Because it isn't a reality so it is ok to have those kinds of fantasies. Besides, why is it apparently wrong for a straight person to take a liking to a homosexual relationship? As a straight male I enjoy yuri anime quite a fair bit and we all know about fujoshi's and they apparently see no qualm in liking yaoi. It doesn't come from a place of envy or anything like that, but just accute fascination. As already stated by other users; do I have to fuck everything that I like?

In all seriousness, I think my interest started because of the way the relationships are structured in the stories. As an avid shoujo reader I found myself that most of the stories would shy away from certain topics or problems that relationships could face. Most of the times the Male Lead is portrayed as someone perfect while the girl chases him. Also they tend to take place in a school setting. When I started reading yaoi it just opened up a whole lot more of interesting stories, I liked that they show the relationship development after the characters got together.

@Destinesia what yaoi are you reading? As far as I know. They mostly heteronormative. Meaning there's top bottom with the top is manly, handsome, tall perfect and as the bottom is short, cute, weak and like a girl. Even shipping gay ship is like that.

For Yuri. There's that weird and that cute. And the shipping mostly cute. There's girlboss. But not feel like heteronormative.
