| Premiere lived up to the hype and promo campaign Crunchyroll had been running for sure. Production IG brought film quality production to the first episode and it wonderfully set up the world and characters. I think the MC’s regret about not following through on his dreams is something a lot of people can relate to. Thankfully he met Ichikawa at the perfect moment and regained his motivation to join the defense force. In only 24 minutes, it felt like we got a complete character arc from the MC, him being stuck in a job he doesn’t hate, but isn’t exactly fulfilling, then ultimately resolving to continue pursuing his passion. Animation was on point, especially Kafka’s running scene from the Yoju. Fight scenes had weight to them and the direction was stellar Plot twist at the end was very well done too. I wonder what’s the deal with the sentient Yoju that found the MC. Just a cool world with some interesting concepts and characters. Looking forward to seeing how the childhood friends’ reunion goes next week. |

| Whoaa the gore... (I don't usually watch gore but fell into the hype) Intestine duty def sounds rough. :/ I like the potential dynamic between Kafka and Mina. Childhood friends don't always stay together, but I'm rooting for them to be on the same Defense Team squad! Obv it'll happen cuz poster + plot, but the journey to get there—and what happens after—is what makes it fun to watch. :) Props to the new kid! Motivating the MC like that is so wholesome, having that age limit raised must be like Kafka getting a second chance at a dream he thought was over. |

Pretty mediocre start. Art Quality is actually pretty bad and the story is decent. Kinda feels like it could be like Attack on Titan but much less impactful.

| I’ve known about this series for quite a while, I even saw a volume of the manga at Walmart once but it wasn’t the first and I didn’t want to start in the middle lol, so I’m glad to finally see it, it’s also wild that crunch tested a live stream with it, maybe we’ll see that more in the future. And with the initial premise being so interesting with it being focused on the group that cleans up after kaiju battles instead of the group that defeats them, I do have a fear that this could become generic as our MC Kafka wants to be part of the defense force instead of doing what makes it more interesting imo, as I really liked all the scenes regarding the cleanup crew in this first episode, it was a combination of both cool and gross lol. But perhaps with Kafka becoming a kaiju himself it might stay interesting, we shall see. And I like Kafka so far as well, I liked his interactions with the new guy Ichikawa and I’m interested in his backstory with Mina as we got teased with it throughout this episode, it has me looking forward to when he interacts with Mina now that he’s a kaiju, ngl tho I don’t like the addition of the tiger, it kinda stands out and clashes with the theme but maybe it’s just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to goofy stuff, I have no idea as an anime only lol. And the production here is very nice, great art and animation, the kaijus looked very good and there was some great rock oriented OST, it has me looking forward to hearing more of it. And speaking of music we have a very good ED, no visuals yet but I liked that song a lot, and wow I did not realize that was One Republic, that is wild lol. |

| Having read the first volume of the manga so far, it's very successful! The character design is super neat, including the Kaiju who were done without CGI! |
| The whole presentation felt very cinematic, yet pretty grounded in realism. Reminds me of Chainsaw Man in a lot of ways. I hope comic relief won't get the upper hand in the future because I like how mature it feels. It was a great decision to make the MC an adult. Also great choice for the soundtrack, it's pretty unique but still fitting. But I remember from the manga that it uses a lot of shounen tropes I'm not very fond of. Let's see how they handle it here. |

Watching anime with characters my age is so fulfilling. And now I'm seeing that more anime being released has their main cast with 30 year old' people ππ |

| Really enjoyed that, Pacing was perfect, It seems like it's going to be a really good adaptation, also hyped that this was released with a Dub on day 1. Kafka and Ichikawa fighting over the nose plugs made me giggle lol |

| I've been waiting almost 2 years for this, and man was it worth it. Excellent first episode. Kicking off with an action packed sequence against a kaiju to Kafka cleaning up after the battle is a great way to start the series giving the viewer an understanding of how this world/society works with constant Kaiju attacks. Animation and direction were stellar, and I loved the jazzy music incorporated throughout the episode. It made me chuckle just how much Kafka looked and sounded like a young Naruto. (I think he was voiced by Junko Takeuchi herself? I'm not sure.) Very, very happy with how this came out. It didn't seem too fast and was visually excellent. |
| Finally, here it is, Kaiju No. 8, dare I say, one of anime's biggest bets in recent years. The ED was great and I was surprised when it turned out that it was composed by the famous American band OneRepublic. A great first episode, with an interesting world and characters to see, I'm still thinking about what the Kaiju meant when he put Kafka in his mouth. I hope the story doesn't decline like several animes that start with hype. |
