anastasia. While she is willing to sacrifice a few lives for the many, Subaru stands tall and proud and makes an entire grand speech about how to resolve differentiates a person's death from either mere casualty or martyrdom. Anastasia thought that Subaru changed from his pathetic display in the castle from S1, and he did, and oh boy he did, but not in the way that forced his vision to be suppressed to realistic aspiration, but something more... It's not JUST an idealistic bluff that he's spouting about now, but an idealistic ambition birthed from his pride and conviction as a knight, as Emilia's knight! Subaru's speech is the highlight of the episode for me, he's still the same Subaru at his core, but with more experience, knowledge and composure to brave through the hopelessness in order to achieve the impossible. The hero from the White Whale subjugation will now subjugate an entire army of Witch Cultists, believe it. |

@Hdjwsiisiaooaoox If I were in Subaru's shoes I would call it hopeless already, his waifu is missing and he doesn't even know if he will see her again (well, probably at the wedding I guess), Crusch is probably turning into a disgusting fly or something, the city is in shambles, people died and others turned into flies, from all the bad things that happened so far, the only good thing Subaru got in return is a leg that can heal which is nice and all, but I'm still not sure if that tradeoff is worth the sacrifices so far, I don't even know if that leg will screw me over later on. That being said, killing yourself and starting over is also a pain because you don't even have time to prepare for a counterattack, the bad guys are already in the city and have the upper hand, and doing everything over again sucks, but heck, I probably would still do it. |

@a_Shape Yeah, while I liked the episode, I did eye-roll at Subaru's cringe-worthy speech. Subaru can barely do anything on his own, and it's cringe to see him talk big like that since it's all bark and no bite. Subaru, my guy, you got your ass handed to you by everyone so far in this season, stop doing that cringe speech you dumbass, do it only after having cool scenes, but most of your scenes so far in this season are embarrassing at best, not much that he can do about it since the enemies are just way stronger, but still, stop doing the cringe speech without achieving any sort of goal first since you didn't achieve anything so far. |

Can't believe so many people are misunderstanding the significance of Subaru's declaration at the end. And they'll still insist Subaru has not grown or developed after the first 2 seasons when even after everything that has happened to him thus far, he has always stood up and resolved to not give up. In the face of what is seemingly a hopeless situation, you need someone to step up to lift the spirits of those at the brink of giving up. Next episode, you all are gonna eat your words lmfao. |

We've come a long way since S1, when Priscilla was kickin' Subaru's ass in another timeline. XD Her cool, and cunning nature(but still arrogant as all hell), during their lil jig inda city was on full display. Reminded me of a female Vegeta, especially when she mashed them demi-worms. Lilianna's sewer ballad that restored the townie's senses was pretty spot-on, as was OST and overall sound(as always). Highlight on the medium wind heard, while Emilia was snooping around on the ledge with the sun setting on Priestella; just beautiful. Like many said; probably the weakest ep this season, not that the quality wasn't there(it was). Re:Zero's medium or build-up eps are still better than most stuff out there. (IMO aw) Fearful, subservient, and the empty existence of a "Regulus wife" was depicted quite well at the beginning too. @a_Shape Yeah, the speech was a little much, but still admirable I thought. Wasn't as long-winded as the love confessions to Emilia in S2.(respectfully) Still a fine episode, and I love the flashback with mommy. 👇💜 |

Subaru has been blessed with Capella's dragon blood. His leg has healed to great feats. Priscilla pulls off a fancy move using her Yang sword. She's really powerful and looks great doing it too. Liliana's singing still puts me in a trance every time she sings. She really is a bard. That ending with Emilia calling Al was unexpected. There is more to AL than I thought. And it gave me so many questions. Who exactly is AL? Why is he in contact with the archbishop of greed? What is his intent? Whose side is he really on? Is he a spy? |

Right as things were looking incredibly grim Subaru is able to land thanks to Priscilla's help and discover his missing leg has recovered thanks to dragon blood... mostly. It's a gruesome scene but at the very least he can walk. Regardless, it seems like she has a way to get around the city with sword arts and accompany LIlliana who's able to counter Wrath's effects. Her primer objective remains a mystery but I may have an idea to infers what it might be. Later, while Emilia was cowering from the tower, being shocked at one of the wives reaction to almost getting killed and devising an escape plan with a ladder of crystals, Subaru met with the others and found out about Pruscia's new injuries. That lady really can't catch a break huh. Well, with a new plan taking into account the new demands, all accompained by Subaru's speech, maybe it's time for things to start lightening up a bit. |

Man it is astounding the amount of people who watched the show to this point and just blatantly do not understand Subaru’s character First of all, the amount of people that still share the “Just kill yourself” sentiment is insane. I don’t know how you could watch season 2 and still think that’s a valid path for Subaru. Hell even after season 1. There was literally an entire episode about how Subaru SHOULDN’T see himself as an expendable resource to everyone. How he NEEDS to value his own life. That’s the entire point of his ability, to make him realize how valuable his life is, not how disposable it is. Subaru’s ability is not meant to be black or white. His ability is truly gray. Yes, he can effectively alter reality to make it how he so desires within his power and the power of his allies, but at the cost of himself, his mental well-being, his sense of self worth. It’s a delicate balance that even he said he doesn’t think he can fully accept right away. That’s what’s so interesting about Return By Death imo. So many people comparing his speech at the end of the episode to *the scene* in season one when not only does the show itself straight up tell you how this is different in Anastasia and Subaru’s dialogue, but just like… actually listen to what he’s saying. Anastasia took a very practical approach to the situation: Accept the reality that some casualties will occur, needs of the many vs needs of the few, etc., etc. Subaru takes issue with that because in his eyes she’s taking the easy road and giving up the loftier goal of truly saving everyone. When she tries to counter by pointing out an apparent contradiction in his logic using the White Whale and Petelgeuse, Subaru brings up a great point that the people who died in those fights went into them knowing that was a possibility. The people of Priestella did not wake up that morning prepared to be killed by the Witch’s Cult. They are wholly innocent. Subaru is saying that it’s not right to simply write some of them off as “inevitable casualties” without event trying to save all of them. He understands and flat out acknowledges that what he’s suggesting isn’t realistic. It’s greedy. It’s wanting more than some would argue he can realistically have. But, and I love this point of his, his whole basis is that in his mind, a Knight such as himself SHOULD be greedy. He SHOULD want to save everyone. He SHOULD try to achieve the best ending possible. And he’s absolutely right. Why shouldn’t he want to try to save everyone? Why shouldn’t he see that as priority number one? It’s easy to judge Subaru based on previous loops but keep in mind what all of the other characters see in him. To them, the Crush and Anastasia camp in particular, Subaru showed up out of nowhere and had an incredibly detailed and well thought out plan to deal with two forces that no one in the world had been able to deal with until that point. And then they hear a story of how he managed to subjugate not one, but TWO of the Great Mabeasts with the Oousagi. THAT’S why in episode 4 Julius specifically turns to Subaru for advice on the entire group’s path forward. To Julius, shortly after the most pathetic display from a man he’s probably ever seen, this chucklefuck who slandered his entire life’s work and purpose to that point just did what every single person in his profession could have only HOPED to accomplish. Subaru HAS to be their beacon of hope. Subaru HAS to push for the most ideal scenario. Subaru has to never give up. Ever. To accept what Anastasia said would be a betrayal of his entire character up to this point, a betrayal of Rem’s faith, Emilia’s faith, Roswaal’s faith, EVERYONE’S faith in him to be their ace in the hole. People saying “oh Subaru can’t do shit against one archbishop and he wants to beat four???” Acting like literally ANYONE other than Reinhard could even have a chance of taking one of them down by themselves. MAYBE Julius could if he really went for it. But it’s not like Subaru’s goals are so far removed from reality or so lacking in understanding of the situation and the desires of those around him that it’s even remotely comparable to episode 13. This is more of a personal rant at this point but I genuinely feel that Re:Zero is one of the best written series out there right now. This thread is a perfect example of how you can’t just watch Re:Zero as background noise or consume it without giving it any real meaningful thought. There is so much depth behind these characters and their actions. Layers upon layers of callbacks to previous moments. A series where everything that has ever happened has a clear and distinct purpose for happening and WILL be relevant. That’s what drives a lot of my theories about this plot so hard. It’s why I don’t overlook ANYTHING in this show. It’s ALL relevant and it ALL matters and it ALL requires scrutiny and analysis. I know some people are probably gonna think I’m a Re:Zero dick rider like half the memes and posts as of late but I’ve rewatched what is available of this show more times than I can count and I’d like to believe I am pretty good at removing personal bias from my judgement of things. Re:Zero is one of the greatest pieces of media of the modern age, maybe even longer. Hate it if you want, but the rest of us are here to stay. |

Like Priscilla said, Subaru is a mediocre man, barking all the time but no bite, can't do anything even against one small creature, can't control his emotions not in the slightest, people around him constantly needing to calm him down annoys me, meanwhile he's still so full of himself, i can't take anything he says seriously, that monologue was cringe. The dragon blood regenerated Subaru's legs and also created bandages and his shoe for some reason? Crusch can't take a break. The singing is pretty odd and unnatural, there is no flow to it, we're in a regular scene, then now we're inside a soundproof music studio, with guitar and vocals recorded separate, really off putting. Now i get why i don't like S2 and why S3 has been vey hit or miss, i can't stand most conversation scenes in Re:Zero, the dialogue is not well written and the characters act too much like exposition machines without any personality, but the action/high stake scenes are actually well done and work well imo, in spite of the bad dialogue. |

First of all, the amount of people that still share the “Just kill yourself” sentiment is insane.

@KGlock18 dude exactly. This sums it all up really well, and it still baffles me that people don't seem to understand or get this. They all just default to shit like "subaru is all talk", "Subaru is all bark no bite", or "he should just kill himself." This isn't just subjective at this point, it's a blatant ignorance to the story's themes and plot. |
