Old Anime have used domestic violence as a plot device to deepen character backstories or highlight personal growth. For example, older anime often portrayed characters with troubled pasts involving abusive family situations, which influenced their motivations and development. These elements could provide a rich, albeit painful, context for characters to overcome and grow from. I can't help but wonder if this absence might lead to more formulaic or less complex character arcs. In contrast, many modern anime seem to avoid depicting domestic violence or address it only superficially.

Hell yea, more domestic violence in anime would be very welcome, most preferably with female violators and male victims 😏

The question is phrased weirdly. Why would anyone be into domestic violence?
But if it's used for a character to grow I can see why it can be needed..

Not really since it's used as emotional manipulation to make you feel sorry for a character.

What are you even talking about? Modern Anime still has domestic violence as plot devices. Just about every modern Anime that goes crazy with back stories for every minor character at some point will focus on someone who was abused from "Mushoku Tensei" to even "I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World and Became Unrivaled in The Real World, Too". Even "My Happy Marriage" features a tragic backstory about one of the main characters who lived a life of family abusive. Just recently the Anime "Helck" had an entire arc focused on Helck's childhood and how him and his brother were abused growing up. Even going back a decade you can still find plenty of domestic violence in Anime where even in "Golden Time" Kouko Kaga's father violently hits her hard in the face knocking her down on the ground for getting into a car accident. Japanese Anime is an extremely violent medium where even in Shoujo Romance will often feature a band of a bunch of "pretty boys" who will fist punch one another over something as petty as forgetting a freaken girls birthday. Even in many cringe-coms will often times feature some teenage brat that will do something a girl finds perverted (even as just a thought and not actually engaging in any action) only to suddenly be physically assaulted by them.

Typically one isn't going to find a bunch of domestic violence in light hearted Japanese Anime that is given a PG-13 rating or less in the West. But if this is something you are missing you should probably watch more Anime with R - 17+ for violence & profanity. Much of which lots of domestic violence can still be found in lots of Seinen or Josei Anime if this is something that really gets you off.

Not really, Domestic violence exists in manga and live action drama but they are cut off from anime adaptation for foreign countries

Domestic violence is common in anime, but I think OP is suggesting women should be slapped around more in anime instead (given the image), yet the framing is deceptive. With that in mind, this is probably the best wife-beating animation put to pen from an absolute legend:

Incidentally, this clip could be used by MEMRI for their "how to discipline your wife" segments.

Tsundere violence? Yes, definitely.

I'm not that much interested in other form of violence though.

TBH; i was slapped around by my father a fair few times through my childhood (NO JOKE)
and i'm not so sure at all that it honestly did any appreciable good to my overall character development as an Adult, YMMV...

@MasterTasuke I was slapped a couple times too, but in my case it came at the right time, or otherwise I probably would've gone astray.

Same and agreed as long it's used/utilize properly in it's portrayal at least.

It's usually done for some sort of shock value and I don't think it's necessary to portray the violence itself, rather it would be more effective to present behaviors and effects that relationship has on the affected characters and the world around them. I usually skip the scenes because I really gotta value my time more and make a habit of dropping things I don't like.
On a related note, reminder to not be racist.

well I'd never wish for more lol. I prefer it when the author uses their creativity to cultivate character depth... without the use of dv. though, it's true that dv exists irl, so I can give it a pass if it's necessary for the overall vibe of the manga/anime.

Another great out of context title for a mal thread.

Anyways it depends. It is a yandere/tsundere? It it glorifying violence? It it just being edgy just to be edgy? In most cases violence of that nature in anime is nothing too serious since it's not trying to tackle any deep topics so it's fine for the most part.
Go read Berserk and One Piece they're the best thing ever

That's the worst phrased question I've seen today, good job.

As for my answer, it's not the thing itself that should or not be present, but rather the execution is what is important or not. And those scenes were pretty much in your face, emotionally manipulative and the parents or so were one dimensional evil characters, so if it is about whether or not I miss that, my answer is no.
