I’m glad that Naofumi didn’t suffer any permanent injuries as a result of using the Wrath Shield. To get Filo back, there was no other way to get it done.

Thanks to Atla not only using her strongest attack (I’m assuming she did), but she asked Wyndia the right question for her to point out Emperor Dragon’s weakness. Despite that, the battle was still tough but everything worked out (mostly).

Now either Galieon will give Filo her levels back or she will have to get back up to where she’s at. And speaking of Galieon, I’m glad that the OG Galieon is here to watch over her with the new Galieon’s body. I agree that he shouldn’t tell Wyndia as she needs to get over his death.

It was interesting to learn that Ren killing the Dragon was due to him being manipulated so that they can steal his treasure. Given the story we got, it didn’t make sense that he was rampaging in the village. Ren will forever have to atone for what he’s done just like Sasuke.

What’s gonna happen next?

Here we go, this is the shield hero I remember, actually good animation and awesome fights. Loved that battle against the Emperor Dragon, and everyone lived, so a happy ending too.

I have a feeling that Filo and Gaelion are going to fight a lot lol, just judging by that ending.

Also, what on earth did Atla do there to that dragon, who knows, but it looked awesome!

This episode was amazing. The fight choreography was beautiful, the visuals were stunning and both Wyndia and Ren get some semblance of closure.

That said, Ren kinda gets pushed into the background just so that Wyndia and Atla get their chance to shine. Since the whole season is about the redemption of the Cardinal Heroes, you'd think that a Cardinal Hero who has become part of Naofumi's team would get his big moment of redemption in this episode. Sure, he makes peace with Wyndia, but that's basically it.

Anyway, Rising of the Shield Hero has proven that it can deliver solid episodes with excellent character writing and high-octane, so I can only hope it maintains this level of quality now that the show is reaching the homestretch. I know that I've been kinda harsh on season 3 but that's because season 2 did a lot of damage to this show. That can't be understand. I really want to enjoy this show and not feel like I'm watching it out of obligation.

Wow, who would have thought that when you spent more than one episode on an arc, you manage to actually craft a story and make people care about what happens. This season finally got the push it needed.

Atla's ten seconds of fame.

Were animated at such an immensely higher quality level than half the runtime. Almost jarring.

Even though I am glad they used it on her.

I mean gotta admit, I thought it was pretty funny when the dragon tried to feed the baby with raw fish and some stones lol. Probably the funniest scene this season. I wanna know how the hell did Wyndia learn to speak human language, because first she could only say thing like gugu gaga and then BAM perfect Japanese.

The first episode I actually enjoyed in a while, it was pretty good.

Loved the animation this episode. The character movements looked great and there were a lot of cool visual effects. The blue flames are striking.
Good execution and timing too. I like how they portrayed the blue flames shooting out of the dust before anyone could respond. It was actually fast and we didn't get shown everyone's faces before it hit, so we felt it was quick without explanation.
Cute backstory with Wyndia and her adoptive dad too.
I'm so glad I continued watching after season 2.

So basically Wyldia(?)'s dad killed Gaelion and took over his body and Naofumi is just okay with that? Also how did that girl learn how to speak anyway if no one was around to teach her?

Wonderful conclusion for the Shield Hero, Ren, and Wyndia. So awesome.

But still. Just because Filo wants to fly, doesn't mean that they should add a creature that could fly... lololol

Remembering Filo demanding to give her exp back from that red thingy was rather adorable.

Atla being brave is lovely.
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

That fight was pretty lame, they discovered a weakness that was mostly ignored, then Atla is all "My last attack" but she survives. I was thinking it was shit as she was saying it. So dumb to have this be the character you kill off, but she doesn't even die, so that whole bit is seemingly pointless. I was really hoping Naofumi would finally use shields and abilities gained from the Filolial Queens feathers.

How did dragon feed the baby? How did Wyndia learn to speak when dragon dad didn't talk? How???

How come Raph-chan is so damn adorable this episode trying to heal?

Wait that's not important. What the hell is this, this fight is bonkers! Animation went crazy and characters are crisp, did another studio animated this episode? IS THIS WHERE SEASON 2 BUDGET WENT? And part of season 3, after that atrocious low quality heroes redemption arc episode I can't believe we got something so good, or that we could. And they wasted it on generic dragon fight. And they can keep the dragon. And Kirito is finally part of the group.

And somehow this episode made me feel something. Wyndia that is here only for second episode. Entire season 2 coudln't make me care about Ost or any other character for that matter. How come this episode is so freaking good?????

The anime does a terrible job at explaining things, so I made a quick summary to address common questions that keep popping up:

Hengen Muso: A fighting style reliant on the manipulation of life force was developed to protect the world when there are no heroes around. The problem is it takes a very long time to learn and only a very few people are talented at it. Heroes have a hard time understanding and using it. Rishia's so talented that she could 1v1 Kyo and later this season she'll solo
using it.

Atla: She's an early bloomer in contrary to his brother who's a late bloomer. Atla can see the flow of life force, this makes her the perfect candidate for Hengen Muso in which she's a prodigy.

Emperor Dragon: The strongest dragon in a world. In Raphtalia's world it was defeated by Fitoria and a surviving core shard was in the T-Rex in S1. In Glass's world it was defeated by Kizuna. A dragons consciousness can survive in their core. It got vanquished in this episode.

Gaelion: Weakest dragon in Raphtalia's world. That's why it got whooped by sword dude in S1. The baby dragon sees Naofumi as his parent that's why it was so close to him in the last scene. The young and old Gaelion's personalities are somewhat merged, 2 minds in 1 body.

Is this arc a filler? Are dragons even important? Dragons can do a lot of unique things that makes them useful to have around. For example they can
The next bad guy

Where's Spear guy? Naofumi told him to train, so that's what he's doing. He's also protecting Naofumi's village from bandits(that's why he was fighting Ren). Plus other stuff you don't wanna know about...

Where's Bow guy? In the next episode.

I thought they're going to fight the Phoenix this season: A lot of side quests to be done before that.

I thought the guy on the first poster for this season was going to be important, but where is he? The studio messed up and made the poster before reading the whole book...

@Yaggamy I've been binging through all the seasons and it's really helpful to read these important informations/mentions that you're writing/wrote down along the eps.

It's just impossible to adapt every substantial details , plot points, subplot and so.. given this limited episodes. Even so, they're extremely important to understand the basis and backgrounds of everything, whether its world building or a character.

I'm having a really hard time yk, whenever a sudden development occurs out of nowhere. Not to mention, how they already screwed up so many things in season 2.

Cutting out of important OG Contents or altering them for cheap marketing reasons = Lack of context or devaluing character developments = Thus those appearing as well as jarring plotholes. It sucks but what else can we expect, right?

Anyways, thank a lot @Yaggamy , for writing them down.

Well, I certainly didn't see Atla becoming such an MVP. She's adorable and she does it with style too. I guess that old whatever martial arts lady ain't slacking off with that training.

I also like Ren's redemption arc here - he desperately needed it, especially after being so stupid for the first two seasons and even dumber with that curse crap earlier. It sucks that he's the most reasonable and intelligent of all the other heroes... sucks for him at least.

...and honestly Wyndia is also sorta likable. She doesn't stand out as much as a lot of characters, so hopefully if she's going to be a part of future events, she changes up her style like Rishia did.

That was ...pretty cool though. A bit surprised, I enjoyed it. Glad this season isn't as subpar as the last one. I've watched far worse anime, but I honestly didn't have much expectation going into this season.

So far I've had a lot of fun watching this season - hopefully they don't make a runny mashed potato out of the next couple episodes, since it seems like this anime love to just toss stuff in from nowhere - sure, lots of anime do it... as much as I've enjoyed this season, some of the writing / storyboarding has been a mess.

So Atla has some kind of power, that no one knows what is, and we never seen her use before, that is extremely effective against the Dragon... Of course she has, why wouldn't she?

In the final battle, Atla once again is the one dealing the final blow to the dragon (the only one able to inflict damage), but let's not forget how her brother was the one that was able to destroy the barrier that was around the dragon, transforming his arms in tiger limbs, that for some reason he can also do now (well, at least he wasn't useless like before), because why not?

But why is the Dragon alive again after they take Filo and Galeon? Like, what happened? Wasn't he dead? Why would he drop off File and Galeon if he was alive. This anime is so confusing sometimes.

And the cherry on top, Wyndia's father has actually "reincarnated" in the Dragon she was raising, because why not. And best of all, HE'S NOT EVEN TELLING HER "ohh, it's better she mourns my death, because I said so", like what's this reasoning? I actually find it sweet he was still alive, because that bit of story was what holds up this episode, but like, it makes 0 sense for him to decide to not tell his own daugther that he's actually alive, like, ahhhhh...

This episode was a complete mess, this whole arc was a complete mess, it felt so rushed. It really is giving me 2nd season vibes with this. Why is watching this anime like watching soome speedrunner? I'm sure half of the problems I just mentioned are much better explained in the light novel.
