What is your favorite anime with a unique art style? Most anime tend to have the same art style used when making them, especially for character designs, which isn't necessary a but thing, after all there is a reason why it's so popular but it's still cool to see different types of art styles used in different anime.

My favorite would technically be Halo Legends but some people wouldn't count that as anime so next to be The Tale of the Princess Kaguya and Tower of God. My Neighbors the Yamadas is also another good one with a unique art style.

Mawaru Penguindrum is my favorite. Though for the art style itself I think Great Pretender stands out to me the most - in a good way.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. Its author, Hirohiko Araki, is my favorite artist of all-time, and I thing the anime captures their artstyle pretty well.

Ashita no Joe's art does it for me. I still don't know of any other '70s anime with as memorable of an art style.

Even if the animation sometimes went a bit wrong with it from time to time.

Don't know if their style qualifies as unique, but very rare for sure:
  • Code Geass (char design)
  • Made in Abyss (overall)
No, this isn't my signature~desu.

Little witch academia
Koybayaahi dragon maid
And the madoka magica series

Trigger shaft and kyoani are the master class of animation and unique art styles.

For unique art style, I think I'd choose No Game No Life and God Eater:

Girls Last Tour and Mysterious Girlfriend. Just look at this bad ass cover art:

There's nothing that looks quite like GLT

and even though it was made in 2012 it's cool how Mysterious Girlfriend has that retro anime aesthetic and some pretty stylish animation

The one that always comes to mind is Dorohedoro. The color and gritty feel mix together to make the show feel really unique. Pretty excited for the next season too

@Seven I second all these. Some really solid choices there.

Promare. Really, almost everything directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi. People talk about the fast pace and frantic animation in his work, but no one seems to talk about color. He uses color like no one else. Look at Promare or Cyberpunk Edgerunners and you'll see what I mean.

Also, pretty much everything directed by Masaaki Yuasa, my favorite anime director. He has a unique style that's different from everyone else.

Kuchuu Buranko was a love at first sight. It's a great trip in a avant-garde art style and I enjoyed it even more because its psychological themes since I'm a psychologist. To me, that's an excellent example of what is Toei Animation able to do if they want to do it.

Also, almost every Akiyuki Shinbo and Masaaki Yuasa works have that "unique art style" direction, for example, Sayonara, Zetsubou Sensei and Mind Game.

Katanagatari for sure. Not only the art style, but the color usage.
