The Real Hunt Fucking Begins!

The buildup to this episode was well-done. The animation, Jinwoo's facial expressions, killing the squad one by one, and the insert song too.
It goes so hard, it made me remember how hyped I was when reading the manhwa for the first time.

That fight between Jinwoo and the Giant Arachnid was incredible. Jinwoo probably wouldn't have survived from that boss if he had already used the status recovery award from the daily quest.

After Jinwoo soloed the dungeon boss, the squad came back to hoard the place and steal Jinho's equipments, but they didn't expect the two to be still alive.
For the player's safety, the system now tells Jinwoo to hunt the squad that wants to kill himself.

You get to see the power scaling between Sung Jinwoo's current power compared to the rest of the hunters, it shows that he is really leveling up and not just a hallucination of the system.

The annoying cliffhangers are really back, same energy and faithful to the manhwa.
Looking forward for more episodes! Thanks for the meal.

Welp, I guess this episode brings the concern about who to really trust among party members. Even Jin-Woo was caught off guard and that spider boss is no pushover.

It's good to see Cha again. She kinda disappeared since the first episode but makes a reappearance in the real world again. But yeah, this episode wasn't just about conquering some boss. This was a fight to survive. Jin-Woo took a nasty beating and it's not farfetched to say he almost died this episode.

> If you do not complete this quest, your heart will stop
Crazy.

Oh man, A-1 totally nailed this episode.

Initially, it seemed like smooth sailing as they progressed through the C-rank dungeon. However, everything changed when they stepped into a chamber covered in mana ore, where the boss spider, the Giant Arachnid Buryura, laid dormant. In a bid to monopolize the lucrative mana ore, members of the party betrayed Jinwoo and Jinho, locking them away in the cave. After a fierce battle with the boss, Jinwoo faces a new "quest" thrust upon him.

Jinwoo really gave me the chills in this episode, while poor Jinho seemed genuinely scared for his life. But hey, Jinwoo's not as intimidating as he appears, trust me on that. Last time, we got some extra insight into Yoonho's story, and now it's Gunhee's turn in the spotlight, possibly training with Jinchul. Plus, there are some additional scenes from Cha Haein's party, with a bit of Haein herself in there. If you're a fan of the Solo Leveling manhwa/novel, you know just how important Jinwoo and Haein are to the whole story.

I really love how the anime contrasts Haein's scenes with Jinwoo's challenges in the C rank dungeon. It adds excitement and really does justice to their character development. Finally, we get a glimpse of Jinwoo's aura, something I've been eagerly anticipating. I was a bit concerned about how they'd handle the more gruesome aspects of the show, but airing in the midnight slot seems to give them the freedom to do it right. I don't even recall the manhwa being this graphic. That one scene... thank you, A-1 Pictures. It was even better than I imagined. And Sawano's soundtrack? Pure genius.

Jinwoo's leveled up, but now he's got a target on his back from Dongsuk's little brother. We'll learn more about him soon enough.

Thinking that spider would kill and eat Jinwoo and Jinho and then would again go to sleep, which will give these goons time to excavate mana crystals is… really stupid in hindsight tbh. What if that giant spider attacks them too lol. Anyways, without much choice on the hand, sure Jinwoo went straight for the kill.

But hey, this is still the start, we’re just at sixth episode, so yeah, we can’t expect Jinwoo to go super saiyan like it’s the most normal thing, so he did get thrown around, got his share of injuries, but at the end of the day, the system he’s been part of won’t let him die second time.. at least at the hands of some random ass giant spider, so that was it, and he defeated the spider.

The fight would have looked a bit more better, but yeah, we move, and when those goons came back again, really unsurprising to see they showed their true intentions, which was to dispose of both Jinwoo and Jinho. Though like I said, it won’t go that way… for Jinwoo, I mean that rage was hype. He was forced by the system, but yeah, he killed them all. ALL SIX OF THEM.

I kind of forgot how early Solo leveling was all about Jinwoo having a no-nonsense attitude. We got a glimpse this episode, and that was hype. Thumbs up to all the gore and blood. Studio didn’t hold back lol.

Kill this # of people or die by the system... lol?
That's a crazy thing he got there.

So MC has definitely graduated from being the hunted. He is now the hunter.
I can't believe he crossed that line so fast in six episodes. At the very least, we know that there's a "MC killing people for survival" plot in this story. 😒

Six more episodes to go until the completion of this season.

P.S. Can't we have a hundred plus episodes for this series? looks like 12 episodes aren't enough to me.

It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

This is where he slowly turns into a real hunter. I've gotta give props to the voice actor as well for the beautiful voice acting on top of A1's animation against the giant spider. Killing the people that tricked him is definitely a turning point for him as that's everything what a hunter does not do. Got chills for real throughout the episode.

The best episode so far. Jinwoo's killing spree was very badass and satisfying, but also very tragic. It's like he stopped being human in that moment. Really didn't expect him to kill other people at some point when I started this.

Came across the insert song a while back and thought it was just a B-side to LEveL, then saw this episode. God damn does Sawano know how to create songs that really capture the mood. The buildup was cliche personally but once the song started playing, it definitely got elevated to being a turning point kind of moment.

I had heard that this is where Solo Leveling gets darker, and I definitely understand now. The fight against the dungeon boss was one thing, but man, Jinwoo really went and killed humans. Not like he had much of a choice, since those scumbags would have killed him and Jinho first, but taking another person's life is on another level compared to a giant serpent or spider. Still, the fights were hype yet again and now I really understand why this series is so beloved. The staff at A-1 is doing a great job with this adaptation.

Plopop said:

People on MAL have led to me not even understanding what "edgy" means anymore lol. This series has hinted at serious themes since episode 1, and now when it, and its MC who has experienced traumatic shit, *checks notes* becomes more serious 😱 (not to mention there's also a lot of bloodshed), the reaction becomes "Oh my heavens this is now edgy edgelord cringe nonsense ☝️🤓." But then, something like Blue Lock doesn't have violence, gore, or bloodshed, but people throw that buzzword at it too. What does edgy even mean at this point 💀💀💀

Embient said:

He wouldn't have been able to use the full recovery thing that got rid of his fatigue and allowed him to get back up against the dungeon boss.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

MAL is literally just anime Twitter as its own website lol.

The fight against the giant spider was good. But Jinwoo killing those humans was far more satisfying. They were scum who didn't deserve to live. So glad they were taken care of in the same episode.

Lol at the rich kid calling Jinwoo "aniki". Wouldn't mind seeing him again. He's actually an okay guy.

The animation of this episode was really good. Can't wait for more.

I'm liking this a lot so far, but we're 6 episodes in a 12 episode season. This should've been 24 episodes long, tho I understand the budget for such would have to be stretched thinner thus not producing the level of animation we've had so far. But it still feels like 12 episodes isn't gonna be enough to leave any major interest after it ends for people who haven't already read the webcomic. I'm afraid this is going the God of Highschool or Tower of God route by leaving a first season and then just silence. I hope not, I'd gladly sacrifice half the churned out trash every season for another one of this, but so far it doesn't seem to have created the buzz they expected.

Everything is good but the animation man I can't feel it, lack of vision i suppose, it could've been so much better. I think the snake fight was way cooler and better than this episode. It doesn't have the kick to it.I means look at the manhwa it has a certain style to it but in the anime I'm not feeling that, i think mashle animation is better than this.

@KayKimii am actually thankful writers solved the near-death experience that way. Option was available from the very first time and it was subtly shown but awesomely reincorporated later. This is million times better solution than just relying on plot convenience or invisible armor as it feels natural and logical.

I love me some revenge killing. Its always satisfying seeing someone who thought of such a despicable plan liking luring people to their death get killed themselves. I fully support Jinwoo showing them no mercy and wiping their faces off the earth in such a brutal way. Just like he said they tried to kill him three times so why would you let someone like that live. Jinwoo fighting that spider boss was more of a challenge than those guys were. For the spider he had to find its weak spot which is naturally the eyes since they cant be armored up like its skin is. Jinwoo using his dagger abilities for the spider and those chumps. Weapon effects can truly make a difference if they're used properly. Jinwoo slamming the leader into the ground before decapitation is epic as hell. Such a great moment. Being held up by killing an actual person while your own life is on the line should be shoved aside. Jinwoo shouldn't get held up by such thoughts, it's you or them and the choice is obvious. I'm glad he took care of them and him and Jinho made it out alive instead.

@Trash_Sommelier yeah it might be a mixed bag at the end just because of 12 episode. I am still hoping that it's split cours because anime was in production for a year and half. Also i think aniplex will bring second season if it becomes hit. We are also getting tog s2 this year. I guess we can just hope for better.

Chills. Goosebumps all over my body. Sawano and A-1 you’ve done wonders on me.

This episode lived up to every bit of the hype. The spider boss fight was insane and the weight of every strike was conveyed thru A-1’s amazing direction. As you’d expect, it was a dog fight but Jingwoo pulled out in the end. Those debuffs and paralysis status effects came in so clutch. Stabbing the boss’ eyes was a brutal but effective method too.

What took things from good to peak though was Dongsuk’s dumbas getting the karma he deserved. Bro really had the nerve to come back after Jinho and Jinwoo survived like shit was gonna be sweet 😂 should’ve taken your rewards and left. Got exactly what was coming to him.

After seeing Jinwoo take on the spider I’m sure Jinho was probably more afraid of him than Dongsuk and his goons. Bro was shook when they asked him to kill Jinwoo.

Feel like something truly snapped within Jinwoo after that cheap shot from Dongsuk. Killing monsters is one thing, but other people is a totally different thing and he had to(and rightfully) cross that line today. Almost like a rebirth for him.

“You’ve tried to kill me 3 times and now you want mercy. You’re the one who said everything that happens in the dungeon stays there right” 😭 man that was hype. Took dude’s head right off

The final chains holding Jinwoo back are gone. Feel like even bro’s voice got deeper after that lmao.

I NEED the Sawano insert song played during Jinwoo’s awakening. Took that scene to the next level.. combined with A-1’s direction.. immaculate.

I’m moved. This series is special

Dude that VA and OST need awards right now, I amnot even kidding. WOW.

The animation is better than before btw imo. The first person view of seeing him just taking out others while moving at insane speed was nice. Pacing was weird and my only complaint because I felt the other scenes were interfering with what was happening. I believe I won’t criticise it as much until I see what they will do though.

So far best episode so far. Manga fans say it gets better everytime and so far they are right.
